Just want to say how impressed I was this evening with the staff there. My Dad was brought in there tonight and he was treated with great compassion and concern by Mike and the rest of the staff.

By "Mike and the staff", do you mean the jugglers and circus clowns they brought in for entertainment, as your dad waits six days to see a doctor?

Hey RWGR instead of being an idot when someone pays someone a compliment for doing a good job and the fact that you may have to wait to be seen like everywhere else in canada why don't you give me your number and I'll personally call you when it's quite in there and you can come down and be seen at a more reasonable time frame you could have come in last sat night there was no one that came in for over two hrs so does that suit your fancy!
And I have dealt with Mike and he is a real nice guy and very professional in his work but if you get the British guy he is always good for a laugh and awesome with the kids.

Ya they are just do great over there I still love the fact that I can go into the hospital for and extended stay and come out and have a house to goto rather then having to sign it over to the hospital so that I can live,or better yet die in there ER because I have no insurance and the doctor refusing to see me because I can't pay them and get send to the ghetto hospital because they are the only one's that will take you just so you can die waiting to be seen there. Oh lets not forget there friendliness mmm the lady that had a heart attack in new york and everyone including staff walked by her as she was face first on the waiting room floor for two hrs dead. So blow wind up someone else's butt before you dump on are's. Funny my cousin is up from Toronto and we where talking about the wait times and they do have the options of many hospitals togo to there and most no which to go to and not she said you can goto sunnybrook and wait 4-6 hrs and still be lucky to be seen so we actually don't have it that bad here the biggest wait when your in is waiting for the lab to get the results back so the doctor can go from there.
And you being an American after Sicko came out you don't have nadda to say about are health care system......

Yeah, right.......

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080806/ap_on_he_me/med_er_waiting

"The average time that hospital emergency rooms patients wait to see a doctor has grown from about 38 minutes to almost an hour over the past decade, according to new federal statistics released Wednesday."

"A shortage of surgical specialists also contributes. So, too, does the difficulty many patients have in getting appointment to doctor's offices which causes some to turn to emergency departments, experts said."

""It takes me a month to get an appointment for my own doctor, and I'm a physician, for God's sake," said Dr. Ricardo Martinez, an Atlanta emergency physician. He is executive vice president of Schumacher Group, an organization that manages about 140 hospital emergency departments."

"This report is very troubling, because it shows that care is being delayed for everyone, including people in pain and with heart attacks,"

I was at the hospital on Monday night and didn't have much of a wait. It wasn't for me. We had a Mike guy from London England as the Nurse and he was great. Got a ton of chuckles. I was very pleased for the service that was given to my family member that night. The doctor was good also.

When i went into emerge last week, the night nurse was the most wicked person i have ever had to deal with in my life. I was passing a kidney stone and she didn't have a care in the world. Today i had that exact same pain and i was trying to hold off as long as i could so i didn't have to go there.... But i am so happy i did. They took me in right away and made sure i was as comfortable as possible. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant, i actually felt like i was being taken care of rather than punished. It was a relief...

That sucks you had a difficult nurse last week, lovearchie.

Did you finally pass the stone? It hurts to pass them, but it is a lot better than waiting several months to get them surgically removed. I had to do that many times. Hope you are feeling better! I know the pain all too well.

Actually turns out its not a stone.... It may have been a stone that i may have already passed, but it doesn't show in the cat scan. I have a infection called Pyelonephritis, which is what is causing the pain/ nausea/ diarreah... you name it ... i've got it. And i still feel terrible. It went away for about 2 days, and then i spent the weekend in emerge for the pain. But they were also great all weekend. It's impressive and i am so thankful they had patience with me. Nothing is more annoying than when they don't give a crap about you and are throwing you out the door. It did help that mommy was there, and shes an RN. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

08-27-2008, 01:19 PM
That infection is almost as painful as the stone and very serious. It could have been caused by a stone, if you did happen to pass one. I hope you feel better soon. It does take a while to recover from the infection.

The ER staff are awesome. I was in for a dislocated shoulder, had xrays, and my shoulder set, and was out the door 2 hours after arriving.

I can't say the same for a particular pony tailed doctor at the walk in clinic.
The most arrogant, condescending, and uncaring "professional" I have met. And to add insult to the rudeness, he didn't treat either of the issues that brought me there.

Oh he's a peice of work that one. He used to be my MIL an FIL's doctor before he closed his practice. As far as I'm concerned he was nothing but a pill pushing lunatic. My mil had so many pills she didn't know if she was coming or going. She ended up dying a terrible painful death in Toronto due in part to his lack of concern for her. In the six weeks that she lay in the burn unit of hospital in TO he did not once call to check on her. After she had been his patient for way too many years.

He's a jerk without question in my opinion.

I guess they got the lovely letter I sent today, because I got a call from the ER manager.
Copy of the letter went to the doc, the College of Physicians & Surgeons, the CEO of the hospital, and my city councilor.
If he loses a night's sleep over it, and maybe listens to his patients, I'll feel a bit better.
It was a bit of work to write, and find out where it should go, but hey!... It's because everyone just takes it, that lets him get away with it.
I'm quite proud of the fact that I wrote a 2 page letter, and didn't use a single expetive LOL.

Two guys get to the Pearly Gates, one guy dressed in greasy coveralls, the other in a doctor's coat.. There's a huge line up.
They both walk up to the front of the line, and St. Peter lwaves the doctor on through, and tells the guy with the coveralls to go wait at the end of the line.
"What's up with that?" he asks. "Just because he was a doctor, doesn't mean he should get special treatment here!"

"Oh, no!" said St. Peter. "That's God...sometimes He likes to play doctor.

OK I'll tell you about my recent emerg visit.

last wed, i was in my neighbourhood bar & I figured out that i could get up on the bar and dance.
i fell off & landed on the flat of my back & cracked my head too.
i was out but was woken & don't remember the bar & anything else until until taken by ambulance to the hospital.
apparently, when the paramedics came, i was pushing them away & I am told that my eyes rolled over & i was white as a sheet.
so, while getting x rays, i passed out again & was helped to the gurney.

get this:

doc comes in...i can't move to save my life, tells me x rays are fine, gives me 2 tylenols and releases me!

Wow, maybe i should have done that with my first visit when i had the rotten nurse that made me cry. She wouldn't even let my fiance come in and sit with me until SHE was done. She was being hateful about everything! Maybe i wouldn't have had to come back 2 more times to find out what was wrong with me if they cared the first time i was there. I didn't know kidney stones were just minor, the doc didn't even send me in for a CT scan or an ultrasound... He told me it COULD be a cyst or just a bladder infection. But thankfully when my mother pretty much MADE me go the second time after being in pain for 4 hours, everyone was delightful and made me feel much better about being there. I usually don't let people get to me when they are being rotten... but because i was in so much pain, i didn't know what else to do.. other than to cry LOL.

Yeah a runny nosed kid got in before him, a older lady with a bad cough got in before him, a guy who was only there to get more meds for his daughter got in before him and a few others with small colds to rashes .... so it is BS about what that sign says.

Stitches is more important then the common fking cold or rashes or meds for a guys daughter in which it was only meds for anxiety (which his daughter was not there with him).

how do you tell off a doctor? /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif</div></div>

Simple when you have waited 4-5 hours like i had to do so for my son to get stiches .. i told the Doctor and a Few other staff members off about it.

They got a little pissy of course so i did back as i don't care, we ppl deserve proper medical care in a proper timely manner, not wait hours upon hours.

If you are in the E-room, you will get served in accordance to need. However, if you are refered to the walk in you wait according to first come, first serve. So it is likely you where sent to the walk in and you and your son had to wait for the people that where there first. If you where in the Emergency area a "snot nosed kid" would not be there unless there was a more sever issue than the snotyness of their nose.
This is probably why you did not get a reasponce MM You where being a douche-bag.

I had kidney failure and people with runny noses got in before me, because "they don't have family doctors" which I do. Yes, but my family doctor told me "your kidneys are failing go to the ER NOW!!!!!!" Go figure. So I got myself a urine specimen cup, gave it to my husband to show the nurse, he yelled at her as I lay on the floor and when she saw the urine specimen I was in there within a minute. I have to say that is the only complaint I have had, but it was a serious issue. I literally could have died.

I have no other complaints about the nurses but I have had my issues with the afore mentioned doctor. He was pretty mean to me the last time I went in there, and acted like I was a whiney little baby.

Bah the SAULT sucks for medical care and has always done so.

Limited Doctors = no money to pay for good ones or more of the non good ones.

Limited Staff = cause they all got smart and left town to make more money then what is offered here.

Even when the new hospital is built ... this will not change and we will still have BAD service.

My surgeon was supposed to call but he didn't have time right then and told me to tell the nurse he sent me there. I couldn't even register, there were probably 15 people ahead of me.

Almost ALL hospitals are the same.

There are the same amount of doctors as there were 20 years ago. The problem is, family practitioners are choosing to take less of a patient load. This is causing the ER's to fill up. So we are not the only ones suffering.

The younger doctors want "a life". They want more time to spend with their families, etc. It's just how it is now. They will only take a certain patient load and that is their perogative.

That is why we need more young people to go to med school. If I were young, I would certainly be interested in going that route, but at my age, I had to decide to get my college over in the next 4 years. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif
