They're playing on Queen St. Saturday night.
That's the one I'm looking forward too as well.

blah blah blah
How about some real enterainment, sure these are local bands and good for filling the day and just like the last 2 concerts that flopped , only appeal to a small group of people.
How come other cities have Big Name Recording acts for there Community Celebration and we run with local bands and no beer tent.

Because those other cities have the revenue, we don't. The city won't fork out the money for better fireworks so you think they'll pay for a big name band? Get a grip on reality. If you want to see the big bands then you have to move.

the point behind rotaryfest second stage is to support local original music (however this somehow got skewed a bit this year...). that is why it is on smaller stage and hosted on a smaller scale - to give local bands the opportunity to be part of a larger festival. it really is a great idea seeing as there are many local bands of all ages playing a vast array of musical genres. i was fortunate to have played in the first and second renditions of the 2nd stage event and it was a very large success.. and as a member of a maturing band - it was a great honour and meant alot to us in our infant stages of our group
however i do agree that the main stage should be better equipped with bigger name bands seeing as it is a community festival. glorifying a cover band on a main stage doesn't seem right to me.. sure it does appeal to people but i don't see why they cant bring say Barenaked Ladies, Our Lady Peace or other bigger named Canadians bands to the fold
and no Simba that isn't the case. the riders for these bands are not unusually large - it resorts to a lack of effort. contacting major label band agencies is an easy process and the booking agents are usually more than accomodating if you provide a reasonable offer

I would just like to point out, once again, that the Cowboy Junkies are playing on Queen St. Saturday night.
This is a band that has been nominated for two Juno awards and whose lead singer was once voted by People Magazines as one of the top most Beautiful People In The World(still has a crush on Margot).
OK, it's not your favourite chick singer(insert one here), but come on!
hits include:
"Sweet Jane"
"Sun Comes Up, It's Tuesday Morning"
"Murder, Tonight, in the Trailer..."
"Anniversary Song"
"A Common Disaster"
This is for FREE people
If you can ever see a free concert on Queen St. or anywhere else in this town. I'd like to hear what it is and where!

Enjoy Rotaryfest everyone.

spend a $1000 bucks to see Eagles or spend $0 to see Cowboy Junkies?
Tough decision.

Most of us will be spending the $0 to see the Cowboy junkies! Thank you very much! But wish we had the $1,000 to see the Eagles! Is this the "Hell freezes over 2" tour?

I love Rotaryfest! I have gone for a few years now (actually, missed last year because of a softball tourney) Plus, with the beautiful addiction to our boardwalk, it will make for a great night!

You don't need it, but it's nice to have IMO. Anyone know why there won't be a beer tent?
