If your mother sent you out to buy some potassium hydroxide, where would go to you buy it?

That's Drano, which you can't buy anymore.

I believe it's also used in hot tanks to clean engine parts in an automotive machine shop. Also on the way out.

well either Rona or Home Hardware for lye, yeah if its a medical thing maybe a pharmacy but i think its more industrial maybe? is it for cleaning?

Try a garden center, call around first. If she is using it in the garden to balance the PH.

There are many uses for it, what is it being used for ?

i would tell my mom to tell where to get it or get it herself. lol. it is probably not even available anymore though so good luck
