INGREDIENTS:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS:
-Let cornmeal soak in the milk (this makes it moister and less crumbly) in small bowl or measuring cup
-Preheat oven to 400
-grease a 9 inch round/square pan
-mix all dry ingredients in large bowl
- add wet ingredients and cornmeal/milk mixture and stir until well blended

Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

mmm..i haven't had corn bread for a long time. My Mom calls it Johnny Cake.
