Well this game looks like crap but I'm sure some company will come along an do it right and it will catch on bigger then guitar hero and that will be a sad sad day my friend. Suddenly every video game geek is trying to outshred each other when they would have never picked up a guitar in the first place if they couldn't play it through a damn screen.
I can't put a finger on why but I think this kind of thing will be the antichrist to real musicians who have spent countless hours learning from charts, scales and tabs only to have some punkass geeks that play a game scoff at them because they can do the same thing now by playing a game.
I've been to your place man and I know you play pretty good. This kind of thing doesn't make you a little paranoid that the music industry is about to become even more saturated with crap than it already is? Suddenly being a guitar player will be no big deal.
I don't like it.

I agree with you there on a lot of that, however it may prove to be a good learning tool for those who really want to learn how to play. Eventually they may even be brave enough to play with out the game! lol
For those of use who already know the trade, imagine the possibilities of truly jamming online.

Yeah I guess man I just feel that guitar players will lose alot of the mystique that was associated with being a great player and dedicating real time to your craft.
Just for an example I went to my buddy's the other night and I've been learning that song "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson. So I start jamming it on the acoustic I left at his house so I could play while I was there and he's like "big deal I can play that on expert on guitar hero can't be that much different" Friend or not I wanted to spit in his face for that comment.

Ya well some people don't have it in em to be a real musician. Guitar Hero and Rock Band are very fun and playable for us.

Nah, I think to be good you still have to sit down, take the time, and learn your $hit. C'mon now, the game is only going to have 30 songs (half of which are likely crap too lol) and do you think that anyone who plays this game for fun will be able to name any cords or write songs OR play songs without the tab on the screen? I doubt it. But even at that, some of us "real" players even need tab sometimes for the wicked tunes so what does that say? It takes a certain ear to be able to pick stuff out. Not everyone can do it. Hammering buttons that click and playing strings that make sound are two different things but don't get me wrong, Guitar Hero and RockBand are fun as hell to play.

My point exactly, lets see him say that if the song/game he played was the one this thread is about! I think Guitar Rising will open the eyes of all them button mashers who don't know the difference.

The thing that makes me laugh, is although I can play guitar half decently I have a hard time with Guitar Hero sometimes. Right now I'm only playing it on hard and took me a while to get there, granted I don't play too much but still....... some would think it's easy for actual players to pick up but I found it a tad harder then others would I think because it's so much different then a real guitar in some ways.
The drums in Rock Band are a different story! lol
After a few hours I was pounding away on the hard level. Tonnes of fun.
