It's 4th line...i've camped there a few times..it's a nice little area with a clean water stream there...never had any weird experiences there. Very dark place tho because of all the trees around and no housing, bring lots of lighting.

Well i've learned something new about my friend that works at the plummer...apparently she lives in a haunted house. She never brought it up because it scares the hell of her. However the other morning i was chit chatting to her and she finally broke down and told me.

Their house is down in the far east end and was built only 5 years ago, making it a reletively new house. She doesn't know why its haunted but suspects that since it's close to the reserve that it was origionally indian sacred land.

Neways, she says there are two spirits in the house..one of them she refers to as her indian chief and the other an old woman.

When they moved into the house, from day one she had bad feelings about the basement and strange happenings that she dismissed in the beginning but began to freak her out over time. She had her room in the basement and woke up one nite because she felt a hand on her. When she looked up there was an indian man standing over her. It freaked her out and she ran upstairs and told her parents about everthing that happened.

Her parents, being very skeptical told her that she had a wild imagination and chuckled at her and dismissed it. Needless to say, she moved her room upstairs to get away from the basement creepies. Well, it followed her upstairs to her new room.

Then began the chanting. She awoke several times in the nite to hear indian chanting, like a pow wow was going on. She has acutally pinpointed the area where its the loudest. After waking her up so many times hearing it, she'd follow the sound around the house and downstairs in the basement in one particular corner that was not really being used was the loudest sounds.

She would go down to the basement to use the computer and wierd things would happen.

If the lights were on, they'd shut off..if they were off they'd turn on. All the electrical things would reverse themselves. And it happened every time she'd go down stairs..she'd turn the computer off and come downstairs later to check her mail and it would be booting up...or vise versa she'd come down and the machine was in the middle of shutting down.

However, in time she felt that the chief wasn't there to hurt her or cause trouble, but more or less letting them know that it was their place too.

Then there's the woman. On top of all the wierd things going on with her chief, there was a troublesome old woman. The first experience was one nite after being woken in the basement by indian chanting, she came upstairs to get a glass of water. As she approached the kitchen, she could hear some pots and clinging or rattling. She looked around but didn't see anything. Yet she could still hear it. She walked closer to the cubboard and the noise was getting lounder.

She opened the cubboard and there was a bowl swirling around in a frying pan. She said it looked like if you dropped a quarter on the ground and it goes around and around just before it stops and lays flat. However, this did not stop. She was flabbergasted and just watched this bowl continue it's eliptical movement. Eventually, when it did not stop, she just closed the cubboard and went back to bed.

She figures the woman is a veeery old spirit as it doesn't have much form left...mostly just a white shape with some distinguishing markings. The first time she saw it, was in the kitchen. She heard someone in the kitchen and it sounded like someone was cleaning in there, so she walked down the hall figuring it was her mom. However, when she went in the kitchen, there was no one there. She walked over to the sink and turned around towards the dining area to see a womanly figure standing by the china cabinet.

From then on the only place she had really seen the woman was in the kitchen. Apparently she only stays in this room. Again, she doens't feel that the woman is harmful, but is definitely mischievious. Always banging pots and pans and leaving messes in the kitchen. She gets the impession that the woman wants their attention so goes out of its' way to let them know she's there. So has anyone else seen them?

Well after many attempts at her telling her parents about strange things happening, some peoples finally saw them.

The first, was her at the time boyfriend. He had slept over and was awakened in the middle of the nite. "DO you hear that noise?? what's that noise?...." well after being familiar with the cheif already, she chuckled and said "oooh that's my indian chief chanting, go down the hall to the basement if you want to see him" Figuring that she was full of it, he got up stormed down the hall and down the stairs. A few minutes later he returned pale faced and replied "you really have an indian downstairs, i can't believe"

The second person to see a spirit was her exceptionally skeptical father. This is the type that believes "if you can't see it, it doesn't exist" His opinion changed after this incident.

My friend came home after work one afternoon and opened the wooden door to have her father scare her to death, as he was standing with his hand out at the door. As soon as she had opened the door there he was standing, white as a ghost(no pun intended). She was horrified thinking "oh my gosh, someone had died" "what's wrong dad??"

"I...I saw her" he replied "saw who?"she said "her, your ghost, i thought you were making it up, but you weren't,were you? i saw her"

"tell me what happened." she said "well, i was home alone and went into the kitchen for a cup of coffe and to read the paper. I sat down at the dinner table and was reading the paper when out of the corner of my eye i saw someone pass by the living room into the kitchen. I looked up and said honey is that you? and then i saw a woman's reflection in the glass in the china cabinet. It was an older woman and it looked like it was behind me in the reflection. So i whirrled around in my chair and there was that woman standing directly behind me. I was running out of the house when you walked in."

And last but not least, is her neice. She's 5 years old and comes to visit them all the time. On many occasions she goes off to play and will sit and stare at the closet in my friends room. And my friend will say "what are you staring at?" And she replies "what's that in closet?" "what do you mean, what's in the closet..clothes, a hanger, shoes?" "no, that" and points to nothing "well i dont' see anything, dear" at that the neice gets aggrivated that no one can see what she's talking about and closes the closet and gets up and leaves. My friend has tried asking her what she sees but she wont say.

NOS2002: where is that cemetary exactly in goulais? we go to a friend's camp on mission rd. that is really the only place we go to--

I'm not sure if this thread is on the same topic, because quite frankly I've only read the first two pages sofar. Will get to the rest in a sec but I need to post now.

I've said on several other threads that I practice things like dreamwalking and stuff like that. Well what all of that stuff means is that I travel around at night on the asteral plain. This kinda has two effects. Yes, it's cool because I can create any dream I want. For those of you who watch Star Trek, it's like being in your own private holodeck. The bad side, sorta, is that it has the effect of making you sensative to the afterlife.

I don't claim to see ghosts, or speak with ghosts when I walk through houses, but I have been able to speak with my mother (in dreams I had no control of) and she passed away over 10 years ago so I know the link to the afterlife is there. As well when I walk through certain areas I simply get a "feeling" that I'm not alone and I know it's more then my imagination getting away from me.

I've been walking up Queen street and felt like I was being watched, close to the Old Stone House. I've felt panic down in the west side, second line, on a drive to the Airport. And there have been three times around the same place down by Dasey Road in the East end where I have felt STRONG feelings of almoast panic. Kinda like a feeling that I just needed to get outa there.

I know these feelings are more than just emotions out of control because I entered one of the houses mentioned here that are "suspected" of being haunted without knowing that and I got the feeling almoast immediately. When I told the person that I was feeling the panic they told me the story of the house and I was standing in the exact area man was killed 50 years ago. Even though I now knew I still couldn't stay in the house because the feeling was making me ill. As well, I didn't know what would happen when I fell asleep that night and started to dream.

Ghosts/spirits are real and there IS scientific evidence to prove it, but nobody will listen to the scientists with all the proof so it seems all for not. Alas, I know the truth and I'm glad to see others believe as well.

There's a field in the Trout Lake Area that i figure is haunted big time, it's call McCarens or something like that not sure of spelling. Me, my friend and brother all saw what we can only explain to be a deamon back there. It was quite a few years ago in the early 80's we saw it, about 6 feet tall, where the eyes, nose, mouth and ears would be there was only red and the rest off the being was totally black. Scariest thing i ever seen it ended up vanishing in front of us all that's when me and my friend ran for the "deamon" my brother stayed for a sec longer and said it reappeared to him about 5ft away so that's when he ran like the wind, the little guy beat us outa the bush lol.

Also i've seen many other things back there, a ghost of an old woman along the Root River. Heard my name being called when there is no one around (will-o-wisp???) just a very strange and scary place took me nearly 10 years after the first incident happened to go back in the bush by myself and at night NEVER AGAIN.

Also seen many UFO's in the area also and no i'm not high on crack if anyone is wondering. never touch the stuff.

The easiest way though is from Maki Lake Road....go down to the end just before you get to the hill and there is a trail on the left. If you have a truck, you can drive all the way in sometimes its really muddy though. Go in and there's a big open field, with many trails leading out of there. We used to party and have huge fires in there a couple of years ago. Now the younger kids try and go there but it always gets busted by the cops, so you might wanna keep it down. I am pretty sure americans own it now...they bought it a few years ago and made a road to a camp they are building on Heyden Lake.

/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif hey all. this is my first post to the site and i have to say i've been addicted to it! i haven't had any experience with haunted houses but i have had visits from family members. i've felt the spirit of my two grandmothers who passed away, and the spirit of a child i believe was one of my 2 miscarried children. i saw a little girl as an approx. 6 year old wearing a striped shirt as i was baking cookies with my own daughter and my neice. this little girl ran right up to the stove, grabbed a cookie and smiled at me. then she ran off into the living room and disappeared. i was taken aback as i didn't realize what had happened until after it did. i thought i was losing it. i then remembered my daughter told me from the time she was 1.5 years old that the kids won't play with her. she's an only child but insisted on several occasions that the little boy and little girl won't play with her. she would point to them but i didn't see anything. needless to say i was a little freaked out.

my daughter has had experiences too and she's only 4. when my daughter was 2 we visited the cemetary where my grandparents are. nothing happened at that time but when we got home, my daughter had a nap and she woke up crying because the "lady" was in her room. i told her there was no one in her room but she insisted there was. i chalked it up to a nightmare and nothing else was said. when this happened every day for the next week i thought, ok something's wrong here. my daughter was terrified to go to sleep. she described the lady as best as a 2 year old can. i got from her that the lady was old and she was wearing a dress and she was smiling. i held my daughter and spoke out loud to the spirit asking her to go away because my daughter was frightened by her. i was really anxious the next day when she went for her nap but nothing happened. i asked her if the "lady" came back and she said no that she was gone.

i could talk about this and other things that i've experienced (other than spirits) for hours at a time. i just wanted to add something to this thread. thanks for reading! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Another newbie!!Welcome to our little group-it's always nice to have new voices. We invite you to visit and post on the "handle"thread. And if you want to meet new people, join the coffee get-together this Wed.evening.

I have never "seen" a presence but I have always felt that my paternal grandmother was watching over me.My eldest daughter has seen a comforting ball of light several times when she is troubled.A couple of family members have felt somebody sit down on the bed and my daughter has felt somebody hug her.I have been in places where I have felt uneasy-but it has been in places not normally known as "haunted".In our house we used to live in on Maple St. we had a ghost cat.I'd feel what I thought was one of our cats walking in circles on the bed then curling up behind my knees but when I looked, nothing was there.

Just thought i would share my haunted house with ya all. Well accually it's my dad's house in the Trout Lake area also.

I remeber when i was a kid i would always see shadows in the house, i'ld turn around to see a shadow duck around a corner back outa sight. I'ld go to investgate to find nothing there, it was a little creepy. Also one time i was laying in bed were i had a great veiw of my parents door when i thought i saw my mother walk into her room. Being a kid and realy lazy (lol) i called to her to come into the room to get me something, no reply. Well i layed there and shouted a couple more time and watching the door to see her come out all annoied at me but nothing, so i finally screamed "MOM" and nothing. So i finally decided she got the best of me and got outa bed and went into her room and there was no one in there. So I called out once again while i looked in the room for her (thought she was playing hide and seek with me lol) when i heard her yell from downstairs asking me what i wanted.Well needless to say i booked it downstairs some fast, just a shaking. And when i think about it the thing that looked like my mom who walked in the room had one of thoughs no emotion looks on it's face. Creeped me out quite a bit for a while but that was only the start and the scariest thing that ever happened in the house.

I say the scariest thing cause now my dad and me mostly have come to the conclution that it's just a friendly spirit in the house. You'll sit in the living room and you'll hear doors open and stuff the freakiest thing is when you it come up the stairs from the basement and go out the front door. Dad just sits there and says don't be out to late or don't wake me when you come in LOL.

It seem mostly to be in the basement now, my brother even said one time he saw a man and a woman standing under the stairs. It's just strange, things fall from the shelves down there and when you go to look they'll be nothing on the floor, like i said strange.

If I was to guess i think the shadow's i use to see as a child were guarding angles or something like that cause i was never scaried of them and never felt any anger or menence from them. As for the ghost that's in there now i think he just came by one day, liked the place and decided to stay.

Now in all my experiences with ghosts and haunted houses my fathers house has to be one of the most calm feeling haunted houses around. Hope you all enjoyed the story and sorry about the spelling errors my grammar is some bad LMAO /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Also i have to find my buddies brother and get the details off him about a place on wellington street east that was haunted. All i remeber off hand was stuff flying around the house and having a priest come in. But hope to have more in a couple days.

Ok here's another place NOS2002 or some of the more adventurous might like to check out.The old Steelton Library. (by RJ's) It was originally the Steelton Town Hall . There are still jail cells in the basement. Several people have reported seeing the ghost of a lady in a long blue dress on the top floor. She has been spotted by people inside the building as well as by some walking by who say they have seen her peering out the window.

I remember when that woman was murdered in the restaurant at the corner of Wellington W. and Wallace Terrace. If I remember right she was stabbed to death in one of the booths-and I think it was on a Sat.night because I can remember we had to drive by there the next day and it was Sun.Doesn't surprise me that the place would be haunted-as I recall,it was reported to be a particularly violent crime.(Not to say that ALL murders aren't violent but you know what I mean.)

I wonder if the brick house that sits right on the curve of Tancred and Maple is haunted.A woman was murdered there as well.Anybody know?

It's on Macdonald between Lake St. and Pine St.. There is a noticeable dip in the road about halfway down (I think). The house on the northwest corner of the dip (the one for sale) is apparently haunted. But it's not just the house, but the deep gulley beside it that's creepy as well.

Another cemetary out in goulais - but that will have to wait for another day.

The bayview hotel - definitely a road trip for another day

Something about the area on wallace terrace with some killed person?

Old camp korah - but i don't know if i want to visit this one because of all the heightened security around this place.

Well folks i have a new story for ya, i don't know whether it's mechanical failure or spooks, but you decide.

My friend that works at the hospital told me that a few nites ago they had recieved a new patient for one of the rooms. She herself had left to get medication for him, however, the other staff members in the room were giving him a bath and getting him ready for his new bed.

Whilst they were cleaning him, the mechanical bed started rising and lowering by itself. No one had touched the bed yet as they were still with the patient. It continued to go up and down and when the staff went over to it and tried to used the bed controls to stop it, it wouldn't stop....they even hit the off button on the bed and it wouldn't turn off. So they unplugged it and plugged it in 5 minutes later and it was working fine again.

They said that they all watched it for like 5 minutes raising and lowering itself for no apparent reason. It just started up and wouldnt' shut off until they unplugged it.

Neways, thought it was creepy so i thought i'd share it with you /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

There was a few in that neighbourhood that were posted.

lynys
12-17-2003, 10:04 PM
Thanks for bumping it forward. I'll add my own stories. It'll be like the nightmare before Christmas!

One night my sister and I were home alone in the livingroom upstairs. She was talking on the phone and had hung up. A few minutes later, I noticed the light turn on the phone (it was a vista) The message board said extension in use. We only had three phones in the house, so I went to my parents room, and the phone was on the cradle. We were both scared to death, mainly of the basement, but I finally went downstairs. The phone had been thrown across the room, from where it was plugged in. I grabbed it, ran upstairs, and didn't move for about two hours.

another time, my friend was staying over on a cot, and she woke up in the middle of the night and saw a man standing at the end of the cot. She closed her eyes and when she opened, he was gone.

At night when I would first go to bed, someone would sit down on the edge of the bed, and I sometimes felt a hand touch my shoulder.

At one point, we kept the basement door closed, and all of a sudden I heard it open, and then slam shut so hard it shook the house.

Also, I would see shadows on the hallway wall, like when someone passes in front of a light. They would walk up and down the hall, and really creeped me out.

My sister just moved out of an apartment on Peoples Rd. and some weird things would happen. One time, her boyfriends friend and his girlfriend were over, and he kept looking towards the hallway. He finally turned to my sister and said, "Is there some guy here?" She asked what he was talking about, and he said,"The guy that keeps peeking around the corner. Who is that?" There was only the three of them and my niece, who was sleeping in her crib there. My sister also had a dream and in it, she woke up in the middle of the night becuse she heard the baby in the hallway. She got up and saw the baby pointing at a man, who was hanging with a rope around his neck, tied to the light on the ceiling. Then two men walked out of her bathroom, with a shower curtain and took the man down and wrapped him in it. The next day, she was talking to the superintendent, and asked if anything weird ever happened there. She told her that a couple of year ago, someone had hung themselves in the washroom. She asked her to describe the person, and it was both the man in her dream, and the description of the man her friend had told her about in the hallway. She would also hear a woman's voice singing lullabies on the baby monitor in my nieces bedroom.

Just a few scary things...

I believe what happened to lynys

The first half of his story associates with my family. (the part his sister experienced is different incident). The house that this happened to him in, was my home many years ago. My father passed away when I lived there. It was never haunted, but after my father died, I was around ten years old...I woke up in the night, he was standing at my bedside. Unfortunately we had to move. New people purchased the home and sold it because they claimed it was haunted. It was sold two more times as well with the same sort of stories. Now lynys family lives there and they have similar experiences.

in two weeks, a bunch of us are attending at someone apartment which is haunted. She's heard someone screaming when she leaves the hot water running in the bath tub. She's seen doors closing and someone hitting the door.

She was then told that an unstable minded person was living in the apartment before passing away.

So this will be an interesting investigation and got permission to look at the place when he returned back from her christmas vacation... and moving outta the place. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Also don't know if it would be public info.Your best bet might be to talk to a long time resident on the street. They may remember names etc. Good Luck

I used to live in an apartment by White Pines where a guy had hung himself and his "spirit" was still in the apartment. When I would go out the apt. was clean and when I retured there uses to be towels, my bed sheets and my clothes on the floor or the cuboard doors in the kitcken used to be open. In one of the bedrooms no matter how high you turned the heat up it never warmed up, I had the heater checked and it worked fine if you were standing within inches of it, but the room was always cold. If I had male friends sleep over or hang out their they used to felt like something was blowing cold air at them. But if I had the girls over I had no problems with that. I felt like he was there to look out for me, he never bothered me it actually was nice to know that there was someone looking out for me. I ened up moving out of that apt. to another on in the bulding and thease things never happened in that apt. At that time in my life I was happy to have someone their even thought I couldn't see them. I will alway remember this "person" as a good thing that happened to me at a bad time in my life.

Delcan, Sass is correct that you can get alot of info from the Land Registry office. It is public info, but the records are hard to understand for the uninitiated. You can hire any of several title searchers to dig back into the history of the building for you. The cost will vary depending on how complex the records are, how old the building is, and how much you want the searcher to dig out or photo copy. I don't think it would cost more than $50 to $100 at most, and that is for a pretty complex search. You could even go to the registry and have the searcher show you the actual records.

Let me know and I can proved the name of a title searcher who has been helpful to me.

Those records won't show you any newsworthy events, however (like murders or suicides!!) but once you get some names of former owners from the title search, you could search newspaper archives or other historical sources for their names, or search the same sources for mention of that building address.

I heard once about a guy in the Soo who did research on old buildings ... I think to determine whether they qualified for historical status and restoration funding. I'm afraid I don't recall his name. Under the Ontario Heritage Act, municipalities can designate historical buildings, so perhaps if you contacted the Civic Centre and asked if they knew of anyone who could do that kind of research. I believe the Soo has a Heritage Committee. Ask for the Recreation and Culture Dept.

Thank God I didn't buy it.....Woosh /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/no_no.gif /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/no_no.gif

I used to work at Michaels Cakes and Bakery when it was on Great Northern Rd. The building used to be a Robins Donuts (I think) and now it is the Steamy Bean. While I was working there, there were all sorts if strange things going on, the scariest of which was what appeared to be an old man sitting on the cake decoracting table watching me work. (That was almost a nightly occurance) But on other nights you could here voices comming from the front of the store, not one or two voices but what sounded like a whole group of people. Other times it sounded like people outside but when I would go out to look there was not a soul in site. (On one occasion I ran around the intire building thinking that maybe somebody was just goofing around, but nothing) For the longest time I just thought my mind was playing tricks on me being that I was working from 12am to 10am and wasn't getting enough sleep, then one night I was at a party with the guy that used to work the night shift and when I told somebody that the bakery was haunted he went pale. We talked about it and he had seen the exact same things, neither of us wanted to say anything to each other because we both thought that our imaginations were getting the best of us.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the place or if anyone that works there now has seen anything.

Not sure this would have anything to do with the former Michaels Cake Bakery, but I do know that some of my family members were involved in moving a cemetery, believe it was Holy Sepulchre, from what is now the Great Northern Beer Store/Honda Dealer area to its present site at Fourth and Peoples. This was done so that the area could be developed to what it is now. Also that are was owned by the Huckson family, they had a large farm where the present Zellers is. So with this, and who knows what other history, this could help explain the sighting at the store.
This land was inhabited long before we came along and built the present stores/businesses.
Also I can also add that we live in the east end , off of Chambers ave. When we bought the house in the summer of 2002, an old Indian friend of ours warned us that we would be experiencing some paranormal type stuff, cause of the former use of our area.
It didnt take long. We have had visits by a young child, a large man, and a cat. Also strange lights in the house, both at night and in the daytime. Other then being eerie, we have not felt scared by these presences. Also , the neighbours have said that similiar things happen in their homes.
So, letting you know that you are not alone. Some may call you crazy, but if they have not experienced these things, and you have, you know you are not crazy.

Saultcouple, when would that cemetary move have taken place? I can remember, maybe in the 60's when they moved a cemetary from Great Northern Road to accomodate road widening and continuing northward development. But it was not Holy Sepulchre although that might have been where it was moved to.At the time,a lot of people didn't even realize there was a cemetary there.

saultcouple
04-15-2004, 09:00 PM
From the way I understand it, it was moved in the extreme early 60's. And I am not sure about the original name either, but it was moved to where Holy Sepulchre is now.

Hey guys, without a doubt the Windsor is haunted to a great degree, was that was over 25 years ago as far as I know but I've been helping mother dearest organsise her stage props there when she works on pullchain.
If you take notice to the building structure(stand in the back parking lot and look at the building) you will see an old victorian style house pearched in the middle, that is the old hotel. The second floor is most notorius for it's spooky goings on however the basement is great also. Very few people are allowed to be down there unless you are an actual employee because of the bank situated sharing the basement. I've been down there a few times and know my way around. Very interesting place and the building structure is also very interesting as it is so abnormal and not well updated. A must see, I'm very glad that I got my foot in that door.

Also about the house on first ave. There is a rocking chair that moves and an old woman who is heard sometimes if not other things that point to her being there? I was told of such a house on 1st ave.

sorry guz haven't been around for awhile here it is,...by the way you might wanna grab a drink this may take awhile...

Anyways I know which house you are all talkign about and I have some actual stories to share with you all.

I lived in the scary white house on peoples rd and if i never walk back into the house i will be one happy camper!

So anyways, one day I was walking upstairs from the basement into the kitchen and my friend's face dropped and told me to run, (so if you have been in the house you know the landing to the basement goes into the kitchen and the kitchen connects to the livingroom) so anyways i am running and go to the livingroom and turn to close the door I seen the scariest man ever. He had long red hair and looked very very angry . He came to a dead stop at the entrance to the livingroom and the kitchen (almost like he would not come into the livignroom), I slammed the door in his face and my firend and I moved the couch infront of the door and went into one of the bedrooms and closed the door. After about 15 mins we we like okay lets check this stuff out. So we went and moved the couch and opened the door to the kitchen and the man was gone. NOw this was not the first time this happened. My friend who was renting out the place with us said this is a regular thing when you come upstairs it is almost like he is chasing you telling you to not come back down there.

Now there is a laundry room in this basement and there is a door to like a little room in the laundry room, we woudl never open this door because we were way to scared. If you stood in the laundry room it was like someone was standing over you doing laundry you would like run up the cemet stairs just to get out of the basement.

Another thign that occurred was around 12:00am every night it was routine for all of the windows in the house to sound like people were outside POUNDING on them like they were trying to break through and me and three other friends went outsided everynight and as soon as the last person was out of the door...the banging would stop and no one would be around.

Supposively from what we have heard when researching the "man in the basement" supposively HUNG himself down there and is a very angry fellow. Now the funny thing is he was supposively a worker for a man who built all of the houses in the neighbourhood....hmmmm?

If you walk through the field by the house i am still creeped out, it feels like someone is watchign me. I hate that creepy old house and would never ever walk in the house again because that guy was the scariest guy ever!

Actually when I was living there, Alo offered to sell it to me. Only reason I turned it down was because of my financial status. Plus the foundation of the building needs some serious work.

254 DACEY ROAD IS A 12 PLEX THAT IS SEVERELY HAUNTED. About 15 years ago, a young girl killed herself by hanging herself off a second story balcony. Shortly after that event, a murder suicide took place and everyone moved out. A couple of the tenants kept their keys to the place and when it was empty they went in and vandalised the entire building. The building was condemned and vacant for many years. They smashed all of the toilets with sledge hammers, sprayed graffity all over the walls, kicked in all the apartment doors, and used the one apartment that the girl committed suicide in, as a place of pagan worship. The building was purchased two years ago, renovated and rented out to unsuspecting tenants. The one apartment that had the suicide in it is the only one that can't keep it's tenants because they get too weird for their neighbour's and keep getting evicted.

Do you have anything to backup what you say about 254 Dacey Road? Maybe a newspaper article that can be refered to, anything? I ask because I was a tenant of that building around the time you speak of. I don't recall any suicides.

okay people.....time to get on some prozac. I mean reallY now! Loosen the chin straps on the helmets and get real. I live at 254 Dacey Rd. Been there for over a year. First of all, there was never a murder in this buildin's history. I know this because when I was in Highschool, a girl I knew committed suicide here. Nothing more, nothing less. As far as the building having been vandalized...sure it was. It was condemned for a while, however; the only vandalism was to a few windows. I really don't know of any rituals that went on in this building. The facts are just not there to support it. I really don't know where some people get their stories. My friend's trout lake home was very haunted. Thier cat would never leave the new part of the home, there was a grave in the basement and there were constant sitings.

My old house was haunted as well. I only loved there for a few years. But it was haunted none the less. You could hear people tyle in the computer room, no one there, or people walking and slamming cubbards upstairs while you were downstairs and one time this large mirror in the bathroom suddenly fell down and smashing into a million pieces. Just simple things like that. Not like full sighting like at my friends place.

I also used to volunteer at the plummer & i find it one of the most haunting places, not just cause people die there, as in patients. When i walk in there i feel this weight on me & my perception is just blitzing.

I had a friend who's brother commited suicide at Nettleton's LAke. There has been lots of strange occurances there. I always have a wierd feeling someone is watching me up there. Also, Camp McDougall has it's share of stories. I was a camp counsellor there about 12 yrs ago for three yrs.

Camp McDougal is freaky, my family camped in the park next to it and when we went off playing in the woods something always scared us away from there, I hated that place!

07-21-2004, 05:07 PM
ya...there are so many stories of camp mcdougall as well as personal things that have actaully happened to me...there was the infamous ghost all that worked there knew by the name of Harvey...HArvey only appeared at night....he kinda looked like Ab Lincoln....he shook my bed and scared the crap out of the cabin of kids i had....i had a child tell me that there was bumping on the cabin and a hand (coming through the cabin)tried to touch him....every night was stressfull....you never knew what was going to happen....he like to peer in cabin windows....and then there is Haas(sp)....there is an island across the bay that we would call Haas's island.....freaky things happened there....anyhoo...i like to hear more stories of camp mcdougall if anyone has any..... /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

I know it's just kid's stories but we were all very afraid of some one or something in the forest there that would chase us if we went to close.
We were just kids , maybe we just made it up but I know I was scared to go past a certain point in the woods.

That island, emm is it the one where you can see a sunken ship just off it, there was an island like that at one of the places I camped at.
Anyways that freaked me out and for some reason when I went out there in our boat with my dad and uncle I just got violently sick and anxious when we got close to it.

My Grand Daughter has been going to Camp McDougall for years, she's there right now. Her little brother is going out this coming week. She has never mentioned anything scary, and I don't dare ask, don't want to put any ideas in her head.I think just about every camp has it's share of spooks and legends. Not saying none of this happened but I AM saying if it happened to me I'd still be running through the hills screaming /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

This could be a good theory.

Camp is always a spooky place. That is a given in most cases because you're far from home, around new people and the counselors might be cool enough to tell you ghost stories at the campfire. And come on, we have all seen the Jason movies right?

There is a psychological spark there, you are expecting (sub-conciously) ghosts. This insights paranoia and hightens imagination.

It could also highten sensitivity,
I always belived there is no such thing as a place that isn't haunted.

That is strange. When I was in the French Roman Catholic elementary school, we used to go up to Camp Korah once a year

We never saw or felt anything different. Mind you, we didn't know of any stories...so we couldn't even get started to feeling spooked.

Now, the place has full of Satan / witch connotations, sacrifices, malaise feelings, and even a huge human sized bipedal buzzing bug that moves supper fast.

I have to wonder how much of this is made up.

I hate that creepy old house and would never ever walk in the house again because that guy was the scariest guy ever!</div></div>Hmmmmm....You say this thing with the windows happened every night?.How many people witnessed this? just wondering because you said as soon as the last person was out of the house it stopped.Did you ever attempt to get this on tape (I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question already). No
offense, someone has to play the skeptic.

I lived there for 1 1/2 years. A lot of the people I was hangin with at the time were more susceptable to feeling these kinds of things than me, and there were never any "positive" feelings from the basement.

While I didn't experience things myself, I felt at times that things weren't quite "right" in the house all the time, particularly when I was in the basement.

one night at my friends house we and my two friends were sitting in his room talking about ghosts and what not then my friend stoped and looked at me with this empty look and asked me what time it was so i told him it as 1:55. So he told me and the other guy to sit still and be very quite. We didnt ask why but we did. At exactly 2:00 we heard someone walk up the stairs and walk around the little landing, my friend got up and opened the door and you couldent see across the hall. It was there was a huge black hole in the landing. he said that this happend everynight at 2:00.. certainly scared me alot!

A friend and I went to the Shingwauk cemetary today. I've been there now several times and I find it to be very peacefull. Last year a few freinds and I went there during the day and back at night and took some pictures we didn't get anything. I did take a picture of the back door on the house and it looks like there was something sticking out of the wall beside the door I just figured it was a mail box or something but when I went back to take a look there was nothing there the wall was flat.

Isn't Camp Korah used by the cadets to do manoeuvors? That is what I thought they used it for now. Also I heard that horse pulled wagons went down in Nettletons Lake in the winter months as loggers used to cross Nettletons with their logs. My dad used to tell me stories of Nettleton's He used to swim out there when he was a kid. He said some spots of the lake were so deep no-one knew how deep. He was a kid here in the Sault in the mid 20's.

Don't really have any ghost stories myself, other than just feelings of uneasiness when we were in a few different spots in Ireland. Nothing that I can really pinpoint though.

Well, this is second hand so I don't know the validity of it but it came from a family member who lives in the area so I believe it more than I would a stranger.

This tale takes place on St Joseph Island, in the area somewhere between the "highway" and the old Fort. It was said that sometime around 1781 when the spanish (actually friench and natives) attacked the fort and took prisoners there were some brutal acts committed. Apparently they would draw some prisoners back into the bush (somewhere between the fort and the highway, that didn't exist back then) and preform brutal acts of violence. They would do everything from beat them to slaughter them, which isn't hard to imagine considering political venues during that time. It's said that there is an unmarked gravesite where deep holes were dug among the bush and the bodies were burried there. Admittedly there is really no physical history that proves or disproves the story, but if it is true then it would be the perfect location for a haunting. Brutal deaths, unmarked graves, pain and torment? Sounds like something right out of a horror movie. Consider this;

My relative and his friends will usually hang out in certain areas on the island to avoid law enforcement, while drinking under age (at that time) and partying. In one such area, around the fort, him and a small group of friends didn't get much partying done.

His group noticed, in retrospect, that in some areas it would just "feel cold" as they walked around. Two of the girls that were with them were complaining about wanting to go to a different location because they felt uneasy. They had a dog with them, pitbull, that was freaking out every 5 minutes and barking at the surrounding bush. They really didn't think anything of it, beeing surrounded by dark bushes and all, until they heard a very spooky screem come from deeper within the bush. My relative said it made the entire group jump to their feet almost instantly. A couple of them were pretty big guys, actually on the football team at CAS, and headed into the bush with their flashlights thinking that someone was in trouble. They returned after searching for about 15 minutes, finding nothing. The people that stayed at the location while they searched said the fire they had lit had seemed to paint the surrounding bush in red instead of the standard yellow/orange for the first 10 minutes the crew was searching. They said it was really creepy and they were huddled together the whole time the guys were searching the bush.

Needless to say it freaked them all out. There were 7 of them in the group that night, and I spoke to another 2 of them that confirmed the story almost verbatim. They all, infact, made a pact that night that they wouldn't go back there after sunset anymore.

Personally, I'm not sure if they made up the story or not, but it freaked them out even to be talking about it to me. I had the hair standing on my neck when they told me about it too.

I've often thought about asking them where they went, so I could go there myself. But I never could get up the nerve. I'm a huge believer in the supernatural myself, infact I often think I might be sensative. For example, sometimes I'll be somewhere, just in the middle of town or whatever, and I'll feel freaked out for no reason. I dunno. But stories like these keep me on my toes.

If that's the same place I have a Friend that swears he saw the ghost of a Women standing by that Pond.

I know this road, I was driving to my friends house at about 2am in my truck when 2 cats ran out in front of me, I was driving 50kmph and they came out with about 2 feet to spare, the first one made it fine as I locked up (hard) the brakes but the second one tried to double back and got hit. I felt HORRIBLE for hitting the poor guy and even banged on almost every door on the street trying to find the owners, no luck, and no tags on the cat. So I drove up towards korah to give it a proper burial at least. I drove down this left hand road that you mentioned. There is a dirt trail about halfway down it to the right. I took my jeep through there and in the pitch black began digging a grave. Sure enough didn't all my hair stand on end and I swear someone was watching me. I finished what I was doing, paid my last respects quickly and got the HELL out of dodge!

Maybe this "mystery man" was the weird feeling I got. I've never gone back since.

I grew up out there and as far as I can remember the graveyard is right at the very end of the road. At the church the road becomes a sand road and you continue on through the bush and it will lead you there. I have been there many times, as a child my mother and I would go pick blueberries in and around the grave yard. Never remember anything strange. As far as the school I am not sure. Wish my grandfather was still alive to ask him about this. He was one of the first to move out there when it was only the natives that lived on the reserve. He owned and logged much of the area before the reserve at one point. He knew many of them very well. When I was about 7 we moved out there and built a home right next to him. At about the age of 10 or 11 I began to experience some strange things in our home. I remember always feeling as though I was being watched. We had an upstairs bathroom and directly off the bathroom was a door to my parents bedroom. Every single time I would go in there and that door was open I would always think I saw a woman peeking into the bathroom at me. Like as soon as I turned in the direction of that door someone would pull their head back so i couldn't see them watching me. I would become so scared I would go into the livingroom and sit there and look directly at my television and no where else until my parents returned home. I never thought much of it I just figured being young and alone my mind was playing tricks on me until one night I was awoken out of a dead sleep. When I looked to the foot of my bed I saw a vision of a woman standing there looking at me. I was terrified and began scattering to the head of my bed pulling the covers over my head. I remained that way until morning. I never said anything to my parents just figured the same thing I was just seeing things. My parents sold the house when they separated 12 yrs ago. A couple of years ago I received a phone call from my mom who had been talking with one of our old neighbors and she began asking me if I had ever seen anything strange in the house, so I told her of my incidents, she then proceeded to tell me that the woman who had moved into the home after us had been seeing visions of a native woman in that very bathroom. Was it my mind playing tricks on me, hard to say. Just seems a little too coincidental to me. We lived just almost on the corner where you turn to head into sand bay/ nils bay area (house with the barn shaped garage) if any of you know the area. Maybe but a couple of miles from the reserve and graveyard, ever since then I have always wondered about the history of the area. So i too would be interested in any info.

I just found something interesting. I took these pictures (about 100 in total) at a secret place I know. It's about 100 miles out of town and in the middle of the forest. Few people know of it, and fewer have been there. It was built in the turn of the century (or just before, somewhere in that time) as a trading spot off of lake superior. It was renovated a bit over time, abandoned, taken up again, abandoned again, etc. It's like a place right out of a movie, it's just trees\forest and then this house, the lawn is gone and full grown tree's are in it's place, the roof is all green with moss, and there are about 1,000,000 bats living in the roof! Checkout this picture I just noticed:

I swear I see three faces in that beam. I did not see those when taking the pictures either. I have about a million stories of my experiences about this place, I've even talked to people who stayed in it while it was still in use decades ago and they refuse to go back ever again.

There are ZERO no trespassing signs around it or near it. There are 2 smaller houses on it's lot too, they all sit on a beach as well. The amount of "bad" things that have happened there is pretty crazy, even recent stuff and stuff I've heard from people who used to reside there while doing contract work up north. I'm still sorting through the other pics but no others have stood out to me yet.

I know I'm a little late for a ghost story, all of the good ones have already been posted, but here are a couple creepy ones i've heard...
A close friend of mine and I were talking one day about how kids can see and sense things we adults can't, and she began telling about some of the odd things her kids had said they've seen. her middle son had gotten out of bed one night asking to sleep in her room. she asked why and he said he was afraid of the man that came into his rom at night. he said a man would come in every night through the attic and put his finger to his lips and tell him "shhh, don't tell". they all passed it off as a little boy who just didnt want to sleep in his room alone, but one night they got a little curious after he told the story again and again. they pulled down the access to the attic and climbed up, and they saw that it was easy for anyone to access every attic in the entire row house complex. the attics were not seperate at all, there was nothing but one big room! Kinda creepy....

my next story is one that was told to me by someone who lives in the same complex as my other friend, but they do not know each other...

my friend was over at her girlfriends place, and they kids were running around playing. her friends son crawled up on his dads knee and pushed back his hair to reveal his receeding hair line. he nodde dand said, "just like jasmine." Jasmine was his imaginary friend that he was always talking to, but everyone had assumed that "jasmine" was a girl, so they were thrown off by the receeding hairline comment. puzzled, his mother asked, "honey, what does jasmine look like?" he immediatly raised his hands to beside his head and shaped them into claws, put the meanest, ugliest scowl on his faced and let out a loud deep growl. i have never been back....
just typing the stories gives me the creeps... tell me what you think.

/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif Ya I agree with you Charli,Char,Binx,Midnite,Stewie,Cody Banks,Donny,KC, and little one hahah (sorry name slipped my mind hehe). I find that creepy also. The boogie freaks out for strange things all the time. The freakiest I would have to say is when he started yelling at me freaking out because he saw a little boy running at him up the hallway. He said he disapeared before he got to him. Kinda put me on edge lol.

One time a unicorn came charging at me as I entered a portal in the magical haunted forest. After the unicorn had enchanted me with magical powers, a group of elves greeted me and offered to fashion me a magical sabre that could slay the largest dragons known to Midgard.

I don't see any faces in any of those pics. What you have there is wishful thinking. If you think you see a face, you will. Gradients from wood can form any shape you want them to in your mind, just like clouds.

Hey guys/gals, i misplaced my account for awhile but i am so glad to see that after 3 years of posts in this thread it's still going strong /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I got myself a new camera and have been avidly learning its features to take some great pics.

Having said that we're going to start hitting some places to take some pictures for the thread. There are still a many number of places we have not yet been to, however, first on my list is a revisit to the Old Goulais Cemetary - we had a(many threads ago) visited this place with fantastic results.

Secondly, we'd like to visit the area that once used to be the old goulais garbage dump. If anyone has maps or knows the area and can be of some help that would be fantastic. The last i heard they have put houses over the area, but it remains haunted.

NOS buddy, the old Goulais dump is a bit of a mystery in itself, due to the fact that there a re couple old ones there, I will talk to my Dad and see if he can point me in the right direction since he has lived there since '51 or so. I am pretty sure that I know where it is and if I am correct there are no houses there, but there is a lot that has changed. About 15ish years ago Sault area OPP re-opened an investigation in reports of a body being burried there as a result from a missing person some time before that, I know the location and I believe that it is where the old dump used to be. Also, go to the local library or coles, and pick up a copy of "Superior: The Haunted Shores", my uncle used to have that book and there is a lot of information there for you.

Here is a small satalite photo in the area that you are looking for. In the late 80's the OPP were searching for a body in the old Dunn Sawmill which is no longer there, and its location to the Old Goulais Dump, and Pine Shores Road where the recently relocated the road due to the colapsing riverbank right where the Powerline runs North/South. Here is the quick version:

I also asked my Dad about an 'old' Goulais dump, and there is not one, this is the only landfill site that there has been since the begining of the community to my knowledge. I hope this helps. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

That is what I am tellin ya. I have been searching on Google for more info but not comming up with much. Also I remember back in 82' - 84' ish, Raymond Routhier shot his counselor with a shotgun. The guy was trying to help Ray out, he even bought a peice of property next door and started living in a trailer, then one night, ray walked over there and started blasting holes through the side of the trailer with a 12 guage shotgun, ended up killin the guy. The property remains vacant to this day, and I knew the family very well. The location of this is, if you keep heading down pineshores and the turn off for the baily bridge is on the right, just past that on the left is the other half of Old Gaoulais Bay Road, right across from that is a small vacant lot with a few big pine loggs laying on the ground. I wish I could find an article on the incident. If anyone alse finds it please post it.
