Anybody here use them?

I was looking at a few newsgroups in the alt.binaries and they seem to have a really high completion rate and the retention looks like it's 30 days. I have to say I was very suprised to see that, isp's usenet usually suck and shaw's hasn't been this good in the past.

It's not their service, they "rent" it from a reseller.

It may not be their servers but it is a part of their service.

I have been using it for the last week and all I have to say so far is goodbye torrents.

i prefer torrents myself. i used to use newsgroups a lot before torrents became popular...and i loooooved it....but its just a pain in the butt as far as im concerned..between trying to repair missing/broken files, and not really being able to choose what you want to download...

mind you they were AWESOME and still are better at getting brand new stuff as soon as it comes onto the scene.

Yeah, I used to use them years ago, before discovering torrents. It was a lot of work back then, it's a lot easier now. I've been using nzb's and grabit which automates the whole repair/extract process. Joined a few nzb sites and found a couple decent binary search engines which can create nzb's. Not really much more work than using torrents, as far as I'm concerned. The fact you don't have to connect to "peers" is a bonus and no uploading saves on bandwidth.
