Looks like things in here are slow. I am hoping that with winter on its way out (can a guy dream lol), I will be doing more photography. Here is something new from me…nothing all that exciting, but at least it contains images lol!

Well I decided to make a leather gift for a friend. It was a long time since I did any work with leather, having not picked up the tools in about a year’s time. Way too busy to indulge lately mixed in with some family tragedy that took the wind out of my sails for a while.

Anyways....

This is a simple little 1" wide belt that took roughly 5 hours to make. I decided to try something different. It centers around the 3 piece buckle set. I decided to make a string of simple 4 leaf flowers with a center stud for each flower in the same amber colour as the buckle. Because it was a simple belt designed to draw the eyes to the buckle, I only dyed the belt a deep brown. I was going for a subtle two tone effect with the small holes around the center drawing picking up extra dye.

1. Here is the 3 piece buckle set that dictated the direction for this modest woman’s belt.

2. A photo showing the amber rivets and design. There are 13 amber rivets around the belt. I used two sizes which are 1 mm different in circumference. You can't see it much in the photos, but it is subtly noticeable in person.

3. One last photo.

Thank you.

The idea was to match one of my older pieces that I had made for the same person a few years ago. I wanted something a little different but similar. I decided against colouring the flowers, but there is some commonality between the two pieces. The width of the belt didn't give me much room to work with.

Wow, that is amazing work. You could make a beautiful dog collar. Have you ever made one of them?

There is not much difference between a dog collar and a belt other then length.

Excellent. I am happy to hear that you’re enjoying your belt FBI. There is always a hesitation on my part when I make a new piece, on whether the person I make it for will like it.
