Pretty sure that's what it's called. Anyway...anyone want one?

My son has one, took us awhile to figure out why his other fish kept dissappearing. When we went back to the petshop where he got it they (someone different) informed us they weren't really for a tropical tank but more for a cichlid tank. Since then we've been throwing in feeder fish for it and pellets to kept it satisfied.

I'll take a pic when I get a chance and post it so you have a better idea what I'm talking about if you aren't sure (or maybe I'm wrong in what it really is). It's about 2 inches long maybe a tad more.

I wonder if it's the same thing I have. I have a shovel nose catfish and the same thing started to happen, fish disappearing. I ended up moving him to my big tank and he's the smallest in there.
I can take him off your hands if you like. Give the other one company.

He's all yours if you want him Tippy. My son has/had tropicals and things just aren't working out with him in there.

I went down and looked, he's more like 3-4 inches long.

Sounds like he'll be picked up tomorrow, thanks!

Here's a pic of him so you can tell me if he's what I thought he was.

Yep that is the same one as I have now. So now he'll have a friend. :)

just out of curiosity, approx what size were the fish that he was eating? I was intereseted in getting one but I do have a couple Angel Rams I'm worried would disappear

Yes they would disappear! Mine ate a couple of fish that were about 2 inches. He ate them one at a time but by the time I realized what was happening he had ate about 3 of them. His belly looked like it was going to explode...little b@stard!

lol, yeah, definetly not going in with the Angel Rams. The Red Parrots and Iridescent sharks should do okay with him tho

Is this a bristle nosed catfish, or bristle nosed pleco?

Catfish Hans.

And Cruel Intentions I would be careful with your Parrots. My Parrots ate a lot of my fish. They are actually my most aggressive fish I have and I have 3 tanks, 2 chiclid tanks.

They are actually a Lima Shovel-Nosed Catfish not a bristle.

The fries?

Haha :snono:

He does have a friend. They are identical can't even tell them apart.

My Parrots are actually pretty relaxed, the bigger one about 4" to 5" sometimes chases around the smaller one, but I've had them for awile and there's no signs of damage to fins or flesh. I've had them in a tank with Dwarf Gourmari's, Angel Rams, Iridescent sharks, Bala sharks, as well as some others.

It took about a year before my Parrots figured out they can eat other fish. :slol: Little b@stards. Now I put nothing small in that tank.

01-15-2009, 10:28 AM
lol, hopefully mine don't do the same. I think that the Angel Rams are too big for the parrots to get in their mouths. How big are yours?

01-15-2009, 10:51 AM
My parrots or the other fish they ate?

01-15-2009, 10:53 AM
I was asking about the parrots, but would be interested in both

01-15-2009, 11:44 AM
My parrots are about the size of a softball, ones a little bigger. The fish they ate were about inch, inch and a half.
