Check in the dark corners of each room lay hammy food in a circle in each room and close the door. Check your toilet.

All we ever did was look under absolutely everything, even if it didn't look like the hammy could fit there. The first few times the little one got out, they continued to go back to the cage to retrieve bedding and food so they could build a new house.......when we got home we found trails. At that time, we didn't have a cat who liked to hunt. Hamsters like to stay close to the walls and under things if possible, so maybe follow the walls from the cage and listen closely like Kittie suggested.

Sorry to sound like sunshine too, but my male cat did eventually eat our hamster, he was young and enjoyed the hunt. He had stalked it for quite some time first then took the cage apart to get him when we weren't home. (Not longer a fan of habitrail connectors, /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif )

How long has the hamster been missing? They can wander pretty far if given the time to do so. I would advise putting the cat in another room as cats will eat hamsters. When ours escaped the one time we didn't find him till later that night. He had gone and curled up somewhere to sleep for the day. We heard him rustling around in the laundry room lol

Goodluck finding your hamster /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

We lost our hamster in the house once for 2 weeks. He just showed up one day in the bathroom. I dont know where he was but I did find evidence of him chewing on electrical cords. We would leave his cage on the floor with food and water in it hoping to catch him. We dont have a cat though. Good luck.

well...Kinda funny to read this.. about 2 weeks ago... I was hanging something in my daughters room.. and her hamster(buttercup) was in her in her sleeping den.. well I did not realize I had nocked one of the tubs loose.. Well today I go move our couch to find.. she musta been out for a few days but going back to her cage at bed time to be in there cause she has food hid in every corner behind our couch.. BUT she will and always comes in mine and my husbands room right up on our pillows.. SHE will scratch beside our ear to wake us.. shes been out 4 times since june.. lucky shes not a gonner.. cause she can fit in our heater vents.. cold air return.. to hot air vents.. and luckys she not got into the ferrets cage or the ferrets have not found her out...cause shed be gone.. MY ferrets are great mousers...

but I never have had to look for her.. like I said she comes to us.. right up on our pillows.. will scratch till she wakes us.. and usually around midnight when she comes out.. when the kids are all tucked in... I usually never know shes out.. cause she is usually in her cage When I tuck my daughter in..

SOrry I have no tricks.. but thats how it is for us.. as to getting up onto our bed.. she gets up either by climbing up the back of night stand.. or up the dust ruffle.. up the matress and up to our pillows.... all 4 times shes been out we find her on our pillow

AS much as I hate to say IT IM going to miss the [censored] outa her when she passes on.. cause shes so cute..

one other trick I have heard of is make a stairs outa books.. up to a aqarium as they cannot get outa aqaruims.. and let it go up the stair and it will moreless fall inot the tank.. and be there. but put little food at the top.. so it has to go to the top..

Im giving her away because im not here very much and my mom works. leaving the cat the house to his own. He likes the hamster a little to much. and he opens my door .
