View Full Version : licence back

jaydee

I was just wondering why one has to go through the whole kit and kaboodle again if they dont go to renew their licence after a DUI. This re-instatement fee is a fair amount and I was told if someone doesnt go soon to call to go re-test, then their actual G Class licence will expire??? Now why would I have to be rushed to get it back or else it will go back to the graduated licensing system like when i was 16??? Come on now, you dont forget how to drive just like you dont forget how to ride a bicyle.

Then again, its probably another business tactic to get more money out of ya!!!!!!!

If you let it expire for awhile you have to start all over again to get new license

But everyone, and I do mean everyone knows it is illegal and dangerous to drink and drive. I was in a very bad accident 9 years ago because of a drunk driver, and I also lost my grandfather to a drunk driver. I think a fine is too lenient. I have suffered from chronic pain since that accident and also missed out on knowing my grandfather because of a drunk driver.

Chaotic Chick

Regardless of my personal experiences, I still think a fine is too lenient. You managed to drink and drive without harming yourself or someone else but that is not always the case, hence the laws. You were aware of the dangers, and the law when you committed the offence.

It's easy for me; I rarely drink and have only driven twice in my life. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif So it has never even crossed my mind to drink and drive. I am usually the "holder of the keys" when I am out with my friends because they know I won't drive, I am terrified to drive.

Convicted drunk drivers should be punished based on the severity of the incident. They should receive an automatic lifetime ban from driving. If they kill someone, then they should have to serve 2 years in prison followed by execution. The two years so they can reflect on how stupid they were, and how they ruined their life, followed by the end.

might as well forget that idea cuz to drive a company vehicle, you would need to submit a drivers abstract for their insurance company.
their rates would increase because you a " higher driving risk"
hence, most companies, when looking for drivers ask for a clean drivers abstract or at least a minor offence - not a dui!!!
forget any company vehicle until the dui is off your abstract (3 years minimum)!

well i find it stupid how if you stay away and dont re-instate your licence by taking the DUI course, your licence reverts back to a G1 the to G2 and the whole graduated system over again? thats stupid my licence shouldnt be touched at all, bad enough it got suspended for the 2 years

thank you... so do i! lol

I waited until i was in my 20's to get my license... i was not responsible enough to even think about it. I too did the graduated license crap... plus took drivers ed. i was nervous, but learned correctly.

and i did have to jump thru hoops to get jobs in the sault... i took jobs that were beneath me and sometimes worked two craptastic jobs to help take care of my family. when it is do or die... you dont worry about where you work... you JUST WORK!

i am in the same situation in the states (about lack of jobs) this state has the highest rate of NO AVAILABLE JOBS... i also have to deal with all the illegals getting jobs at a much lower rate... so jobs here are scarce.

but people still get jobs. in two weeks i will be looking... and i bet you in two weeks and one day i will have a job. because i will make sure of it.

and as far as a license... well, that is easy... i am no moron.

had to pay for the beginners test, then paid 2 days later to do the g2, then a month later got my full licence back....but i dont know if that applies for a dui

I AM GLAD TO SEE THE MEMBERS ARE FED UP! I am so glad to see people saying quit your whining and do something about it! Maybe now that a lot of us have said it... things will be better... if not, I think the mods need to seriously step in and do something about it

Hey Mooochi!!!!!! If you really want a job, free training, benefits, ability to choose various job opportunities and a pension plan.......try the armed forces. I hear they are hiring. I mean you've exhausted every other avenue possible to man, this city sucks for employment, and nobody ever gives you a chance. I can't believe you never thought of that.

mooch, here's athought.... every time hortons in town has signs up saying "NOW HIRING". cross country has one up. NCO has one up. also, if you have your highschool diploma, no union is going to turn you away, i know this for a fact as my ENTIER family is involved in the trades and has been for years. About the only thing you cant walk right into in a union is welding, for which you need a CWB. Also, the labourers union is alwayslooking, and pay starts at $33/ hour. Ontario works will pay you $600 entry fee into the labourers union, and the only thing you need is a high school diploma/ GED. No licence s required. Al thats left for you to do is get off your lazy rear end and go to any one of the places i just listed. I dont want to hear another word from you about the "lack of jobs". between praxair and the hospital project, there will be labour work available in this city for at least the next 8 years. GOOD PAYING WORK.

Because of a drunk driver, I live in daily pain. I know what an [censored] who drinks and drives is capable of. Besides, if I were an employer, I would also do a criminal background check. I wonder if a DUI would come up in one of those? /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/idea.gif

sorryt for anything that may have happened to you but i already been to few interviews and although they asked if i did a criminal offense, i left it blank but then they asked anyways and told the truth cause it would come out eventually they would find out they said it wouldnt affect my partcular job seeing that theres no driving involved

I am 18.

I have had three job interviews at three different places where I did not know anybody - no family - no friends - nobody.

How did I get the job? Did I just waltz in and get my first pay cheque? No. I got interviewed and got a phone call just like most of the other people.

There are some people who get jobs by knowing someone, but not everyone. Some people try hard and succeed.

But here is a hint: When I had my very first job interview, I did not question whether to brush my hair and wash my face. I did it. I suppose, the equivalent to shaving for a man.

Really? Because my boyfriend very easily found himself employment to get him along while in school. And, I can guarantee he will easily find employment one he finishes his schooling.

I think attitude goes a very long way when it comes to employment. Try proving yourself without complaining. No one likes a whiner. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Nobody usually gets caught the first time they drink and drive...meaning you no doubt have done it in the past and you finally got caught. My best friend used to drink and drive until he ran into a rock cut outside of Sudbury and killed 3 people including himself.....you got off lucky...so quit your sucking.
