They must have opened the gates some more...

So Hans, what does this mean, connection wise? What type of connection should allow this type of speed?

As you know, I have a 16 mbps cable connection. Does this mean I should be topping off at 16000 kb/s ? Do you have the equivalent of a 26 mbps connection? Maybe I am wrong in thinking that I should be faster than I am. I pulled the connection out of my computer, and put it into my wife's new laptop, and the speedtest showed high 15000's kb/s.

I guess the question is, what should I reasonably expect from a 16 mbps cable connection?

Shaw is using power boost which basically opens up the pipe fully for the first 10 megs and then levels off. Being that the speed test uses less than 10 megs of file to transfer, the speed test shows basically a totally open connection. If it was a longer test, Hans would be back down to about 10,000/968kb/s. If you are on 16Mbps, you should be getting around 16,000kbps then, but read the other thread where you were having problems.

Thanks again - This really clears it up for me. I was unaware of the power boost, and I was (as you said) therefore comparing apples to oranges.

Thanks again,
