View Full Version : How about them Hounds!!!!
...send me to the Sports forum if you like, but the Hounds are really making this community proud. We are one win away from the Western Conference Finals - we haven't been there in 11 years.
It's the way the Hounds are winning that makes it so special. They are grinding it out and winning despite some great challenges in the playoffs. We are seeing some very special play from our local team.
Just you watch, Hound Fever is about to hit the Soo in the coming days.
Go Hounds Go! I believe you can go all the way!

Then...they play the Rangers and it's over. Good run though, but that's as far as anyone sees them going.

Anything can happen - remember last year when the Hounds were down 3-0 to the powerful nights and brought it all the way to a game 7? I agree it will be difficult to beat the Rangers (provided they do get past Guelph), but I think they can do it.

Well, if they were playing well, I'd have a different opinion, but they aren't. The only reason they're up 3-1 is because Guelph is playing worse. Once you get past Buck, there's nothing left. For all the hype about Doughty and McCollum, they sure haven't played the part. That, and the fact the hounds have had great PK in the series. ES and PP have been atrocious and if not for McCollum playing like he has no legs, the series could still be in OT from game # 1.
consider this - The Storm have had 26 power play opportunities in four games; that's nearly a full game on the PP, 4 of which were lengthy 5-3's. The Hounds have only had 13 PP 6 of which have been shortened by the Hounds getting a penalty called against them.
I think it amazing that we're one win away from ending this series, playing short-handed against a team that traps the heck out of you and keeps 3-4 guys back all the time.
Should we be lucky enough to get to the next round against Kitchener, we will match up very well against their run and gun style. We are built for that type of hockey. Juice is on a mission right now and is seeing the puck very well.
Oh and Mason left the game in Sarnia tonight with a groin pull. No word yet on the severity.

Its gonna be a great game tomorrow at SBC - better find an old clip from the early 90's with the teams "We can't be beat, we won't be beat" chant for the start of the game Koss /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Last nights game was better for the Hounds. They forechecked better, moved the puck better and didn't allow the few Guelph forwards with speed to get around them on the outside. They deserved to win. They will have to play alot better to beat the Rangers.
The Rangers don't play the trap. We'll match-up well against them.
Heck, Guelph pulled their goalie for over 5 minutes in the third and we didn't score; they just play a very sound defensive game. Unfortunately for them, when they made a mistake, we made them pay. That's what good teams have to do.
Going into the Conference Finals, our best players have to be our best players and we need production from 2&3 lines. If we can shut down Kitchener's top line, our team depth will take us to the finals.
Should be an exciting series. It's nice to see Greyhound Hockey still going on in the middle of April. Let's hope we're still playing in the May!

This definately has the potential to be the best playoff hockey we've seen here in years - although last years London series comeback was pretty exciting. I really think the Hounds can beat the Rangers if they can continue to play sound defense and capitalize on what will likely be very limited offensive opportunities.
hounds gotta get traffic infront of mason and get shots on him.
Are u listening Godfrey? shoot the dam puck!

Well, if not for the slow start and taking the stupid penalties in the 3rd, they pretty much dominated the game. They'll have to stay out of the box if they expect to beat the Rangers. Ask Sarnia
get ur head out of ur butt quesnelle!
great game by juice and campbell!
GO HOUNDS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Great goals by Caria and Simmonds! We're coming home for the most important hockey the Hounds have played in a decade in the Soo!
Seven wins away from the Memorial Cup.
Go Hounds Go!

If Juice hadn't played the game he did, they would be coming home down 2-0. Hounds played terrible and if they keep taking stupid penalties against the best team in the CHL, it'll be a short series. They need to play better. Getting lucky isn't going to work forever. That said, Juice really played great and it's becoming apparent he may end up getting a call from an NHL team this summer.
We will win the next game! I can feel it.

Juice was amazing but the Hounds haven't played terrible; they've just played differently then what we've watched all year. They are playing the trap now and concentrating on keeping the Rangers' shots to the perimeter. The Hounds are patiently looking for the Rangers to make mistakes and to take advantage of them. The Rangers are faster than us and a bit more gifted in the finish department. Hartsburgh is smart; if we can't beat them at their game, then make them play ours. It worked to perfection last night. Our coach has prepared the Hounds to be able mix lines and to play both the run-and-gun and the shut-down styles of play. We've have more depth in the later than the Rangers do!
If the Rangers falter on Sunday, watch us make them pay.
Go Hounds Go!

I have to assume you watched the game last night, but for the life of me, I can't understand where you got the idea they played our game. They smoked us at every turn and had absolutely no problem getting into our zone and controlling the puck. If not for Juice, the score could easily have been 7-3. If the Hounds are going to beat them, they need to play them the same way they did when they broke Kit's winning streak late in the season. Banging and fighting for every single inch. Kit isn't a big team and the biggest problems they faced was with teams with depth who were physical.

Not a bad first period, ref aside. Where was Godfrey's backup on that goal. No way the two players behind the rusher should be opposing players when they're shorthanded.
godfrey should be bench. he is a liability, he's just not that good.
read above post. it was a good year hounds, see u next season.
