Question about perennials

Is it too late to divide them? It has been so cold that I have not worked in the flower beds yet and my main one has become overgrown. I was planning on starting another one this year, but I don't know whether to divide them or just thin it out as some are starting to bud?:confused2:

I would go ahead and divide them, they will be fine.

I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend ... all weekend , lol. I still have to buy a few shrubs and annuals to add some colour
