Today I called my bank too get printouts of my account activity for the last year and they said that it would be $5 a page. I couldn't believe this. Since I do my banking online I never bother updating my bank book anymore. Online it will only give you the info for three months previous. Does any one elses bank do this?

We just get a statement every month for our checking and visa. But if one bank does it.....you can be sure they all do it. The charge $1.50 for seeing a cheque online. Banks make millions of dollars. Too bad you didn't take a PC picture of your account and keep it in your documents or printed it out,I do that everytime I pay a bill.

I don't know what my bank would charge for that service, but I know that that TD has been awesome in many other areas. One example would be having our banker call twice in one year to offer us a lower interest rate on our mortgage mid contract. He also encouraged us to transfer our line of credit debt out to our credit card when we get those ".9% financing on transfered balances" and pay it down at .9%, basically playing the bank against the credit card company.

From now on I'll print each month out. This is just rediculous.

do u need this info right away? because i think they only charge you if you need them right then, i know when i had to do this at my old bank, they said if i waited and had them mailed then it was free.

We use TD and we get monthly statements but not too long ago I needed printouts from 2005-2008 and it only cost $9 or something like that. They mailed them and I had them less than a week from the day I called. You can also go back and view the previous 18 months online.

I hate Royal. I dealt with them years ago and they were the worst bank ever to deal with back then. Not sure about now though

TD online banking is the best, I've been online with TD since 1999 and never had any problems. You can look up your account history for the last 18 months and it's free to view your cheques. Also, if you keep $3000 in your account you get unlimited interac and bill payment transactions, a $12.95 value. That's like getting over 5% interest, it's a better return than a high interest savings account. While I hate all banks, I'd have to say I hate TD the least.
