piracy/piracy talk for the board?

also things like sharing links to files, tuts and so on.

even not so much piracy, but methods for running legal backups?

Well, like in any forum..... the discussion of piracy is a big no-no. That part is obvious.

As for discussions about playing "backups", the rules aren't really set out here yet. They are being discussed and Canadian13's thread is under review.

for the most part that thread was talking about using software emulators and a free browser for the wii. i agree that piracy is a no no, but does exploitation of a flaw in a system count as a foot in the no no pond? not tryin to start anything just getting to know my boundries

in reference to what netdawg said: "So discussions about legal (for now) console modding are permitted. Also homebrew I would say is permitted, as I use it myself"

Homebrew is generally open source.

What about the distribution of things like IOS files, loaders and the such? it seems to be a gray area.

If it's software that's free in the first place then I would say it's cool. It wouldn't be any different then posting a link to download AVG Free.

IOS is proprietary Nintendo code, and is the same as distributing copies of Windows XP. So that is definately not a grey area. But loaders, etc are not Nintendo code.
