Im a big slacks fan myself. simple to use and can be quite friendly.

I've only used Ubuntu. Soon as I get my TV tuner card, I am going to use MythUbuntu on a spearate partition to see how that works. BUt I am way too inexperienced to tell which is the best distro.

best distro in terms of what? there are literally hundreds of distros each geared towards different goals

for new "windows" converts, i would reccomend something Ubuntu based, easy learning curve and most hardware is detected. I personally use LinuxMint, its basically a more polished version of Ubuntu, but with a few "extras".

I like the persistent USB ones, as they are very handy to take with you.

ive learned running linux off an sdcard is terribly slow lol. but i do have a 4gb backtrax thumbstick for bond missions lol
