Has anyone make a 3D cake? My son wants a skull cake for his birthday and 3D would look more realistic. I don't know what type of cake pan would work the best and can't seem to find any skull pans. Any ideas?

you could make 4 or 5 square ones then carve the skull out...that's what I would do...
Take pictures when you're done!!

Look online for some ideas. Cake isn't easily carved....at least not when your taking square cakes and trying to make them round. You might be able to find some cake pans at that store in the mall

If you are going to carve the cakes freeze them first it makes them easier to cut/handle

I have looked online alot and could only find one cake that was neat, but my son didn't like it. No one had a skull cake pan, but I did find a large cupcake shaped cake pan that I'm going to use. Just going to take a little off the bottom of the cupcake for a narrower jawline.

Now to figure out how to use fondant icing.

if you haven't checked at Bulk Barn...they have a huge selection of cake pans. i think you can rent them if i'm not mistaken instead of buying too.
