View Full Version : ‘Presumed’ Afghan Insurgent
" Canada’s military started an investigation into allegations of “inappropriate conduct” related to the death of a “presumed insurgent” in the Afghan province of Helmand, the defense ministry said today.
The death occurred on Oct. 19 and the Commander Task Force in Kandahar became aware of the allegations on Dec. 27, according to an e-mailed statement, which didn’t provide any details of the incident. The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service will carry out the probe.
Canada has about 2,700 soldiers in Afghanistan and plans to keep forces there at least through 2011. The nation is part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization mission in Afghanistan."

Commander Task Force found out nine weeks after the fact, nice to see they are staying on top of things.
"Canada’s military charged one of its soldiers with second-degree murder after the death of a “presumed insurgent” in the Afghan province of Helmand, the defense ministry said.
The government said Dec. 31 it started an investigation into the Oct. 19 death for “inappropriate conduct.” The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service charged Captain Robert Semrau, alleging he shot an unarmed male with the intent to kill, according to an e-mailed statement today. Semrau will be brought back to Canada to face a military judge."

Oh, yeah him. Shot people with their hands up.
Oh, yeah him. Shot people with their hands up.
If he were in the Canadian military, he'd get a medal!! :)
Do you think that sixteen-year-old Somalia boy had his hands up when those Canadian soldiers called for him to bring his soccer ball over to play a little game of soccer? I mean, sure, they slowly tortured him to death, but I wonder where his hands were.
In true Canadian fashion, there has GOT TO BE a way to excuse that atrocity.

"An American soldier yesterday pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the killing of three members of her family in a village near Baghdad in March in one of the most brutal examples of attacks on civilians in Iraq.
The soldier, Specialist James Barker, also agreed to testify against three other accused soldiers. He agreed to the plea in return for a guarantee that he would not face the death penalty, his lawyers said.
The murders took place on March 12 in Mahmoudiya, 20 miles south of Baghdad. Prosecutors allege that five soldiers stationed at a checkpoint there raped the girl, Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, then burned her body to hide the evidence, and killed her father, mother and six-year-old sister."

Now there's some classy soldiers.Yeeehaww.
What's mind boggling is that someone would propose a plea like that. I would have him face the firing squad.

Guys, why don't you all cool your booties and wait for the full story to come out? I'm talking about the Canadian soldier charged with murder.
And when will you learn? EVERY army commits atrocities!
what good is it to haul out the worst stories you can find amongst allies for crying out loud?
We are allies with the USA. Why are we verbally sparring with one another?

Until we lure over a sixteen-year-old peasant boy, all under the guise we want to kick the soccer ball around a bit with him, then slowly torture him, then place a bullet in his skull... YOU WIN ;)
