They should admit they did not create the best OS with Vista, and push for a Windows 7 release instead of yet another SP for Vista.

I agree its not the best OS, but it works flawlessly for me and is now very similar in gaming speeds as (32-bit XP with Sp2) was/is.

So to me 64-bit Vista Ultimate is awesome, of course a person needs a kick arse PC to get the full benefit from it ... video card ... processor ... 4GB or memory ... otherwise ppl will see the hinderance of Vista.

Vista Basic and Premium are ok for the low-end TO the mainstream systems, premium is like XP HOME with SP2 and XP pro with SP2 combined is the bess way to describe it, Basic is a severly ripped down version of Vista Premium.

I like Ultimate 64-bit Vista, but i would have never tried to run it daily on my older Opteron PC, even though i tried it .... it was WAYYYY to slow.

I just hope with Windows 7 they realize they need to have a version for Laptops. Vista is not good on the laptops I have used, and all those laptops were Vista certified.
I just hope for something good, but somehow have a bad feeling about it. (Going by what I have heard about Windows 7 so far).

I beg to differ, im running vista 64 on an opteron 165 @ 3.0ghz with 2gb of ram and an 8800 GT, and this machine flies, i can play every game i own @ 1680x1050 with every setting cranked except crysis,(have to play that at 1440 x 900 on high)and World in conflict which i play @ 1440x900 as well but every setting cranked up full tilt and i get no chop, lag or crap outs.

Windows 7 is said to be based on Windows Server 2008 rather than Vista. Due to that, it will gain the added benefit of the stability and security of Windows Server, while at the same time delivering driver compatibility with existing Windows Vista drivers.

Opps i should of mentioned it was my older 146 = single core..... :)

Yeah on my older dual core 165 and 170 chips vista 64-bit ran OK, but still a lot slower then my new build Intel E8600 at 4.2ghz (OC'ed of course) and all those opterons were in the 2.8-2.9ghz range (OC'ed of course) and could never come close to what this intel core-due 2 can do.

I can play at 1920 x 1200 (usually all amxed settings) on all games that i play NP's, no hiccups, no chugging, nothing like the older builds and older video cards were very limiting and with 2GB of ram on my older builds.

I have 1 x HD4850 (for now soon get another), 4GB DDR2 PC21000 memory, 2 x 640GB in Raid 0 ... and i thought my older PC's flied..... but this build destroys em all.

I think you mean DDR2-1000MHz or you could say PC2-8000...but not PC2-1000.

Yeah my little typo error should have been = PC2-8000 = 1000mhz speed.
