Looking for an idea of how much it would cost right now to hire a DJ for a wedding. For those who have recently gotten married or will be recently getting married , could you let me know how much it cost? A friend of mine is going to DJ my wedding but he hasn't done it in a few years and I want to make sure I pay him fairly for his time and services. He has asked me to quote him a price but I have no idea and don't want to be cheap about it! Help, please?

So $400 is a reasonable amount then? Meal for 2 included.

Thanks!

I almost asked the same question on here last night!
I'm happy that they cost less than my estimated $500.

If you want my honest advice, it's the most important day of your life and your putting the entertainment in the hands of someoene who hasn't dj'd in a couple of years, which could be a bad move. A professional would give you some peace of mind, and booking the right dj is the second most important decision when organizing a wedding. It will make it or break it, there is no in between in this town.

i am currently djing a stag, as we speak... IM me, i will talk to the boss, generally hes charging around 200-300 depending on how long you want us there... example tonite is from 530 until about 2... he is a professional with great equipment and years of experience, i have been djing myself for about two an a half years now... like i said IM me and ill get you a price /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Actually just came back from a stag and the DJ's were absolutely HORRIBLE. It wasn't yours, though, because I know who you are Charlibean and I'm sure you would have done a much better job. These guys never spoke a word the entire time and didn't play a single song that was less than 20 years old. It was horrendous.

As for professional vs. a friend... rest assured that my friend IS a professional and even though he may not have DJ'ed in a few years, he is a professional sound engineer and I know first hand that he knows his stuff as I've worked with him many times. He'll do a great job. I'm a musician and most of my friends are also musicians. I wouldn't have anyone handling the music that doesn't know what they are doing.
