View Full Version : Good or Bad, define it please.
How can people get away with preaching, saying god exists and be acceptable?
A person preaching saying god doesn't exist, and they try everything they can do to shut them up?

Good question.

well, in my workplace I actually see the oposite(sp).
generaly in my day to day runnings, I don't run into this often, just when I happen to ask a question that cannot be answered or proves themselves wrong... I have run into that on ocasion here.
I just find it wierd.
I see people on tv, preaching, talking about churches, just generally good stuff. Which is fantastic in my mind. I love the fact that the churches teach GOODNESS and KINDNESS.
I don't believe in God %100, but I do believe in goodness and treating everyone with love and respect.
I really dislike teaching hatred, like Devil churches. If you worship Satan, go ahead, but don't teach hate.
Anyway, my point.
There are "groups" that are anti god, and anti religion, why can't they be heard, although they still teach goodness?
They are ripped from the media.
And in %100 i mean, I believe in a creator, a higher power. But I think the bible is a fictional book.
I apologize and don't mean to bash or demean anyone, but burning bushes, water walking, great floods, 2 people creating everyone on earth. Anyway.

because religion is a big seller, the media doesn't care about people who do not judge and only belive in being good people... what kind of story is that?
just like you rarely see media displaying TRUE Christians, mostly you see the radical Christians with specific causes they use their religion to fight.

Plain and simple.. as dancingqueen said.. God = Cash.
If you go around preaching about there being no God.. people are more than likely to put their check books away.
Yeah, the Church makes a lot off those people in Third World countries.
You are correct.
Just type in "Christian donations Africa" in Yahoo search engine. You will be amazed how many organizations collect donations.
Just another way of making people feel good, give them the feeling they did the right thing.
Yeah, the influx of money into those families in shacks and huts who have an annual income of forty dollars per year is enormous. Leave it to the Church to take all they have.

Will you please re-phrase. I don't get what you are saying or asking.
A person can go on TV/Newspaper or what ever, and say "GOD IS REAL" and no one does anything.
A another person can do the same thing, go on tv and say "GOD DOES NOT EXIST", and they get bashed for it.

IMO
because when people who don't beleive in god hear preachy stuff...they just kind'of go..hmmmm, this again. then change the chanel...to them it is just an idea that seems like a bad one..
when people who beleive in god hear someone saying God is NOT real, they either feel the need to defend their beleifs, to save the person who doesn't beleive, or perhaps more likely it brings them to question their own beleifs and surfaces any doubts that they may have..and in order to tuck those back away they have to do something about what is causing those thoughts to surface in the first place

Are you watching TV from the mid-1950's? Because your not watching the same TV I am.
I didn't say I watched it on tv.
I said a person CAN GO ON TV.
Only reason why I said TV, because it has the most impact on the media.
ANYWAY, my point is.
EVERYONE preaches, either for religion or against it. Why are the ones who are against it are being called bad?

Do you have an example, because I don't find that to be the case.

I can only speak for my Church when I say this.. Our church goes on mission trips to 3rd world Countries. WE raise money through fundraisers and simple donations by our Church body and the parents and kids that go on these mission trips fork out the rest from thier OWN pockets.
There are certain items they bring to the less fortunate such as..... toothbrushes.. toothpaste.... crayons.... pencils... a little candy...combs... stuff like that..
I know it isn't much but it's something. Something these children don't have and are INCREDIBALY happy to get these things.
OUR Church does not gain from these trips in any financial way at all.
To generalize "Churches" ... well it's wrong.
YES. I will agree that there are many Churches or so called Churches out there that hide behind the bible and use the Word of God for thier own personel gain... You won't get an arguement from me on that issue!!
What do we gain??
Well.. we gain friends... we learn to be greatful for what we have... We try not to take things for granted.. We learn to appreciate the life we do have. It's an entire different life for these people. A life they didin't ask for nor do they deserve. We try to do our part to the best we can.
Still..... It's not enough
One becomes very. very humble when you see what conditions they have to endure.
Do I believe in God? YES I do.. 100%
Am I perfect?.. NO I am not... I try to do the best that I can by my faith.
Do I believe that someone who doesn't believe in God have the right to preach it??.. well......... I could fence sit on that one.
However... I do believe in Free Speach..... so whatever tckles one fancy I guess. I would also agree as long as they don't teach hate, or any type of discrimination.. then go ahead. I'll do what I do now when I hear a TV program bashing the Christian Faith.... just as others do that don't belive... Turn the channel.
