I was recently in St. Catherines on vacation and one of my friends was telling me about this haunted tunnel that was in the area and i really wanted to check it out so we went to have a look and it was infact reeeaally creepy:

<a href="http://www.hamiltonparanormal.com/tunnel1.html" target="_blank">http://www.hamiltonparanormal.com/tunnel1.html (http://)</a>

And it got me thinking, do we(sault ste marie)have any establishments that can be deemed as haunted? I would really like some input on this..i'm sure everyone knows of a haunted house or two, but what about the old shinwauk hall or an old buiding that someone died in? I would think that in a city as old as ours there must be some ghost filled areas.

I know someone who experienced the situation at the Windsor Park when she worked the front desk when it was still a hotel.

I might know of the place that was mentioned on First Ave. I believe it's the same place a friend of mine lived with her parents when we were younger

I've also heard countless stories about Thayer's Acres.

I've never heard the one about the Old Stone House though.

I have friends who are sensitive to things like that, and they were able to "feel" something in the basement in a house I was renting on People's Rd a couple of years ago.

I've always been intrigued about this kind of stuff....

My husband and I stayed at the Windsor Park once and even though we locked the door to the room, it would open up again (not immediately but sporadically). I don't remember what floor it was.
We didn't hear about it being haunted until after we stayed there.

Here is a ghostly tale i found for the sault:

Gettysburg and Other Ghosts

One such tale occurred in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. The story begins with a boy 13 years old. His mom and dad used to send him to visit with family in Sault Ste Marie, during the summer. He always looked forward to seeing his aunt and uncle and loved the time he spent there.

One year his parents sent him up early to help them move into a old farmhouse they had bought outside of town near the airport. The area was still pretty rural at that time and the nearest neighbour was a mile or so away. They had spent the day moving
furniture and boxes and finished up just as it was getting dark. His aunt and uncle left to return the moving van and get some groceries. The young boy decided to stay behind and rest a little until they returned. He was sitting in the living room watching television when he heard a crash in the kitchen. Thinking that a box had fallen from the counter top, he went to investigate.

When you entered the kitchen you looked to your left to find the fridge and the stove. The sink and cupboards were directly in front of you and there was an old mudroom off to the right at the back of the kitchen. The mudroom hadn't been used and was nailed shut from the inside. He looked around the room, but all the boxes appeared to be where they had been placed. The boy heard another scraping sound coming from the mudroom and thought that there might be a squirrel or racoon in there.

He walked over and flipped the light switch beside the door and nearly fell over with fright. An old lady with white hair that stuck up in all directions was staring at him. He thought he was seeing things and closed his eyes. She was still there when he opened them again. He couldn't see a neck, body or anything else, just her head and face. What really scared him was the fact that he could see the wall behind her, through her. He ran back into the living room and didn't move until his aunt and uncle returned an hour later. During that time he could still hear the scratching sounds, so he had turned up the volume on the television just to drown it out.

When they returned he debated about telling them about what he had seen. Eventually he decided to say nothing, thinking that maybe he was just over tired from the day of moving. His uncle had to go to work on the night shift, which left the boy and his aunt alone for the night. After they went to bed, a loud crashing from downstairs awakened the young man. When he got out of bed and walked into the hall, he met his aunt at the top of the stairs. "Did you hear that crash too?" She had asked him. He answered that he had and they headed down the stairs to investigate.

At the bottom of the stairs to the right was the front door and living room. A left turn took you through the dining room into the kitchen. Remembering his earlier encounter, he did not want to go into the kitchen again.

His aunt went in and a few minutes later she screamed and came running back into the living room. She told him that the entire cupboard doors and drawers were open and their contents scattered across the floor. While cleaning it up, she had heard a scratching sound from the mudroom. She had walked over and flipped on the light switch and came face to face with an old lady looking right at her. Needless to say they both spent the rest of the night in the living room with the television on.

The young man didn't stay for his usual vacation with them that year. His uncle thought they were both over-reacting because nothing ever happened when he was around. His aunt told him that things continued to happen for months. Furniture was moved overnight, lights would turn on by themselves and periodically the old lady would be seen through the mud room window. Eventually his aunt couldn't stand it anymore
and convinced his uncle to move back into town. The house sat empty for nearly a year and was eventually torn down to make room for a strip mall as the new subdivisions started going up.
The only history to the house had been that the original owners had died within months of each other. The wife had a heart attack and died in the mud room and the husband had a stroke and died only 6 weeks later.

What is a "mud room"?

beaniesbaby
08-05-2003, 04:30 PM
Like a landing area or a room in the entrance of a home. Some people might call it a porch area. But if it is a place where coats and shoes, and dirt from the shoes (Hence: mud) is kept

$Spendbender$
08-05-2003, 04:31 PM
The term usually refers to a small informal entrance foyer or porch. In the 'old days a mud room was like the back porch, used primarily by servants or household staff. The word mud room came about because if one was coming from the barn or out in the field, you would come through that entrance and remove your muddy boots/clothing.

There is without a doubt a very haunted house on Woodward Avenue. A friend of mine lived there and all throughout highschool i used to see CRAZY things going on in there. Upon doing a history of the house, the owners discovered that twice, people had died in the house. Once, during the 50's a man beat his wife to death and during the 70's it was a drug house that got shot up and some ppl got killed. Perfect grounds for a haunting you say? Absolutely right.

In the house on the main floor is a library, the parents loved to read and every year they would sort out all these books(3 walls full) and put them in alphabetical order. Within a weeks time all the books would be completely out of order again. In other instances, i'd be over there watching movies and the tv would just switch to another channel or continue to change channels or the tv would just shut off. Another time, the power would go off in half of a room...the room was all on the same circuit, but half of the room would suddenly not work for 5 or 10 minutes. They had a dog and it had cateracs so it really couldn't see much. However, it used to freak me out when it would start growling at the ceiling and start backing up across the room and hide under the couch. I remember once when i was over, we were listening to some music on a 5 carosel cd player and all of a sudden the music just stopped. I tried pressing stop, ff, rew, nothing worked..i turned the vol up down. I ended up unplugging it. when i plugged it in it did the same thing, just sat there saying it was playing but not doing anything....so we left it..about 10 minutes later it came back on full volume. On yet another occasion we were in the basement, and his dad kept a gun collection in a locked cabinet with the shells up in his room. On nite he came hurdling into my buddies room extremely angry and screaming. He wanted to know who gave us permission to take the bullets out of his dads drawer and how he managed to pick the combination lock on the gun cabinet. We followed him downstairs and lo and behold the cabinet sat open and all the guns cocked.(That scared the **** out of me) Other times, the door to the basement would just slam shut or open on its own accord.

On nite, when his parents were away we decided to see if we could really find some ghosts. The house was quiet and we put a tape recorder in the basement cuz most of the weird stuff seemed to happen down there. we also took the temp of different areas of the basement on side was 20c and the other was 6c. We sat upstairs not moving for about 2 hours, we didnt' want to make noise for the tapes. When we went down and listened to it; for the first bit it was just static, then you could here a woman whispering, then a deadbolt open and a door creak open then you could hear a bunch of ppl talking but not in a language i recognized.
It was soon after that i went away to school and i've never been back in that house.

If your talking about that huge brick place on Woodward that's a bunch of apt.s now, ya that place is freaky. Buddy of mine use to live there. All kinds of wierd stuff used to happen. Parents told me that back in the late 40's or early 50's a guy was stabbed with a sword and died just inside the front entrance.

All those old houses are creepy down there. I hate working nites where I work, creepy stuff happens....doors creak and shake in their frames, feel as though someone is following me in some parts of the house when I do my night checks, cameras screw up,once the doorbell rang and no one was in the camera, when I am doing my paperwork I heard a noise like shuffling behind me and thought it was my co-worker and I turned to say Hi and no one was there. One time we were watching the camera and there was a light that kept jumping all over the place but had no source, my co-workers remote start in her car turned on by itself at 3 in the mornin.....anyways we hope its a friendly spirit.

The main floor had windows in every room, but they're painted over and don't open. On several evenings i was over, you'd see the curtains blowing like a strong breeze was moving them...other times if the house was quiet you could hear people walking around upstairs or the upstairs lights would come on. One time i was staying over and we went to walk into the basement and as i was going down the stairs in the dark(there's no lights on the stairwell)there was HUGE crash directly infront of me and felt wind shoot right past me. I screamed..scared me silly, so i ran up got a flashlight and went back down, but there was nothing there.

The only other time i've experienced something really freaky was several years ago out at Carpenter Lake.
There's a little campground there and my girlfriends parents took us there. On the second nite we were there, there was huge flash lightning storm. It must have gone on for 4 or 5 hours...it was beautiful...lightning forking across the sky. But no one wanted to go down to the water to watch it with me, they were scared they'd get hit by lightning. So, i went down to the water by myself.

I was down there oogling the lightning for about half an hour and i was mesmorized by it. It didn't occur to me that i was brushing sand off my leg. A few minutes later i felt sand hit me in the leg again. I looked around, but i was the only one there and it was all open area so no one could hide. Then a flash of lightning again and i was pre-occupied again. Again, my attention was distracted by the sound of someone running in the water directly in front of me about 10 feet out in the water. I looked all over and with the lightning, it litup everything. I didn't see anything. I thought it was a little creepy, but hey, it's a storm, it was probrably the wind. OOH and there's another flash of lightning. Again, several minutes later, i got hit with sand again, then followed by running of footsteps in the water. It was really starting spook me so i decided it was time to return to the camp.

That's when i turned down the beach and saw a white shape just hovering there, shapeless, about 6 feet high, just glowing there about 100 feet down the beach from me. I let out a small cry and ran back to the camp and hid in the tent.

The next day we were talking with the owners of the camp ground and the lady laughed at me. I thought it was because she didn't believe me..ooh contraire..it was because she said that i wasn't the first to see "it" She said that a few years prior to my visit a father and son went fishing and a lightning storm broke out..apparently the storm was too bad and the boy and father drown.

You should hear the stuff that his parents told me about that woodward house....about 20 years ago when my friend was small, and the parents hadn't lived there all that long, they used to wake up to the pots and pans being piled in the kitchen all the time..they didn't believe it was ghosts at the time, they thought it was the kids playing..until it happened repeatedly.
Another really weird thing is that one nite, again when he was a kid, his parents were cooking in the kitchen and my friend was playing by the dining table. He says that he remembers being shoved by something and he fell under the kitchen table. No sooner had that happened, the plaster in the ceiling collapsed and crashed over the dining room ruining the whole dining area. Luckily he was under the table....cuz something saved his life.

This might be a tad bit off topic but...I never knew until a few days ago that there is an old graveyard in the bushes beside Algoma U, and its full of children. Now i knew about that "haunted house" beside there, but I had never heard about this child graveyard until recently. Is it true that an old priest went crazy and killed all of these children? i think my apt on lake street was haunted. it was a corner basement apt with no direct sunlight at all. I hated it. things would go missing and than i would find them weeks later right where they belonged. i could not get a sound nights sleep in the back bedroom so i always slept on the couch. one night i was going to have a shower. i checked on my daughter. she was sound asleep. i took a five minuite shower only to shut the water off and hear my daughter screaming. i called out to her and she didn't answer, i ran to her room and she was just standing there crying stairing at her bed. i calmed her down and she told me that an old man grabed her arm,she actually grabed my forarm and squezed it tightly and let it go. i asked her who, she said she didn't know he just left. i ran and checked the door, it was locked and the chain was on. all the windows were fine and we didn't have a balcony? i did not understand it. she still says it was a ghost to this day. needless to say we slept on the couch together untill we moved the next month.

Used to play hide and seek in Greenwood cemetary at night when I was a kid. Only thing scarey that ever happened was I once fell into an open grave. Being that I was only about 4' at the time this was a problem because I was in about a 6' hole. Luckily the backhoe that dug the grave scraped along the side of the coffin in the next grave and I was able to move some dirt off the top of it and step on it to get out. No ghosts to help me that night anyway.

There's a house on top of Bruce St hill that is haunted. I've talked to a few people who used to rent the house out. There's a report of an old man roaming around the house. You'll rarely find ghost in cemetary. Unless it's old like dating back in the 1800 or early.

Most ghost will be at last spot of death, holder buildings or historical places. Old war ground or housing you'll have a better chance in finding a ghost.

I have seen actual amatuer home video footage of an entity that is lingering around the house that has been condemnd on the AUC campus.

The house on bruce street hill that was stated in an earlier thread, is genuinely haunted. The amount of poltergeist activity on that property is astronomical. The property that the house is located on, runs from the bottom of the hill (streetfront) and it's backyard is at the top of the hill. Th ehouse was built on the summit of the property. I forget what the street name is, but i do rememeber that the street comes to a dead end where it should connect with Bruce. Just looking at that house gives me the creeps. may god have mercy on any soul that dares to enter that house.

The Plummer Hospital is also very haunted. So is the convent that is located in between Sacred Heart School and Precious Blood Cathedral.

Soc67,

Yes, we believe that there are two destinies for the souls of mankind, but there is much that we do not know.

I think speculation is fun and mind expanding. I would personally draw the line at any final conclusions drawn from the unexplained though.

I also don't go looking for stuff, because I have learned that there are forces out there that are more than willing to fulfill what we fear or wish for, and often, it is a basis for deception. I have seen more than enough to know that much goes on in the invisible world...

I do not discuss it on a public board, because I have no idea whether I am freaking some poor 'bugger' out and causing him to have nightmares..

Sclem, if angels want to be seen, they do not need to use photography to keep us guessing..

If they don't want to be seen, they wouldn't show up in photographs either. Take yuor photos to a photo expert (camera guy). He should be able to tell you what the orb of light is that shows up in your pictures.

Failing that, maybe a chat with Amazing Randi, the skeptic will help /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Of course he lives to debunk everything supernatural!

The video that i mentioned earlier is not my own, it belongs to a fellow parapsychologist / paranormal investigator that only saw the images after he left the sight, went home and watched it on his television. Only two copies exist. One that he keeps in an undiscoled location and the other has been sent to a videolab for further investigation.

In the video, as the camera lens zooms back from the porch, a very defined shadow makes it's way across the porch. The shadow is cast because of the spotlight that is on the camera, as if something walked across the path of light, but if something did, you would have seen it on the video. After the shadow appears, a very quick flash of something flies by the camera lens, at first it looks like a rope that was hung from somewhere and then swung across teh camera, but upon further analysis as the tape is slowed down, zoomed, colour adjusted and filtered, a very apparent image is present, of a an old woman, with long hair and a long robe. who is this woman?? Does anyone know of any stories about an image of a woman on the AUC campus?

When I lived in Winnipeg, I had a ground-floor apartment in a building that has 8 floors. All of the ground-floor units had their own entrances directly from the outside. There was no access directly to the lobby area... completely self-contained units. To check the mail, you had to go outside and walk around to the main entrance. lobby, elevators, etc. The building is about 18 years old.

Within a few weeks of moving in, I began to detect a faint odour, like a woman's perfume, and this would happen only in the late evening. It seemed to be stronger in the bedroom area. I wrote it off to maybe coming under the wall from the next unit.

After living there for about 6 months, I would wake up for no real reason, and there was sometimes that "tinging" sound that clothes hangers make when they barely touch each other. My dog, who always slept on the bed with me, would also be looking in the direction of the closet. The perfume was also present. One night I woke to the sound and smell, and my dog was standing on the bed, looking at the closet, and wagging her tail. I checked the closet for any drafts or any breaks or seams in the wall where air movement might originate. There were none. One morning I found 2 of my work uniform shirts were on the floor in the closet.

I was having coffee in the 2nd floor office one day with the building manager and the owner. I told them about what was happening. The owner was stunned. The live-in manager had only been there for about 2 months at the time. The owner then went on to explain that almost 10 years previous, there had been a prostitute living in that unit. She had been murdered one evening by a "john" that she was coming thru the door with. The amazing thing was that the ground-floor units at that time, did not have the same layout as they now do. They all had entrances directly into the lobby. The entrance in my unit was where the bedroom closet now was.

It's not hard to figure out what our conclusions were.

I lived there for a little over 2 years before I moved back to the Sault. The incidents continued, and never got any worse. I actually got used to the occurences. It would usually be my dog that woke me up.

One interesting note... In the time I lived there, every one of the ground floor units had been broken into and vandalized at least once. My unit was the only one to be spared. I was also the only one with a dog in all that time (Winnipeg is not a dog-friendly place, and it's up to the owners as to wether you can have any kind of pet). Did the dog keep away any intruders, or did I have a "special" friend?

I don't have any info on any stories told so far but I do have a couple of my own. First let me say I was never a big beleiver in the after life but after these experiences I have had to change my opinion. We used to live in a home on McNabb street here in the Sault for around ten years. When we first moved in we got to know the people who lived next door to us who had been renting the place for a few months. After awhile we became good friends and they told us one night about strange noises coming from their house at night. Rocking chair noises and someone walking around in the house. We thought nothing of it and chalked it up to over active imagination. After they moved out another couple moved in and sure enough after awhile they started asking us questions about the house and saying that they were hearing noises at night. The next people to move in we did not even meet until one evening they where out in their backyard and that was the first conversation we had with them was them asking us about noises they where hearing in the house once again. My husband and I both laughed nervously and told them that all we knew was that everyone who had lived there had told us the same thing. The next people to move in was a couple with three kids. We got to know these people well also in fact we are still friends. They too had encounters with something in the house until the husband put pictures up in every room of the house of a cousin of his who had recently passed away .That seemed to stop it and even after they moved away no one else has ever said anything about the house to us since. We asked the landlord if she knew of any deaths in the house and she said she hadn't known of any.
Next is something that just happened. My older sister passed away a few years back and her daughter just got married last month. We just got all the photos back and there are some that we can not explain. My niece has a three year old that was just dancing up a storm at the reception. Wiggling his little but around and everyone was taking pictures of him. The pictures that where taken from our table show something else dancing with him. I will post the pictures on here later for you all to see. It is AMAZING! This fog or smoke(that's what one person said it was) follows him.You can see it in a sequence of pictures as it starts out above him then follows behind to eventually catch up and surround him. You really have to see it. So needless to say I am a believer now and will never look back. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wavey.gif

Yes, Chako. contact the Soo Star and ask Elaine Della Mattea about an interview she conducted with a friend of mine in the Soo. She was a "sensitive" and I heard the story from Goulais from her. Elaine probably has a copy of the story that ran in the Star or will be able to tell you where you can obtain a copy. It was facinating and I know she was not making up what she said she saw and felt in that old house.

Does anyone know anything more about where exactly this old dump in Goulais is/was? My hubby has been out here for a number of years and the only dump we could think of, there are no houses built on. If someone could give me a more exact location, I could probably find some more info.

The Piper
08-19-2003, 05:17 PM
Is it possible that the "dump" at Goulais is actually the saw-mill that was beside the dump that recently closed?? I seem to recall that the OPP had part of the saw-mill property dug up a few years back(someone had claimed that a body was buried there I believe). As for the school/"Indian" grave at the reserve, I'm pretty sure there is a house built on the foundation of the school now(at least it looks that way from the road). The burial ground is at the end of Mission Road, the School is(was) nearby, never heard of any "happenings" though...

Wipe the smudges off your monitor spendbender... there is nothing in those pictures. I have much larger versions of them here, and no sign of any misty figures or weird shadows or anything.

However, an aquaintance of mine (not naming names) says he's been in that house with a group of people to conduct a seance or something...

Apparently there's a pentagram burned into the floor (like the tree on the wall in "The Ring"), weird noises upstairs like someone's walking around, and one room is like 20 degrees cooler than the rest of the house.

I've also been told that years back when Algoma U was an Indian residential (i.e. Catholic Conversion) school, one of the Catholic preachers apparently raped and killed several of the young students there... so if such a horrible story is true, I'm sure there would be a lot of angry spirits roaming the campus...

However, this is all hearsay, so who knows what's really in there...

A word of warning about that cemetery... there is a row of houses not thirty feet behind the lower perimeter of the cemetery, where the photos were taken...

If you're going to visit it, be very quiet, and don't use flashlights. I'm sure the people there are watching that cemetery often, and would call the cops if they see anyone there at night... There is a path leading to it from the back left corner of the park/playground on Shannon Rd.

Also, from memory, the house is in plain view of the University and Queen St. No flashlights, and try to go in the back...

Ontario - Bruce Mines - The Bayview Hotel - Ghosts haunt bathroom in the bar and the tower.

That wasa statement I found on one of those links. My sister owns the BayView Hotel in Bruce Mines. Her and her husband just bought it last year. They have began resoration of the building.

I lived in Bruce Mines at one time and have been to the Hotel. Many a time I could hear a baby crying but never knew the story behind it. I asked who had the baby there and the people that owned it laughed at me and told me that there hadn't been a baby there in years. At the time I was baffled for I was sure that it was a baby I heard crying. The following summer I was there and heard a baby crying again and so I asked again who had the baby. It was then that I was informed that the baby crying was "their ghost".

The house i think your referring to Alo construction bought,i think.I remember he had a worker live there and he had a younger lady reside with him.
After they fixed that house up and i never got the creeps.

As far as that house goes my friend and i who both lived very close by have no stories to report.

How ever the old John son house was a house with a different flair,it's situated just as your cresting the peoples road hill on the left hand side coming from second line heading towards third line..

Many a time we would raid the apple tree at night and in those days the streets were a lot darker.
Mrs Johnson's husband as far as i knew worked in the mines in Africa as was rumored , i think he was buried 40 or so yrs ago.
The house in those days to me gave me goose bumps, never heard any stories about ghosts in either house.

Chako, yes I knew it wasn't a real stock, and I looked at the size of the holes too.I still question it, as it is a substantial piece of wood, heavy for a prop, and as this was a residence with many people living there, just seems odd for it to have been kept in the building?I pray it wasn't a position assumed for punishment or worse. It is not of the paranormal but I get a sick feeling when I see it.

Kendafry: The man whom lived there seemed to me as a young man to be very pleasant. The young wowman very attractive.

Does any-one remember Elliot's Brick yard, now that was one creepy place to be near especially near sun set.
Across the street was a umm swamp and we would swim or wade in the large holes in the ground espeially after a rain fall.

There use to be a log cutting
mill on Second line near the rail way tracks interesect with John, they currently dump snow there now.

Where the fort creek dam is,just behind the dam was a huge swamp and in it we would have rafts.
Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer had nothing on us.
Many a time we would buy hot dogs and go to our fort and think how we could live for ever a way from our parents.

If you wantto know more about that house your brother in law lived at let me know, and i ask the older x residents of the area.

Hey all, well here is the fist set of pics from my trip to the Blue Ghost Tunnel.

BGT1 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20007.jpg)
This first photo was taken on a tripod and it's raining and dark grey outside and no flash..all the other photos turned out for some reason in this photo you can't see outside..looks like the sun is shining in and it's all distorted in green.
BGT2 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20013.jpg)
This is just a regular picture of the inside of the tunnel.
BGT3 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20022.jpg)
In this picture, if you look on the right hand side, half way up you will see something (silver, blue and red) in the picture..if you zoom into it..you still cant tell exactly what it is. This picture was taken without flash.
BGT4 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20026.jpg)
Here is another regular picture of the tunnel from outside.
BGT5 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20027.jpg)
If you look in the centre of the picture, you can make out a few white spots..we have no idea what they are seeing as it was raining and there were no bugs out.
BGT6 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20040.jpg)
Just another creepy picture from inside.
BGT7 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20367.jpg)
This is another photo with weird things in it.
BGT8 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20366.jpg)
This is a zoomed in picture of this previous photo.

I went thru a few more pictures so i'll post these too.
BGT9 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20048.jpg)
This is a picture deeper into the tunnel, nothing weird about this one.
BGT10 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20053.jpg)
This one is creepy, green again and weird blotchy orbs around the camera. The thing about this one is that it was taken without a flash and i was about 60 feet into the tunnel where it was dark.
BGT11 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Blue%20Ghost/Blue%20Ghost%20Tunnel%20087.jpg)
Click this one to open into the full picture...look at the size of the orb over my friends head.

Thats it for now, but soon i'll be upoading the FREAKY pictures that turned up from our visit to the auc campus. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool_shades.gif

what was the blue ghost tunnel originally used as???

and about the old school house, and native cemetary in goulais, as a child i spent much time in goulais, and my Grama would bring me to our lady of sorrows church out there, and after church they always had a lunch buffet one day me and a friend went to that old school house,a nd after bieng in there only a few mins, i ran out crying telling my grama that something was touching me but my freind i was with was on the other side of the room(this was a story i was told when i asked her about that old school house) as for the last time i was out there about 4 years ago the school was still there not sure about now, and the graveyard was down a little path just passed there you can see both from the church it is right at the very end of the mission road. but remember this is a native reserve before heading to the graveyard try and ask permission, if you go on a sunday around noon there should be people coming out of the church they will help you find it

The Blue Ghost Tunnel is in St Catharines (or Niagara-on-the-Lake or Niagara Falls...take your pick it is sorta in the middle of everything). If anyone is ever in the area and wants to check it out, it is very easy to get to. It is only about a 5 minute walk from where you can park. Drop me a line for further directions. The first time I visited the tunnel (before I went with NOS) I was there with my brothers and I heard a faint scream from inside the tunnel, and I turn to my brothers and ask them if they heard the same thing...and they had. It is a very spooky place.

It was originally used as a train tunnel to go under the Welland Canal at the time (I think it would have been the 2nd or 3rd version of the canal...the current one is the 4th). It was discontinued from service in 1900 after 25 years of use.

The cool part is that about 3km from this tunnel there is another tunnel which is also supposed to be haunted. It is called 'The Screaming Tunnel'. I visited it last week, but did not go at night to test its hauntedness. It's story is that a girl burned to death inside of it and if you go and stand in the middle of it at midnight and light a wooden match the match will be blown out and you will hear screaming. It wasn't as creapy as the Blue Ghost tunnel becuase with the BG tunnel it is curved so when you are at the middle of it you cannot see either entrance where as the Screaming Tunnel is just straight and shorter.

Actually due to atmospheric acoustics during the night, it is a better chance to experience a supernatural being.

You should also be aware that even the most expensive digital cameras have failed pixels. You see these against dark backgrounds, but they do not detract from the overall picture (because most photos are during sufficient light, and they blend right in with the colours). I thought that may explain your photo with the colour dot against the black background, however, it does not mimic a failed pixel, which would only be of one colour, unless it is a major problem with the CCD of which all 3 colour pixels in the area have failed.</div></div>Yes, i am aware of failed pixels...i have 2 in mine..whenever i take dark photo in the centre top and centre of the screen i have a red and a blue pixel that shine thru...they are consistant in every dark photo i take. I tried brightening and enhancing this image trying to figure out what it was that was in this picture, but could never figure it out.
AUC7 (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/new/image7.jpg)

There are 3 photos here..the first is the original which appears black because it was taken without a flash. The others were brightened and enhanced using tools. The person standing in the picture is not with us as we are all standing behind the camera man. I have no idea who that image is of but we were the only ones at the auc house and the spot lights were on so we would have seen someone if they had been standing there.

I found an image of an old woman's face in the "cat" photo... number 7... however it's kind of cartoony looking. Most likely a trick of light.

Enhanced so you don't need any imagination to spot the lady...
http://eagle.auc.ca/~jacormie/lady1.jpg

300x the size it is in the original... not enhanced or changed, except blown up...
http://eagle.auc.ca/~jacormie/lady2.jpg

I also show where in the photo I found it... there also seems to be a dark figure up against the side of the house. Perhaps a slight shadow from the tree?

Outline in the Photo (http://eagle.auc.ca/~jacormie/image7.jpg)

That "mystery man" photo is quite cool. Looks like he's wearing a hat, Freddy Krueger style. Perhaps an indian headdress? There are some arranged pixels above his head that may suggest feathers... I have enhanced the black photo and set it as my wallpaper anyway /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Well, last nite a few friends and i went out to the Greenwoods Cemetary and also made a quick stop at the Auc Campus. At the greenwoods cemetary there were no lights on this massive cemetary so even with the flash it was dark. However, i present some very interesting pictures that we took between two cameras.

Original Picture - Supercharged Energy (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260061.JPG)
This was captured in the older part and was taken in complete darkness.
Same Picture High Brightness High Contrast (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260061new.jpg)
Notice there is no light in the picture, just the energy itself.
Real Orb (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260074.jpg)
Here is a good example of a real orb..no defining edge, solid white in color and just floating across the cemetary. Zoom in on it to check it out.
Just a regular pic in the cemetary (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260078.jpg)
Another regular image in the cemetary (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260083.jpg)
Regular picture of a statue (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260086.jpg)
Regular pic of an old catholic cross (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260099.jpg)
-------------------------------------------------
White blotch (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/08260126.jpg)
This was taken at the auc campus
Same Photo Zoomed In (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/08260126new.jpg)

Weird Image over the light (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/000_0757.JPG)
This image was taken from my friends camera while he was taking pictures of the house.
Same Photo High Contrast High Brightness (ftp://ftp.bullzie.ca/Greenwoods%20cemetary/000_0757new.jpg)

OMG I have to own this movie.. Ken and I watched it tonight, I liked it a lot. It was (in my opinion) Far better than the Blair witch project. It was belivable to a fault, yet it was the type to give you goose flesh.

I've been craving that scared feeling for a long time. Thank you to whomever recommended it!

Well, I rented The St. Francisville Experiment from Rogers Video tonight... and I must say, I'm disappointed.

I have the DVD until next Saturday. I don't think I'll watch it again; sort of a waste of time.

We were laughing through most of it actually. Just seemed very scripted through most of it... especially when the cat jumped out of the armoire... one of the most expected scary movie cliches.

Then there's the typical scared-of-everything blonde girl...

The visual effects with "not charles" were interesting... sorta looked like the green goober guy from Ghostbusters.

Anyway, let's just say I would have been better off renting Final Destination 2, which was my runner-up.

Well, it took me about a half hour this morning (with interruptions) to get through soc's story, but I kept getting drawn back to it. Very well written soc, in all seriousness..do you have any other writings? I really enjoyed your writing style as much as the story itself.

As I said, I grew up around there but had no idea what was going on. When my family moved to the Sault I was a very little girl and we had no money. We lived in the house right across the street. Soc probably knows the one..the big ugly dilapitated yellow structure on the south east corner. Believe me, it was no more lovely back then. That would have been about 30 years ago though. I don't remember much about the place Soc is refering to except that an older couple lived there with a white dog. A girl I went to school with lived either right next door or one house down from that place. (could it be your "neighbour" friend?) as far as I know, the daughter bought the house and still lives there. Being all of about 4 years old, I wasn't allowed to cross the street, you see so I didn't get to know anyone over there very well. One thing that really stands out in my mind though, although I doubt it has anything to do with that house. During the time I lived there and for many years after, there were an inordinate number of car crashes and pedestrian accidents at that intersection. So much so, that I became accustomed to kneeling at the front window of our main floor apartment and watching as rescue crews cleaned up the carnage. Many of those victims died. This sounds awful, I know..but it just became very commonplace. The other thing I remember about that area was the old house on the opposite corner. It was torn down about 15-20 years ago. Now THAT place was creepy. Maybe Soc remembers it, I'm not sure if it was still standing when you lived there or not, but it was a big looming grey multi-plex of some sort.

I watched a television program on CTV today at lunch hour. It's called Creepy Canada, it covers ghost stories from all over the country. What they do is they go to the towns/cities and do re-enactments of the ghost stories that people talk about. Someone should contact them to hear the stories and tell them about our ghosts of Sault Ste Marie. Maybe they'll cover the stories. If anyone cares to take the initiative i believe their website is. <a href="http://www.creepycanada.com" target="_blank">http://www.creepycanada.com (http://www.creepycanada.com)</a>

Here is story #1 that my friend told me..and although it's not a long story it's creepy non the less.

My friend works at the plummer memorial and on many occasion they have whitnessed events that are deemed unexplainable or even paranormal. From seeing people walking down the halls to power outages, objects moving or even apparitions in patients beds.
On this perticular occasion, they had admitted a patient(we'll call him Mr. Smith) in his early 60's who had suffered a minor heart attack and was under going some monitoring and testing to see the extent of the damage. They had told him that they wanted to monitor him all week so he was going to have to stay in the hospital for a full week.
Well on several occasions, the staff caught Mr. Smith talking to Mrs. Smith although there was no one there. The staff remarked that Mrs. Smith had passed on several years ago and that Mr. Smith was probrably seeing her as a result of the heart attack. This went on for several days..him greeting her or talking to her by his bedside. The staff kinda joked with him about it saying things like "oh hi mrs. smith" or "how's mrs. smith doing" just trying to humour him.

That changed the day that one of the interns came out of Mr. Smith's room. One of the staff members had asked how Mr. Smith was doing and the intern had replied "oh he's doing fine, he's just laying there talking with Mrs. Smith."

The staff members laughed and replied "oooh right, he 'sees' her alot." The intern replied "what do you mean?, i saw Mrs. Smith sitting beside the bed talking to Mr. Smith." The staff member explained to the intern that it was impossible as Mrs. Smith was passed on. The intern expained that Mr. Smith had introduced Mrs. Smith to the intern and she had seen her clear as day.

However, when they went back to the room, only Mr. Smith was there. For the duration of Mr. Smith's visit, whenever the mention of Mrs. Smith was present the staff would try and look for her.

I have met Blabahtfry and he is very tapped into the spiritual realm. he was over at my house and we did a seance. It was only him, my four guests and I. He could not have rigged the house for any kind of special effects because we started the seance almost immediately after he arrived. He also came alone, I made sure of it by asking my neighbours to watch the house for any suspicious people wandering around.

What happened was amazing. Candles lit themselves, a black mirror glowed a very luminous white light, the table tried to spin but couldnt because our legs were in the way. There were no spooky voices or images, but the evening was definitely enchanted. During the seance I felt an amzing tingling sensation all over my body, I even got goosebumps. Alot of questions that I had in my mind were answered. Blabhatfry did someting called automatic writing, where a spirit takes control of either of his hands, and he writes whatever the spirit is trying to communicate.

After the seance we talked. I learned alot from him. I asked Blabhatfry about the house on teh university campus and he said that he would never go back there ever again, end of story. He said nothing else. From his facial expression Itook it that he got really spooked. A word of caution to anyone that goes snooping over there, be very prepared and arm yourself with things that will protect you, and drive evil spirits away. Bring lots of salt, put some in your pockets and you might even want to sprinkle a line of salt around the perimeter of the home to keep whatever exists in there from crossing the line and coming home with you. Bring a bible of your choice, depending on what religion you are, and some Holy water.

Ok folks, halloween is quickly approaching, so I have one question!
Where is the scariest place in the Sault? If anyone knows of any actual sights or places in the Sault that are haunted, please reply. When I say haunted, I mean actually documented, and not just speculation. And by scary, I mean a place that looks scary and gives you the creeps, but not necessarily haunted (even though it might just be,who knows?)

Posted by soc_67 (Member # 978) on October 02, 2002, 09:04 PM:

Back in college, around '91, i shared a house on Church street with four other guys, three guys from Amherstberg, and one local guy. We lived there together for a year, but it wasn't until near the end of our year that we became aware of what exactly had gone on in the house. Each of us had some strange experiences in the house, but being typical guys, none of us wanted to be the first one to say anything.

One afternoon, all five of us were watching the T.V. in the livingroom. There were French doors joining the diningroom to the livingroom, and there was a small crack between the doors. One of the guys said, "Okay, who's screwing around?" We asked him what he was talking about, and he pointed to the French doors. My buddy opened the doors, and the light fixture above the diningroom table was swinging like a pendulum. We looked around at each other, and realized that we had all been sitting together for about fifteen minutes, nobody had left the room, and nobody else was in the house. Whatever swung the lights was not one of us.

Well, we all got freaked out about the whole thing, and then the stories started to come out. My one roommate had been up late one night, while we slept. He saw a hazy shape come down the stairs and turn into the kitchen. My one roommate woke up one morning to find a shadowy image of a young man sitting in his desk. Lights had been coming on, and turning off on their own. Most of us felt really creepy chills while alone in the house, and i personally experienced some bizarre goings on in the loft that i rented above the four other guys.

The stories came out simultaneously, unrehearsed, and with such conviction and feeling that i had no doubt my buddies were being honest. They all freaked themselves out so bad that night that they ended up at the next door neighbours.

A few weeks later, we were having our weekly poker game to see who would have laundry money for the week. There were the five of us, and three other guys from college. While one guy was dealing the cards, he flicked a card across the table, and it flew upwards, and turned over, landing behind the place he flicked it from. Two of us on the other side of the table felt a strong blast of cold air. My one roommate said somebody must have come in the house. He went to the door, but there was nobody there. It was winter, there were no doors or windows open, and the heat vents were blocked off in the diningroom, as we were hardly ever in there. (except for poker, of course). Well, our guests flipped out and bailed on us, cause we had told them about the house, but we weren't really scared anymore. It actually became kind of a novelty to live there, but none of us liked to be there alone.

Believe it, or not!

Wow,very creepy. I have done some of my own research and have found out that the old abandoned house on A.C.U's campus has had documented occurences of supernatural/paranormal activity. It is on the south east corner of the campus, located behind the small chapel (also documented being haunted) which is situated along Queen Street. I would really like to know the address of the website about Sault and area hauntings.

Ghost stories intrigue me but creep me out. I've heard stories about a house near Queen St. East, not sure of the exact house number tho, it was stories of a 'friendly' ghost I guess you would say. The girl that lived there was scared of it in the beginning, but ended up befriending the being which she never saw. They would joke with each other, switching the lights on and off and closing the door to her room in the basement. Heebie Geebies if you ask me.

There's another house on Wellington St. passed Pim St. somewhere.. there's a being in there that also plays with the lights and doors and objects.

I've heard stories about noises and objects being moved at my uncle's house all the time.. not so much anymore. Their house was built on another house. It was told, that building where another house used to stand was a very bad idea. The people that lived in the 1st house, the son was very mean to my family. My uncle ended up receiving that lot many years after the first lot owners were no longer in existence..
..nothing 'bad' happens.. just little creepy things.

I'd love to see all this in person... but would die of fright I'm sure.

There was a house on Bruce street many years ago.But it has been replaced by of all things a place that sells stones for graves. But this is a story my father told me many years ago.I don't know if it is true.

A doctor once performed an abortion many years ago on a girl. She died and he took her body and hid it out at the sand dunes around Harmony I think, not sure. They found this out and arrested the doctor but he kind of went crazy. He ended up in a mental institution in Toronto.I forget the name of the hospital because my father has been gone since 1983.But I think the name of the hospital was New Toronto. But it has been long gone.I think it was on Queen street in the city of Toronto.

I dont know if many people know about this, but along time ago, where the old Bostons building still stands on Queen, was once a cemetary. It was the cemetary that belonged to Precious Blood Cathedral, where the city's first Catholics weere said to have been buried, including some of the Sault's most prominent Historical figures. When the downtown was expanding, the city purchased the land from the church and transferred all of the graves up to fourth line. They say that the building is absolutely terribly haunted, by possibly all of the spirits from the people that were buried there and disturbed. This was the main reason why the car dealership relocated, and is also the reason why the building is having a hard time being purchased. The old home next to it was torn down a few years ago was as well rumoured to be haunted, it was once a hospital. As a matter of fact, that house had a tunnel that lead to the church across the street. It was discovered when Queen Street was reconsructed long ago to run the city's first sewer system. It was blocked off then as well.
Many of the homes on St. Thomas were rumored to have been haunted, after all, those homes were among the very first to have ever been built, along with the Old Stone House which is also haunted.

The train tracks behind St. Mary's (lakeway) was said to have been haunted by spirit of the girl that was killed there, up until the man that killed her, confessed because he was old and dying. They say that ever since that murder has been solved, strange occurences have stopped occuring at that school.

Also, the lake at Camp Korah, I believe it is called Nettleton lake,is haunted. There is a huge wooden cross erected in the woods near the old cottage that faces the lake, in memory of some people that had drowned in it. It is said that on foggy nights, you can faintly see the image of the boat that tipped over, causing the drownings to occur.

there are things out there that we don't know about, and frankly , i'm not sure i want to know!!

That is wild eh, they say kids can see things grown ups can't,and animals too can see them. One thing i need to mention is that this in not my son's shadow, it is a black shape, he hasnt seen it for a couple of months,I smudge my house with sweetgrass and sage, and tell this thing to leave my son alone,i know alot of skeptics out there but when something like this happens and keeps happenin it makes you wonder.....
I never really had a creepy experience except in grade school at Aweres out in Heyden, there was a rink and behind that lots of bushes,we played back there at recesses till some really creepy things started happening, a boy from my class was playing catch and had to go into the bush to retrieve the ball, he fell into and big hole and in that hole he got scratched really bad on the neck, like claw marks, well then bones started showing up, so the teachers decided to make it a rule on one was allowed back there, it was a rumour of a witch or something like that, with long claws who was in the bush. The strange thing was one of the teacher went back there to investigate and came running out, white as a ghost, and we were never allowed back there again. it is the creepiest feeling, like someone watchin from the bushes and you could feel it, i have goosebumps as I write this. The thing that reminds me of it, was when Blair Witch came out, it was so familiar.......

I heard that about Aweres too, I had friends from Heyden that told me about that. CReeEEeEpy!

I've also heard that children and animals see more than we do, they're more pure or something. I've heard about a few children that always see this black shadow or man in black. Yet, he never seems to harm them. Perhaps it's something good.

Does anyone believe in Ouji (sp??) and stuff like that?

I use to play ouiji with a few friends a few years back. That too is creepy. One time we asked ouiji to give us a sign to let us know that they were there with us, and there was a big bang on the storage closet door. We are screamed but still kept playing for awhile longer. This spirit was telling us how he died and when..it was in the early 1900's i beleive.. anywayz it was kinda scary.

The scariest type of instrument thatis used in spirit contacting is done through something called a black mirror, an ancient form of blood magic that hasn't been used for a long, long time, until I discovered the complete and appropriate method to conjur it.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING DIVINATION METHOD SHOULD ONLY BE ATTEMPTED BY PROFESSIONAL DIVINORS, AND NOT AMATUERS.

TO ENSURE THAT THIS DIVINING TOOL IS NOT USED BY UNEXPERIENCED INDIVUDUALS WHO MAY GET THEMSELVES IN TROUBLE, VITAL COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT TO ENSURE FAILURE. FOR A SUCCESSFULL SESSION, CONTACT ME AND I WILL COME TO YOUR HOME TO ARRANGE A SESSION.

Get a crystal small sized punchbowl, fill it about an inch below the brim with luke warm water. Add divination oil (oils can be bought at any kind of mystic shop),india ink until the water is completely black from top to bottom, and two drops of blood from the queror's pointing finger. If there are two querors, one drop each. NEVER NEVER PUT MORE THAN TWO DROPS! THE RESULTS CAN BE DISASTEROUS! Next, place the bowl in a sealed and cleared dark room. To clear a room from any previous energies or entities, wash the room down with a rag that has been soaking in pot of hot water, sea salt and banishing oil. Wipe down the ceiling, walls and floors with this mix. To seal the room (ensuring no light gets in from anywhere, tape up the windows and door frames with double layered black garbage bags, close the curtains and hang a dark sheet in front of the door. Once the room has been cleared and sealed, the crystal punch bowl must stay in that room, in complete darkness for 24 hours. When you are ready to go into the room for the first time, make sure that no light is in the previous room or hallway, the bowl must receive no light at all!
once inside, concentrate on what you would like the mirror to reveal to you, and chant " Mirror, mirror, scry for me,mirror mirror, let me see, so mode it be". While doing this, gently stir the black water with your index finger(s).Once you see the water starting to glow, stop stiring, look, and concentrate really hard!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually,I used to do private work for private investigators in South Western Ontario. They had contacted me because they were starting to take on many requests to investigate paranormal occurences, which they knew absolutley nothing about. So I stopped practising my psychic counselling services until I had finished my investigative work with them. Unfortunately, I had taken ill and was at a serious risk of becoming the target of malicious entities (poltergeists). Because of this I decided to go back to my father's homeland of Jamaica to visit a High Voodoo Priestess, to rid myself of all past negative influences, and to protect myself from future influences, sort of like what you would call a spiritual cleansing. So now all I do is basically study the history of blackmagic, witchcraft, voodoo, etc. I also study the unexplained phenominas of life after death, stigmata (unexplained bleeding) miracle healings and apparitions of saints and other Catholic figures. On the side I enjoy to do tarot, tea leaf, aura, and past life readings.

You aint the moderator man.

And Barry is right on.

Is Wicca a religion?
Is spiritism a religion? Of course.
You started it, Blab. Tag, You're it.

The so called psychic arts have always been looked upon as negative and destructive from a Christian point of view.

I have counselled several in my office who have been plagued by wierd phenomena since playing with the Ouija board or opening themselves up to the "unknown."

It is dangerous stuff.

Spiritism is a subject matter that exists in all religions, but not a religion of its own. And as you can see, Blabhatfry clearly states all he is doing presently is studying the ancient arts of Black Magic, Witch Craft and Voodoo. Sure he, may do a tarot card reading or two on the side, and dabble into a couple of other divinatory methods, but that doesnt make him a witch, satan worshipper, or a voodoo priest. Come on guys, getreal, it's halloween time and all we are trying to do here is set the mood. So get off your altars and take your flaming somwhere else, before a moderator gets involved.

Man, you guys have a low tolerance level for discussion.

Definition of Spiritism

Spiritism is the name properly given to the belief that the living can and do communicate with the spirits of the departed, and to the various practices by which such communication is attempted. It should be carefully distinguished from Spiritualism, the philosophical doctrine which holds, in general, that there is a spiritual order of beings no less real than the material and, in particular, that the soul of man is a spiritual substance. Spiritism, moreover, has taken on a religious character. It claims to prove the preamble of all religions, i.e., the existence of a spiritual world, and to establish a world-wide religion in which the adherents of the various traditional faiths, setting their dogmas aside, can unite. If it has formulated no definite creed, and if its representatives differ in their attitudes toward the beliefs of Christianity, this is simply because Spiritism is expected to supply a new and fuller revelation which will either substantiate on a rational basis the essential Christian dogmas or show that they are utterly unfounded. The knowledge thus acquired will naturally affect conduct, the more so because it is hoped that the discarnate spirits, in making known their condition, will also indicate the means of attaining to salvation or rather of progressing, by a continuous evolution in the other world, to a higher plane of existence and happiness.

Its been said from the creation and founding of the Sault that there were multiple occurences of satanic cults goin up there to perform live sacrifices. Many and many horses were to drowned and killed in the lake.. Its been also said that if you go up there at night you can here the screeching and splashing of the horses to this day. Facts: Many people have drowned in the lake. Its still undetermined how these people drown. There are no undertow's of any sort. Could this be part of the CURSE???? If you dont believe me ask around bout this story to find out for yourself. OR IF YOU DARE??? GO THERE YOURSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND LISTEN CLOSELY TO WHAT I AM SAYIN.....

It is called Camp Korah, and it is located at the north end of Goulais Ave, way passed 5th line road. Camp Korah used to be owned by the school board, and was a very popular spot for winter and summer elementary school field trips. I believe the reason why it is closed is because a couple of students drowned in that lake that was supposedly haunted. I don't know if the cottage or house that was there, still stands. There was also a huge wooden cross erected at the gate of the road that leads to the lake from camp Korah, to bless and protect all that dare to go in, and to keep whatever evil lurks in that lake, from getting out. This story was also mentioned by La Rita on the first page of this thread.

Barry, you are totally wrong here, ghost stories and haunted houses are almost always associated with Ouija boards, how do you think most of these stories originate? It's usually that some kind of seance or ouija board is played, thus attracting the spirits to the homes, making them haunted.
Do you understand? Ouija is to ghosts and halloween like bread is to peanut butter and jelly. They go together, like a plant and seed, without it, halloween would be very boring indeed.

SO LETS GET BACK ON TRACK! WHERE ARE THOSE GHOST STORIES?

Jack's Lament, from Nightmare Before Christmas

There are few who deny, at what I do I am the best
For my talents are renowned far and wide
When it comes to surprises in the moonlight night
I excell without ever even trying.
With the slightest little effort of my ghost like charms
I have seen grown men give out a shreik.
With the wave of my hand and a well placed moan
I have swept the very bravest off their feet.

Yet year after year, it's the same routine
And I've grown so weary of the sound of screams
And I, Jack, The Pumpkin King
Have grown so tired of the same old thing.

Oh somewhere deep inside of these bones
An emptiness began to grow
There's something out there, far from my home,
A longing that I've never known

I'm a master of fright, and a demon of light
And I'll scare you right out of your pants.
To a guy in Kentucky, I'm Mister Unlucky
And I'm known throughout England and France

And scince I am dead, I can take off my head
To recite Shakespearean quotation
No animal, nor man, can scream like I can
With the fury of my recitation.

But who here could ever understand
That the Pumpkin King with the skelton grin
Would tire of his crown, if they only understood
He'd give it all up if he only could.

Oh there's an empty place in my bones
That calls out for somthing unknown
The fame and praise come year after year
Does nothing cure thses empty tears?

Malcolm Crowe: In your dreams? While you're awake? Dead people like, in graves? In coffins?
Cole Sear: Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead.
Malcolm Crowe: How often do you see them?
Cole Sear: All the time.

Uh, I agree with this statement. I think it's the source of the spirits we are debating on. I will take this to the R and P soapbox and see if anyone is interested. In the meantime, stay on topic!!!

I had my first job at the old Algoma Theatre, lets see, 33 years ago. Those old hallways and doorways with no day light were eerie. When you went through the curtains at stage left it took you upstairs, the curtains stage right took you down a long hallway that had a door leading outside, beneath ground level.

Haunted, however, never ran into any ghosts.

My aunt and uncle used to live in a house on People's Rd. that we still believe was haunted. We would turn the basement light off only to have it turn back on again, the mail on the counter would mysteriously be moved to a new location, and at night we would hear the sound of someone laughing upstairs even though there was nobody up there, I used to babysit for them and it gave me the creeps to even go there even though nothing bad ever happened. I was very glad when they moved. Even their 3 cats wouldn't go into the basement.

Wow. There are a lot of stories here that indicate that obviously thre is a supernatural realm that exists.

I wonder though...

Why aren't the skeptics here refuting the existence of these things?

If Amazing Randy were on this board, he would likely have an answer for each of these events.

If scientists moved into the homes that you claimed were haunted, with their measuring instruments, would they be able to record these sounds and measure these phenomena?

I doubt it. Truly, something wierd is going on..

I believe in a higher power and have had some creepy experiences, i wonder if someone could explain why we experience these things and are we suppose to be afraid. There was this movie I watched called the Entity and it was a real story about a woman who had a evil spirit raping her, assaulting her and even in front of people this happened, that freaked me out!!!

I've had some personal experiances with unexplained events but a few of them have happened with other people there.

I was at my girlfriends place (now my fiances), and we were all watching a movie (4 of us). They had one of those hanging pots in the corner of the room. We all quickly got distracted from the movie when the pot in the corner started to sway and I don't mean a little. The pot was shifting around 30 degrees in each direction. The room doors were closed and there was no draft (not that a draft could cause a swing like that). I felt no shifting or heard anything either. Needless to say, at the time it spooked me and I brought my feet up onto the couch.

I was sitting on the couch at my apartment another time and when I looked over my shoulder I saw a shadowy man standing in the hallway. He didn't have any defined shape, he was kinda cloudy. I kinda just thought, "ohh a ghost" to myself. When I turned my fiance asked if I saw that and proceeded to describe the same thing I saw. There was deffinatly no one else in the apartment.

Keep up the spooky tales! They are very interesting to read. 8-)

I never read all this stuff but I happened along here today and spent a good hour reading all the posts...lol

Anyway...whoever started this (can't remember who it was now, read that first post so long ago), I thought maybe I'd post this little story about my own experience with the creepiest place I've ever been to. It's been mentioned already and it's Nettleton's Lake, at Camp Korah.

I'd heard all the crap about how it was haunted and rumours of devil worship and things like that. I heard it from teenagers and disregarded it easily cause I'm definitely a skeptic about creepy things. After hearing about that particular place so often though, I decided to go up there. I took one friend with me and we drove there in his car. We took a Sony video camera and a handheld tape recorder. We went at night.

When we drove in, we had no problems. We were armed with flashlights and baseball bats (go ahead and laugh), as well as our recording equipment. The first thing that went wrong was that something flew directly out of the trees in front of us, straight at us and both of us dropped our flashlights when we dropped to the ground. All we saw was that it was white and about the size of an owl, and could've been just that. It didn't make a sound though, so we were never sure about that.

Our recording equipment wouldn't work at all. Wouldn't turn on or anything. I can't tell you why, cause I really have no idea. We did put freshly charged batteries in the tape recorder, and the camera had a pretty fresh battery pack. We tried both things at home before we went up there, and they worked fine.

We did not walk very far into the bushes because about 10 feet in, my flashlight's batteries were dimming and we didn't want to be left with only one light. At that point, I especially didn't want to be left without a light since I was starting to turn into a bit of a chicken.

So, for all the planning and preparations we did for our adventure, we didn't stay long and when we got back into the car and started to drive away, the car had some issues for us. The headlights turned on and off, as did the dash lights, interior light and the radio. The car shut off completely at one point and had to be stopped and restarted. It did go back to normal after just a few minutes, but until then I know I was petrified. And, haunted or not, that place is VERY creepy at night, especially if you go into it already having heard the kinds of stories I'd heard.

I'd hate to be the person that lives up there in that log place up on the water up there then. When I had gone there with school about 3 years ago nothing had happened to us, but it was also during the day time. There were pictures of a while back inside the building that were of a bunch of kids in that lake, but it is not part of the program anymore there. You go there you learn how to x-country ski, use a compass, archery etc. The weird part was that everytime that we would go someone seemed to get lost. I remember one time that they said they found a cave, which I was there to witness myself, it was big and dark so we ran off and then another time we found a really large cliff that we heard a kid had somehow fell off of and killed himself. Everyone had also continued down that road that ran along the side of the building, at the end there is an old trailer with all kinds of things hanging in it. We were told to never go around there again.

Ghosts are the spirits of unfortunate souls that did not cross into the spiritual realm. There are many reasons why they stay, the main one,is that they think they are still alive. If anyone has seen the sixth sense, you will know exactly what I am talking about. They miss the opportunity to cross over because of any given reason, and once they find out that they are no longer living, but still lingering, they realise that they cant go back. Some accept it well, they stay around their loved ones, watch out for them, and try their hardest to try to communicate with them. Other spirits become irate, and like to take it out on the living, causing fearful hauntings. Have I answered any questions? Any others? Comments?

If you go through the parking area in front of the building, there's a little path. The lake is right there. As I kid, I grew up in that area, but was much too chicken to venture around any of the other paths. But I know that there are some that go all the way around the lake.

I didnt like wishart park. but the auc house and cemetary and camp korah dont bother me at all. I get creepy feelings from places and things too, and i am always up for exploring areas that are reported to have had paranormal activities. However I simply am swaying to the side of believing that most of these things THAT I PERSONALLY have experienced can be explained be psychology. And i personally believe that people lie a whole lot about things such as this. I continue to seek the paranormal because i would love to believe that it existss, i just havent been convinced yet. I would also like to thank all of the poeple that have contributed to this post. This has been a great time and our adventures into the night have bee an eye opener, especially when we come home and realize some of the scary crap (ie. the man in the picture at AUC), that we have encountered. I am always up for a little ghost hunting and I am sure that in the future I will have a chance to meet a few more interested people. At this time I am gathering information about a post here that attracted my attention about the first Goulais graveyard, but to my knowledge there was never another but I will find out and keep you posted.

All the photos were posted directly from the camera to here..the picture with the man in it has 3 postings..the one that's all black is the original and was not altered..the other two as stated in the post were brightened to see the image. That was all that was done to the other two.

Well today we went to the old cemetary in goulais...this thing looks like a pet cemetary with old wooden crosses from late 1800's/early 1900's. We were there for about half an hour and took all our photos. Everything seemed to be fine other than my friends camera lcd display shut off twice for no reason.
However, we were just about finished and were starting to pack stuff up and i was just going to take a few last photos of a particular headstone when my friend said "well, that wasn't too spooky, everything went well" he no sooner finished saying that when it happened.
My camera was on a tripod and i was using a remote to control my camera to take all the pictures and i was just about to take the picture when my friend just finished saying his little speech and thats when my camera went all screwy.

I mean the picture on the lcd display went from perfectly clear and in focus to all blurred and out of focus and all the colors were screwy. On top of that, the controls ceased to function on my remote-i couldn't zoom, or take a picture or nothing. I thought that maybe the remote wasn't working , so i unplugged the remote and tried to adjust the camera manually- but none of the controls on the camera would work. I couldn't even turn off the camera! It just sat there frozen and screwy.
The four of us were standing around my camera watching it and trying to get it to work when it started taking pictures by itself.
It took 6 pictures of this headstone out of focus and all screwy, over a period of 2 minutes. I just sat there dumbfounded and watched as my camera was snapping pictures.
Then after about 2 minutes the picture went back to normal and all the controls worked again and i was able to shut the camera off.

Right after that we packed up and left.

I have all the photos we took from there and will post them tomorrow.

me and fuzzy will go anywhere
im creepy to behold myself
a bone visage hehehe
just jokin
but yeah we like explorin' n' stuff
there is a house on second line that is uber haunted, i lived there for a year about 10 years ago. and my friends know a couple of places on northern avenue. have any of you been on whitefish isalnd at night?
i used to fish all night by myself on the island.
between 4 and 6 am no animals move, no fishes bite, its soo wierd. its like nature is hiding.
i also have spent nights alone in a tent in thayers acres, nothing bad ever happened to me there. nothin out of the norm at least.
wishart park at night absolutely freaks me out. i cannot stand there. it feels like nature is angry or in pain and looking for something to lash out or attack. i will not go there at night.
our kamp korah adventures always end early. no one will ever stay very long at night. the story i heard was that when they sacrificed those horses, the cult dudes, went around marking the trees in some kind of symbol or rune to curse the place. and i heard some kids went missing in the 70s up in the wood there but they covered it up and dismissed it as something else. kamp korah has such an energy to it that its almost enough to inspire me to write and or plan a documentary about it. i dont know too many people who can say that they dont feel something wierd there. it could be explained or it could be paranormal, im not sure but i would not enter those woods alone at night, the trees have eyes. some bad things must have happened there, the land i think is scarred forever.
we ventured to the auc house and cemetary, i felt a great sadness upon entering that cemetary. i was almost embarassed to be a white person. i think forcing the catholic religion on aboriginals and putting them in res. schools was absolutely heinous and wrong. then when we had payed our silent respects and left the cemetary we all agreed that we felt a sense of peace and calm. then we went to the house and all three of us walked around looking at things. i felt as though we all had slight attitude changes, cause...unknown, dismissed as coincedence. i did not like this place very much. it felt like i was invading a terrible terrible person's personal space. i dont think ill be going back there anytime soon, it was uncomfortable. if anyone wants to get a group together to go to hiawatha that would be cool, somany bad things have happened there, if there is **** that exists, somethin has to exist there! anyways yeah!! cheers

Try being there, that is creepy! The thing about the cemtary that bothered me the most is the fact that where all os the graves are there is grass growing all around them but there is no grass growing over top mof the grave just in between, even the graves that have been there 100 years or more. This was a very strange graveyard to visit, very strange.

I read earlier that someone (I cannot remember who) thought that we have doctored these pics. Let me assure you that what you are seing is real. When we came to my house that night and put the pics on the pc from the camera I just about $h!+ my pants!

Spend, you're way off!!You're thinking of Penhorwood Park.Wishart is off of (I think)4th. or 5th. line, not far from Hiawatha/Mockingbird Hill.If you're heading east on the "line",the entrance is on your right.

Spendbender, Wishart Park is off of 3rd or 4th line. I haven't been up in while but that's a little closer than Pine St.

WHEN ARE WE ALL GETTING TOGETHER TO CHECK THESE PLACES OUT???

Fuzzy, T-Pot and Kinger, I'd like to join in on your next excursion.
