Thanks for the link Werner. After reading the article I can more clearly understand what was going on in my parents heads. My Dad was always into new age thought and ideas and used reincarnation to explain everything almost everything.

I told him once when I was a young teenager that I had a recurring dream of answering a knock at the front door and upon opening the door, getting a gun shot to the face. He explained that is probably what happened to me in my previous life which is also probably why I was born with a cleft palate and a hairlip.

My mother always refered to reincarnation every time I showed an interest in anything. When I was 12 I had an interest in native aboriginal people nad collected things that related to them. My mother explained that I must have been an Indian in one of my previous lives.

Looking back and hearing different stories from my siblings now that parents are gone, both my parents blamed my mother's drinking, smoking and drug abuse on my being born with the cleft palate and hairlip and both used reincarnation as an excuse to try to appease their guilt for allowing that to happen while my mother was carrying me. Apparently they told my brother and sister this but not me.

Sounds a lot like the Hindu belief in Karma as well. We are products of our previous lives and can always use that as an excuse for our current situation or behaviours.

Oh, BTW, I was never Napoleon!

Nobody could have been Napoleon, because I was Napoleon!

Saw a show (20/20 I think) that did an episode on a little kid who was around 8 at the time who claimed he had been an US fighter pilot. This sounded like the usual stuff a kid might dream up. But his dad started asking questions and sure enough with a good deal of digging it turned out everything the kid said could be verified right down to figuring out the pilots name.I thought it was a good show but it could have been staged till they did a search and found that the pilot had a sister still living. When the brought her to meet him he told her things that she said only her brother could know that no one else could.

I have always felt that I lived in the deep south before. mississippi for someplace like that. Not sure why?
I also dream about being in war sometimes. Hiding in a foxhole and being terrified.

Dreams can often mean you had too much hot sauce the evening before..

I've discovered too that when I have nightmares, it's because I've rolled and twisted my sleepware in such a way as to cut off my cirrculation. I'll wake up from a bad dream and sure enough find that one of my arms or legs has gone numb and I can find the red stripe where the pinching occurred.

Also when I was in college studying art I would have dreams about being Vincent Van Gogh or Leonardo Da Vinci. Might have had something to do with overstudying for my art history exams me thinks.

i totally believe in some kind of reincarnation. a lot of our bodies are made up of energy and that has to go somewhere, even if it is into a bug or plant...

I do and don't believe in reincarnation,if that makes any sense(which I'm sure it doesn't).Since I think that our loved ones who predeceased us meet us as we "cross over",where would reincarnation fit in with that belief? And yet,I also feel like I did have at least one past life:when we moved to Saskatoon,I had never been further than Montreal River;when we came over the rise and there was Saskatoon spread out in front of us,I just felt this overwhelming rush of "I'm home" and familiarity.

So I have a foot in both camps of belief and non-belief.
