Hans, nice OC on that cpu, have you OC'd the card yet?

With my opty and 8800 my best was just over 10k. Unfortunately, i was never able to run my quad with my 8800, as i traded the card for a camera. Im soon going to be stepping up my 8600 (which will handle crysis on medium with this processor(, but im yet undecided between an 8800GT or a 9600, the benches really arent that far apart.
Oh, choice, choices..

Glad to see the scores fellas, keep it up.

Lets see more screenies!

well, I am not finished OC my CPU. It's just starting to become interesting. The card is a factory oc, but I am sure I can pump some more out of it.
But first I have to oc the cpu to the max, then clean up my memory settings, followed by oc the video card.

no ken, that sounds about right... you OC the snot out of that cpu and you'll see a pretty big jump.. your cpu is holding back your vid card.

Im odering a new card next wednesday but im undecided between the 9600 or 8800GT, although im leaning more towards the 8800GT.

Not saying "my daddy can beat up your daddy" at all. Those are some nice scores, no one can argue that. I may go SLI, and having a Quad has my CPU score around the 4000 mark, although I'm not OCing it much till I get a new mobo, but I would love to see a score with my cards in SLI....or you cards with my CPU...lol.

I would love to upgrade mobo's but there's nothing new, the nforce 7 are just revamped nforce 6 chipsets. The PCIe 2.0 are enabled with a separate chip, and there's some lag there. Although the nforce 790i looks like a monster and I just saw then on NCIX recently.

As for the 9600's or even 9800x2's....there not even Dx10.1 yet so you and I with our G92 8800's are sitting pretty as they are beasts...and they didn't cost us a fortune.

i installed vista on my other mobo that had to be rma`d....i have to say i`m kinda scared of vista now, first time installing it and both my new mobo and new sata2 hd went, both dead after 2 days of use, now chances are it had nothing to do with vista but you know, first time with vista and first time dead mobo and hd, coincidence?? maybe.....maybe not LMAO.

i know it took me a while, but i finally got around to tuning this pig after i got my new board in. went with the p5n-D this time around, already have a much better OC on the cpu compared to the p5n-E. finally got to unleash this 8800GT /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

with a little more tweaking i plan to break 14,000.

specs in sig.

vid card is 680/1000 on stock cooling

edit: running a little hot for my liking at 3.2.. gonna have to wait till i get some better cooling on this thing, this OCZ heatsink aint cutting it.

I think Silverstone make solid PSU's, but when producing electronic components, no one's immune to popping out a dud here and there. I think their percentage of duds is very low, you being the first I've heard of from someone I know of. I have not heard of a dud or DOA from Silverstone from all the forums and reviews I've read, which has been dozens and dozens.

Sorry Rich, someone has to be the exception to the rule...lol.

It's also strange that they give you 3 scores based on their criteria, but then those scores don't add up to your final score, they come up with another number.

Vantage is nice but Vista only.

What did you gain with your new board Rich?

\m/ Rich \m/
06-02-2008, 05:53 PM
mostly a more stable OC, pci-e 2.0, x16 x16 sli capability and a heatsink on the NB LOL. i did see a bit of performance increase, it was tough hitting 13k on the old board and it did it no prob this time. probly because of the better OC. One thing im missing out on though is native support for DDR1066 - which is what my ram is

filthy
06-02-2008, 07:35 PM
Ya I know about our old mobos and quads, you cant OC very much. I think what is needed is the 8pin CPU power plug.

You can run your RAM @ 1066MHz tho eh? Board thinks your OCing but is it good?

\m/ Rich \m/
06-02-2008, 09:40 PM
only tried it once at 1066 and got no boot so i put it back to 800 and leave it unlinked

Ya I was sating that, knew it must be stock. That's why I got this new motherboard, it's a beast for OCing, and now that I'm off work for two, I have time to play ...lol. I'm aiming for 3.8GHz on he quad, I already know my FSB will be over 1600MHz. My 8800GTS 512MB's are each at 800/1800/2200, but now they will each be in x16 when in SLi and I'm also gaining PCIe 2.0 on both. Hoping all things involved will get me over 16,000. Vantage is also a tough bench, curious as to an increase there.

Anyone interested in organizing a monthly LAN & Chat? lmao

I'm hitting around 12,000 with the new sweet rig Rich built me. It was a Mother for him to build and everything that could go wrong did... but I couldn't do it myself and thank him. It far exceeds all expectations as far as gaming and home recording. Hell I'm even emulating ps2 games on this sucka now.

well 3Dmark06 with CPU @ 3.4GHz score was 16,692.
(RAM & video cards stock)

On to 3.6GHz and up till I peak...

Once my CPU > FSB max is found I'll do the RAM, then video cards. Will be interesting to see final score on 06 and Vantage.

filthy
06-19-2008, 08:57 PM
Well 3.9GHz is max, but I'm gonna stick at 3.6GHz @ 1.4V, leaves me with a nice idle temp of 32*C and load no more than 44*C.

Ram is good at 4-5-4-12 2T 900MHz 1.9V

Video cards are being tested, not sure if it's best to test each separately and then run them both at the lower cards' max.

Any suggestions? Sometime tomorrow will be running 06 and Vantage for final runs.

I have to agree with Killswitch, if your maxing out Crysis with your setup, it's got to be DX9.

As for why I run SLi, strange question. Why do you have a Quad instead of a dual core?

Boondock
06-20-2008, 02:50 PM
Ah I'm still a little wet behind the ears when it comes to PC gaming I had no idea DX10 was such a huge performance hit. I used all the DX9 tweaks to emulate all the effects of DX10 and it runs smooth as butter. Why did I go quad instead of dual? Rich told me so lol

it's at 3.6 on the CPU and it's a Pair of 4870's in crossfire.

Madmax

Very Nice Score for sure and two times 4850's running stock come close to that with similar CPU setup.

I read elsewhere 2 x 4850's OCed to 725/1100 and a CPU at 4.5ghz hit 21,5xx if i recall ... it was just higher then Mboys 2 4870's at stock.

1 X 4850 has been OC'ed to 950mhz, but stable at 925mhz on water cooling and the score was around 17000-18000.. wow ... on a CPU that was at 4.0ghz DUAL-CORE.

1 x 4850 stock was around 14,xx-15,4xx with a cpu around 4.0ghz DUAL-CORE.

I want to find Quad-Core benchies for the 4850's.

AMD/ATI has made some awesome cards this time round and the best bang for the buck is the 4850 selling around $189.00 to $199.00 that is awesome for the 4850 and to out perform the 8800 gt and 9800 gtx cards in many games on beta drivers for now is a good thing, cost less and is awesome little card.

There is Factory OC Versions coming out for both cards soon and i read the 4870 version will be OC stock at 800mhz.

Either way the 48xx series are making a huge impact in the gaming world right now.

Good Work Mboy67.
