Ok, so now they are upgrading it's own faults with SP1, whereas when some sucked in when first released... I'll still wait till it is at leat what this xp can do. most of the bugs have beed exterminateed now. xp at least half of what xp does for me. Same thing happened when xp came out. with drivers, printers etc.

You mean Vista Service Pack 1?

Vista was pretty solid at launch, took only a few weeks till Nvidia and ATI had solid drivers to go with Vista. Even security wise VIsta blows XP away, specially when XP launched, it was buggy to say the least.

games are still requiremnts for XP,,so i'll won't to rush to it.

SP1 was found to have too many bugs so it's being delayed for another 6-8 weeks.

How come that does not surprise me? lol

You must be talking about Vista SP1 wolfman as XP has SP2 already and SP3 is coming out for it very soon.

The SP1 beta i have tried it and it has some real good potential, faster internet connection fixes, faster data transfer fixes and many more.

AmdWolfman
02-06-2008, 07:10 PM
yep, after xp service pack comes out should be better.

Uhm try reading the article. It has already gone RTM, meaning CD pressings etc. No more changes to code are allowed. They were just pushing off the public launch date for 6 weeks.

However due to customer pressure, this is changing.

Maryms
02-07-2008, 11:00 AM
Well OEM builds will be out soon enough on the internet.

MAX POWER

RTM Great!
However 99% of us are "The Public"
So it's a 6-8 week delay.

Maryms

RTM = Return To Manufacturer

This means it is being sent back for Production.

The Oem Builders like Dell and others will get the release first. This has always been like this no matter what is produced.

The Consumers like many who bought Vista off the shelf will have to wait a little longer is all, but this may change as many ppl are pissed off and MS knows about it and may release it sooner then the 4-6 weeks that is talked about in that article.

ummm, sorry to burst your bubble but RTM = Release to Market or Release to Manufacturing. but it will still be about 6 weeks before it is available to the general public as there was an issue with it and a small amount of drivers, MS want's to clear that up before releasing it to the world

Maryms
02-07-2008, 12:24 PM
OMG release ... return.. my god = the samething HEMI and the M part is Manufacturing for the start of PRODUCTION.

Which was/is:

This means it is being sent back for Production.

Dusk: Every sentance in your original post would lead one to believe that "RTM" meant it was already released and had to be recalled. Even "This means it is being sent back for Production.", to me that means it was released already, but had to be recalled. Otherwise who was it being sent back from?

Maryms
02-07-2008, 06:14 PM
RTM = Return to Manufacturing for production or released to manufacturing.

Who was it coming back from? The testers, beta ppl, oem system builders who tested the RC1 and RC2 releases and now it has gone RTM after testing was OK, but MS states they need to fix a few things first before it is fully released to the public. They could be BSing to eliminate any aggressiveness from consumers as they are releasing it to OEM builders very very soon, weeks before consumers like you and i get a released copy of it.

RTM = RELEASED TO MANUFACTURING!!!!

This means the code base has closed, no more changes, and the code has been sent FROM production to the cd replicators.

Jeezus.

no some people don't get it because you said return!!! had you gotten it right by saying release the first time around this thread would be a lot shorter and i would not be wasting my time.

BTW return and release mean the OPPOSITE, not the same thing!!

This is what has been striking me [censored] odd. They state it's RTM, but at the same time they state they are holding it back because they want to make sure the driver issues are resolved. I fail to see how they are going to resolve the remaining driver issues without modifying the service pack...
I just hope they are not missing the ball here, and are planning hot fixes to repair the driver issues after you install SP1. That would be really stupid, as nobody is going to take the SP serious if you have to download hot fixes right after you installed it...

Performance Results Mixed with Vista Service Pack 1
Files copied faster in our initial tests, but other performance was slightly slower with the SP1 installed.
