Lapband is safer and not as permanent sugury wise. Its a ring thats adjustable around the top part of the stomach. Filled, it contracts the amount of food that goes in, let out it allows more. You KEEP YOUR INNARDS!!!

Yeah, and then when it gets removed, you opt to take it out and your stomach goes back to normal size.. you start eating to fill your regular sized stomach, NOT your small stomach, gain all that weight back! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Is that before or after you look at your stitches and realized you can cut it back open with a regular sized knife, NOT your small knife, and gain a rational thought?

If your mentality can't say no to food after that, surgury isn't what you need!!!

Ps. - this is a "Quib" not a cut down and yes, I watch that show Big Medicine WAY TOO MUCH!!!

Come to the seminar on the 17th and get informed. Kim Hazen works for the doctor who does the surgury and has also had it done. I am sure she can answer any questions you have.

Not only does Kim work for CLOS. She had the surgery 6 years ago and lost over a 100lbs and has not gained it back.

It's also not covered by OHIP and will cost you $15000 just for the surgery, and more to have it removed, it has poor results, many many people have to have it removed because of constant throwing up, it causes major scaring in the stomach..and the with the Mini Gastric Bypass.. you don't lose any of your inards... PLEASE INFORM YOURSELF BEFORE TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!

There was an article about how the lapband actually CURED diabetes in the Sault Star a couple of days ago. Hope I got that right. Something like 80 percent.

It does mention banding, however goes on to state that Gastric bypass is even more effective against diabetes, achieving remission in a matter of days or a month.

i would urge anyone who is the least bit interested to get informed. big medicine and even oprah the other day didnt have all of the information. i did a ton of research before i decided to have this surgery. you will also learn that there is more there than 'just saying no to food' many of us eat much less than a 'regular' person, but our metabolism and system is so screwed up. when the surgery occurs, homrones change, fluids flush and yes, you are in a semi starvation for especially the first few months and have a big weight loss.

it is wonderful. it is life changing/ enhancing.

I have a feeling that all that might want to know about this meeting aren't finding out... what about the people that don't have internet? Is there some other way of getting the word out?? I have started a Facebook Group, but still not sure that will do the trick!
