"Richard Peddie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., announced Saturday that Brian Burke has been named the new President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed."

The Leafs now have an American coach and American G.M. The two most powerful men in the organization are Americans. They now understand what most others have known for a while now: if you want to win in the N.H.L., do not look to Canada.

The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup last year with the smallest percentage of Canadians in N.H.L. history. Sweden and Russia win the World Juniors, the U.S. has more gold medals in Olympic play than Canada since 1960, and Russia has many more medals overall.

Be it front office or on the ice, the game has left Canada.

Canada's decline hit 'Leafs Nation (re: most of Canada) today.

Wait for the trades.
We'll see.........like candy from a baby, watch!
You can call me the bus driver, cause I'll be taking you to school.
There will be more Canadian Content if Burke gets his way.
You will eat your words!

Canada has barely a presents.
If it wasn't for our dominance, you wouldn't have an NHL.
How many Canadians were on Anaheim when they won the CUP?
You lose.....again.

You are like the old dog on the porch that chases and barks at buses.
Someday you'll caught that bus, someday..........?

For the record he is American. He was born in Windsor while his dad was involved with the Wings organization.

Ron Wilson was coach of Team USA in the Olympics, he therefore is not Canadian.

That total was at one time 85% Canadian.

Canada's decline in hockey supremacy is obvious to all but Canadians.

Seriously, I laugh aboot it. I love bringing it up at the bar. I've yet to meet a Canadian that can explain away Canada's drastic decline in NHL players.

It's over.

Ronald Lawrence Wilson (born May 28, 1955) is a former ice hockey player and current head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is also former head coach of the San Jose Sharks, Washington Capitals, and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim of the National Hockey League (NHL). Wilson holds dual citizenship of the United States and Canada.

Therefore, nothing!
You lose!

He coached the U.S. Olympic team.

He has no desire to coach Canada's team (who would?)

We win :)

You'll be alright.
Did you bump your little head?
Of coarse the ratios changed when the imports started and expansion, that's a good thing.
It has to be the beat players in the world, to be the best league in the world.
Canada just happens to have the largest number.
Say what you want, the numbers don't lie!
Canada wins! Canada wins! Canada wins!

In case you missed it.

He's coaching the Leafs, because the Board of Governors of the team, all Canadians, know hiring a Canadian is a losing proposition.

Why did he coach Team USA?

Because like 99.9% of all mankind, he'd rather be known as an American than a Canadian. :)
