A black gay activist who is also an ex-con is suing Zondervan Publishing and the Tennessee-based Thomas Nelson Publishing, claiming their versions of the Bible that refer to homosexuality as a sin violate his constitutional rights and has caused him emotional pain and mental instability. Media story published July 9th, 2008 by the Grand Rapids Press and WOOD Channel 8 (with video) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Also picked up by Western Voices World News and WorldNetDaily. Discussion on Free Republic, the Vanguard News Network Forum, and Stormfront.

Bradley LaShawn Fowler, 39 (pictured above left), is seeking $60 million from Zondervan, based in Cascade Township, and another $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in the lawsuits filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Which Bibles DON'T refer to homosexuality as a sin?

Of course this is about human rights and not money.

The emotional pain is not immediately obvious of course but the mental instability is glaringly obvious. It's fortunate for McDonald's he's not carrying a cup of their finest. Ahhh yes... money the universal salve, the cure all that requires no prescription. He may be an ex con but he's nimble of thought as well as not adverse to publicity to achieve an end. You just know that there will be those amongst us that mentally kick themselves for not having thought of this themselves. Seventy million dollars will go a long way to helping dry the tears.

What a whack job. And I do mean that in the kindest, most politically correct way possible.

True, Bluesky.

I guess Zondervan is handy, considering that the original publishers are long gone. Like 3000 years or so.

That is possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. What a moron. Talk about frivolous lawsuits...

well ... this is the world we live in. TV had edited out the word "God". Hasnt been able to be said in forever now.

Oh well. Some people just want money lol. Myself ... one million will do just fine. See ... if he was smart ... he could go for 2-5 million. The people would be so pissed off, they'd just say here take it. It's an insignificant ammount. Meanwhile ... smart guy wants 70 million lol.

He figures if he asks for 60 million he might get $100 and be paid off in Hebrew money.

i bet someday someone will win a case like this maybe not against the publishers but against someone in the religion that states being gay is wrong or dirty or whatever it says. 60 million is a lot to ask considering the book is old and a lot of the morals in it don't apply society as a whole anymore. he's just trying to get money for free from somewhere and this is the best way he could think of doing it.
