A book to read:

"Love and Death in the Valley is a contemporary David and Goliath tale that will inspire and challenge the reader. It is the personal story of Reverend Kevin Annett, the minister who single- handedly exposed the murder and genocide of aboriginal people by the government of Canada and his employer, the United Church of Canada."

We the group of Indigenous People known as the Circle of Justice for Victims and Survivors of Native Residential Schools, would like to explain to you how Professor James Craven became involved in our cause on our behalf.

Our group was formed in 1997 to help survivors of res schools. One of our founding members was and excomunicated United Church minister, Kevin Annet. Our aim was to gather testimony from people who had suffered sexual and physical abuse at these schools. This testimony was to be taken to the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

On June12-14, 1997 a Tribunal on this matter was held in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Our advisor Kevin Annet worked very closely with Rudy James ( a member of the Board of Directors for the International Human Rights Association of American Minorities), in organizing this tribunal.
Professor James Craven was asked by IHRAAM to be on the panel of judges.
One of the first people called to give testimony was the ex-minister Kevin Annet. He gave sacred oath that he would tell the truth. He swore that he was not working in any way for his own personal gain.

it's sad all the horrible things that happened at those 'schools'. i have a freind who was sent to one, like so many others, and he went through a lot of scary stuff there that is still haunting him today.
