you know, I find it strange when very young teens, express that they are gay. I mean, can a 12 or 13 year old really be "gay" as in that is their sexual preference for life?

It seems to me, that they havent experienced enough life to know for certain, that they are gay! WOuldnt you really think that maybe at that age, they are experimenting?

The difference? there isnt any. How does a child know at 12, or 13, that they will never be gay? They are just learning about the sexual part of their nature. How can they be so finite in that they can say they will never try the other side.

as for Gay topics. I dont think its such a bad topic. I was simply curious. A friend of mine lets her daughter sleep at a friend's house, a guy friend, and because they boy claims he is gay, she doesnt worry about it. I just dont believe at such a young age, a child can be so finite about a sexual preference, regardless of what it is. and gay or not gay, there is no way my 14 year old daughter is sleeping at some guy's house. lmao

lol, i cant remember that far back.

actually, i wasnt dating boys till i was about 15. and no there wasnt any girls before that. lol. I just wasnt interested in any of it until I was 15. Its amazing that statistics state that most kids are having sex by the age of 12 years old.

I agree. That so sad. Somewhere that little boy got the idea that being gay was so dangerous that he had to protect himself with violence. It's sad and avoidable.

I believe that children are aware of thier sexuality at an early age, well before they hit puberity.

I know for sure that I knew I liked boys as far back as I can remember. When I was between 10-14 we hung out with a large group of people, two of the guys were gay. This was 30 years ago and they of course kept it to themselves. But they were my age and knew without a doubt that they were gay, and we did too.

I can't believe some of you think its a choice, how uninformed you are. You cannot choose your sexuality, and if you think differently, your head is messed up and you are probably in denial yourself. Alot of people in the soo are gay and are married, even have kids. It's a pitty that you can't truly be who you want to be because the idiots of society say it is wrong. BE YOURSELF. Children know that they are gay, and if they are brave enough to say it, then support them every which way you can. Having an openly gay child is much better than having an afraid, suicidal closeted child. Most teen suicides happen because they feel that they have nowhere to turn to for support.

I can tell you as a child at a very young age (About 12 or so) I knew I liked boys differently than I liked girls. I didn't quite understand how, but back then at that young of an age we really didn't know anything about sex, that came later. So it does not suprise me at all that given this generation knowing more about sex than we did at their age that they can most certanly know their sexual preference. Now, I'm not saying they know without a doubt that they will never be straight, just like a kid at that age could never know for sure they will never be gay, but for the time being, I would say they know how they feel about members of the same/opposite sex currently
