I have a link to get this free for a year, but it makes me nervous to download it. Anyone have this? Is it worth downloading?
thanks

its prob a scam link. But you can go to the microsoft site and obtain a beta key from them. They dont offer the download anymore, but if you know how to use bittorrent you can get the media. Also its not free for a year, its slated to be released this fall and the beta is supposed to end in august.

It's not a scam. Site is overloaded, so be prepared to give it some time to load up.

You don't need to rush to get the RC. The RC will be available at least through July 2009 and we're not limiting the number of product keys, so you have plenty of time.

Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.)

I am going to get both 32 and 64 bit to give them a whirl. Nothing wrong with a free OS for the next 12 months...

Grabbing the 64 bit as we speak. 10 Mbit/sec, not to shabby. Their download manager is not so good though, lol.
