1994 dodge ram 1500 318 220k

the truck starts out in second or third gear when you come to a stop.. if you drop it into first and hit it, it'll drop and then go..

changed the trans oil, filter, and pan gasket.. no metal shavings, some gunk in the pan and valve body but not much...

any ideas?

It may be PAST time.

There's usually less pressure in the higher gears to hold the clutches, since they don't need it. A tranny that starts in second won't last long.

I say we have a big bonfire with the truck in the center.

Look on the bright side.

By the time you fix all this, you'll know it's dependable!!

If you get a tranny job, get a high stall converter, and a shift kit put in.

Makes a big difference.
