View Full Version : LOITERING IN THE STATION MALL

Are there any rules or laws about loitering in the mall. I'm just curious. Just wondering about certain people that have been in the mall since, oh....1975. I realize some of these people are harmless but they are there, camped out, nevertheless.

I wish there were for those damn cackly teenagers. They stand there in groups blocking the way. Irritating.

There are signs that say No Loitering.

Teenagers also buy stuff. The loitering guy(s) don't.

I work in the Mall, yeah, I understand what you mean. There are a few guys that walk around like they think they own the place, I have nic-named them....Mall Mafia. They think they are "all that", it`s really kinda funny. As far as I know, they`ve never caused any problems, they are just always there.
Floyd

HEY ULTRA54
The mall guy has "long beautiful hair".....
Been there since they opened the place. Walks like he's on a mission and I don't really care except when it's busy and I can't get a place to sit because of someone like that.....that's on a coffee drinking mission!

Security is lazy? Who said that? Exactly what are these guys supposed to be doing? If they look like they're doing nothing, then there's nothing to do.
Their only job is security..........not mopping floors....

I notice the creepy middle aged men there, i mean like 40ish ones. There's this one guy I always see,he's always always in the mall, hangs out with his buddy in the food court and stares at all the girls walking by. Being a woman, I"m aware of such pervs. it's so obvious. Then there's always the group of old men sitting by the New York Fries that stare as well, makes me mad! And the sh*tty teenagers that think they're punk or whatever are pretty annoying too. And what's with the prostitots? If i ever caught my daughter wearing what these girls wear,I'd kick her a$$ all the way home.

The Station mall loiterers can't be any worse than the ones at the Market Mall.
Plus, has anyone tried to shop at No Frills on a Saturday morning?

04-25-2007, 07:54 AM
I know lots of kids who hang out at the mall and do not cause any trouble. We use to hang out there when we were young. You meet up with your friends and check out boys.
Some older people hang out there and drink coffee all day and socialize.
It's a great meeting place for kids and adults. Nothing wrong with it. As long as they are not participating in any criminal activity, go ahead.
It has no impact on my shopping experience. I am too focused on spending money to be bothered lol

04-25-2007, 07:56 AM
Its not the fact of young teenagers loitering that bothers me its the loud screams when they see a friend they haven't seen in 2 hours or they block traffic in the mall.
adigirl
04-25-2007, 08:02 AM
Yeah, teenage girls can be annoying lol They do that anywhere though. In the mall, at school, at the park, on a road, in a bathroom, on the phone or cell, etc...
Shoppers also block traffic the same way. Now THAT drives my nuts!!!

I had the misfortune of taking my family bowling a few weeks back on a Saturday night and lucky us we got to bowl beside 6, 15 year old girls. I enjoyed the squeeling, screeming, rolling on the floor, shooting the balls 3 at a time, the swearing and especially the yelling of "I love you" to someone across the alley.. Actually the whole package was a treat to see. I left midway through my last game.

Ok i have no problem with these mall people until one comes and sits withme when i am trying to eat lunch OR when the lil nicky one walks up to my baby stroller and rips my canopy back and starts touching my baby. Ok then i have problems because i hate germs near my newborns lol. My kids are 6 and 8 now but i am expecting another one in August and know it will happen again

don't get me started on mall rats.

I'm saying this in the most polite way possible.
There are alot of mentally challenged people in the malls.
The lil nicky woman, dennis, judy, the tall red headed girl... it goes on.
These people cannot help that they are mentally challenged and have nothing better to do, i feel bad for them. The only one that really bugs me when I am there or when I worked in the mall is the little guy that swears out loud at himself or other people, possibly due to tourettes. But he swears alot, doesn't stop. Scares people and swears around small children. I don't think he should be allowed there unless he is supervised.
Ultra54
04-26-2007, 07:19 PM
That guy doesn't have tourettes. He is just a severe scytso. I see him walking around Churchill Plaza. I called the cops about him, he gets out of hand when he drinks, which is much of the time.

I work in the mall, so that's why I see the same people over and over. The ones I always notice are those middle aged guys who walk around like their bums are on fire, like they are attending to something super urgent, and then you see them pass by again and again, some even just do laps in the store I work in. That one with the dark hair who does it is always talking super loud to whoever he happens to be with at the time flailing his hands around and speed walking at the same time, it's funny since he isn't really going anywhere! So why walk so fast? lol

maybe just to waste time? but normally i go there when necessary i always see friends there most the time
Well think when you were younger and going to the mall.
How many times you stood around or walked the mall from one end to the other.
How you stood outside of the movie theater to have a smoke of chat with 10-15 people.
Those days are our days, but it is also the younger crowds days of today and you want to take away what we had years ago from these teenagers of today.
That is what you call two faced individuals and i highly recommend you stay away from such people that want to take away the youths right to freedom.

So the wife and I are down at the mall the other day and decide to go for lunch. It was pretty busy in the food court, as it was 12:30 in the afternoon. We watched seperate tables of St. Mary's students leave their tables FILTHY. They made a huge mess and then just left it there. We commented on it to one of the cleaners, and were told that it happened every day. How is that consodered acceptable? Do their mothers clean up after them at home? If so, then they should bring their mothers to the mall with them.
What is the big deal with cleaning up after yourself?

On the flip side of that is if everybody cleaned up their tables they wouldn't need as many cleaners.

Regarding the St. Mary's students, and their litter habits, you should see the outside of their school! One of our kids was playing indoor soccer there this winter, just finishing last weekend. You could fill a garbage truck with the crap they leave on the ground. Banana peels, half empty containers of pudding, pop cans, you name, it's been there this winter. And then the snow melts... they're slobs. When it was Lakeway, someone would have had our heads for that, and in the mall food court, as well. The only thing we left behind in the food court was dirty ashtrays, and maybe a few drops of pop and a fry on the floor.

I'm beginning to think that a certain member (or should I call him members) has some mental health issues. When you start carrying on in a thread and your using your different personas with out anyone else adding there has be at least a couple of screws loose.

as far as teens hanging out in the mall....
where do you want them to hang out. I won't allow my kids to hang out at a bar, that hold's teen dances, at a licenced pool hall, or any pool hall at all.... they are not allowed to go to house parties or friend's houses unless I get the parents phone number for where they want to go, and am assured there will be supervision. They aren't allowed to hang out in school yards or parks after dark. Or be out on the street after dark.
They do go to the malls, only when they have money or a purpose for being there. They are allowed to go to school dances or the movies, of which I pick them up from, because I don't want them on city buses after dark.
Just this week my daughter told me her friends were going to a drinking party and she did not feel comfortable with going. SO she asked if she could go hang out at the mall.
What kind of a fool parent would I be, if I didn't reward her for making a good choice, and allow her to go.
Sure teens can be loud, over zeallous, squeeling and exciting when they see a friend in the mall or whereever.... but at least none of my six kids were ever picked up by the police, charged with any offence, into fighting or drinking or drugs.
Four of my kids are now adults and only two left are 19, and 14.
All in all, I'd rather seen them in the mall, then not see them and worry about what kind of trouble they are really getting into.

I was a teenager at one time or another.
I miss that life.

Very true, what is wrong with them hanging out there? If any cause trouble then the trouble makers should get the boot not everyone.
