Just found out you can use Google to tell you how much in CAD an American price for gas is.

For example, say gas is $1.80/gallon, Google will tell you how much CAD that would be per litre.

put this in a google search.

1.80 USD per gallon in CAD per litre

Or modify it to whatever the current USD/gallon price is.

In that simple line, Google does a currency conversion and gallon - litre conversion fo you.

however you have to take in consideration of the current exchange rate. so whatever your total is, make you you multiply it by the current exchange rate. which you can find on xe.com

Google is doing the currency conversion in the query, using current exchange rates.
