I did a fresh install of XP pro on my media PC and now when I shut down the PC wont turn off . I get the screen that says it is now safe to turn off your computer. Any way to correct this?

theres not much on the subject but lizards got vista. If the above links dont help then look in device manager for yellow flags beside devices, and lizard maybe you have incompatible drivers or programs installed incompatable with vista or even incompatible with eachother like nero and easy crator or two antiviruses.

Ensure that ACPI is enabled in the BIOS and ensure the latest drivers for your motherboard are installed. When shutting down your computer, the OS communicates with the BIOS via ACPI to power off once shut down is complete. If the OS is not able to communicate with the BIOS, then it cannot power off and will just tell you it is safe to power down. Incorrect/Incompatible drivers for the computers chipset could cause this issue.
