"The Red Wings have a fan in Tampa Bay Lightning coach Barry Melrose.

Although the Wings aren't entirely pleased with their start this season, Melrose believes the Wings are good enough to repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

"When you win the Stanley Cup and you add (Marian) Hossa, that's a pretty good addition," said Melrose, the former ESPN analyst who returned to coaching this season. "Yes, they're good enough to repeat. You have all their guys in the prime of their careers. Ken Holland and Jim Nill do a great job of finding young talent.

"It's the organization everyone wants to be like. They're the best right now. Every organization in hockey wants to be like Detroit.""

Good ole' Canadian boys....gotta love 'em!
You realize, it's a Canadian opinion?

Young talent on Wings:

Not a Canadian in the bunch, thank God.

That's why Detroit has 4 Cups in eleven years: they limit the number of Canadians they will take. They realize, as all people do, Canada's time at the top of the hockey hill is loooooong gone.

Canadians still dominate the roaster
Of all the countries represented on the Wings, what country has the most players?
Don't even start with the front office....you lose!

Funny how you spout off about Canadians...yet there are more Canadians then Americans on your Wings....and at their practice facility in Traverse City there is a huge Picture of Drake with the Cup...he's from where...hmmmm...oh yeah CANADA. I guess none of the Americans on that team did anything to warrant their picture taken.....

Hockey is not popular in the U.S. I would expect a much larger Canadian content in the N.H.L.

However, the content is shrinking. And, any observer not blinded by misplaced xenophobia can see Canada is no longer the top hockey nation.

The Red Wings won the Cup with a team comprised of the smallest percentage of Canadians in the N.H.L.

That isn't a coincidence.
