View Full Version : Quick breakfast ideas...
My oldest 2 don't ever seem to want breakfast before school. Anyone have any quick yummy ideas that I can "convince" them to eat before heading out the door??

A few ideas -
- instant oatmeal, instant cream of wheat
- granola bars (if you're desparate)
- my kids used to love this: I got a microwave egg maker (can use a tupperware container), and some egg whites in a carton. Spray pam inside. Pour the egg white into the egg maker to about 1/2 inch, then mix in some maple syrup. Microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes. Whole thing takes about 3 minutes to make and they can eat it between two pieces of toast, just like an egg mcmuffin.
- if they like bacon, you can get that pre-cooked at the grocery store - it's not bad actually and really costs not much more. Just heat it up and serve it - can make bacon sandwiches, etc.
Thanks!!!
Oatmeal and Cream of Wheat are out... neither one like it. I have done the granola bar thing just so they would eat SOMETHING but the last 2 things you suggested... GREAT idea!
I'll try 'em out! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

my daughter loves sausage, so i buy the sausage patties and fry em up then slap em onto an english muffin with a slice of cheese.
banana cut up in a bowl with a little milk and sugar.
yougurt with fruit in it..strawberries, blueberries, banana
when i make pancakes i always make extra and freeze them, then on school days i can defrost them quickly. serve with syrup or make a pb&j sandwhich with them, or spread with cream cheese and jam.
SLS where do you buy your sausage patties? Maybe I'm an idiot but I look for them all the time and can never find them. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif

i forgot my favourite...
Breakfast Milkshakes!
i blend either strawberries or banana with a container of yogurt and add a bit of milk and a scoop of ice-cream. Full of good stuff and something 'FUN' in the morning.
i've even used those little Mini-Go things instead of yogurt.
When my little one isn't eating all that great, i make her a shake with pediasure and ice-cream. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Thanks SLS and blueeyedgirl..

My son likes Eggo Waffles. Lots of different kinds/flavors to choose from, he won't even put syrop on them.
Toast and Nutella is another popular one.
Sliced melon, berries, oranges or apples he also loves.
Hash browns. They have boxes of them at No Frills and A&P. They're kinda like the McDonalds ones. Just fry for a couple minutes on each side.

Lizzy,
At food basic in our end look in the freezer isle where they keep the frozen waffles and things.

Once in a while we have homemade banana bread, zucchini bread or cinnamon buns for breakfast. It's fast in the morning, but it requires that you bake it beforehand. My kids love it when we have that for breakfast.
