I was wondering if anyone has tried the Furminator. Is it as good as the hype?

nope not hype. Its amazing the amount of hair it removes.

I have an undercoat rake, and the furminator takes out at least 3 times as much.

I didn't believe it till I tried it, but WOW its really something.

PS I bought mine on Ebay - half the price

I use it... and love it! It's definitely cut my vacuuming time down. lol It works great for getting their undercoat out. I use it on my Shepherd, my Keeshond mix & now my cat.

If you know Shepherds, you know that they shed only once a year... for 365 days! haha /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif This wonderful little brush really cuts down on the shedding.

My Keeshond mix puppy has a longer coat & doesn't seem to be much of a shedder, but I still get some outta him too.

I used it on the cat for the first time on Sunday & WOW I didn't think she had that much hair. lol She's a short haired calico, but I still managed to take 1/2 a grocery bag of hair outta her.

I'd say it's worth the money for the time it saves in cleaning alone. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Bought mine off ebay at half the price and LOVE it. Well worth the money for my dog and 3 cats. My fish don't care too much for it but hey can't please them all. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

Love mine, works great, also got mine on ebay for much cheaper.
It really cuts down on the shedding.

Though the price is right up there in the stratosphere, the furminator is worth all of it. My cat has a horrible coat, dry, shedding, and mats up overnight. All kinds of diet trials aren't fixing her coat problems but the furminator keeps the hair in reasonable shape. Buy it. It's worth it.

If you don't mind telling us, how much did you pay for your furminator?

Evangeline

would anyone consider 'renting' theirs to me so i can try it out. if i like it i will buy one myself. i dont doubt that it would work, i just dont know if i could get my dogs to cooperate. they seem to think that being brushed is cruelty to animals and wine and moan. if you dont want the money i could donate it to a charity, but i would really like to try it out first. please pm me and let me know. thanks.

Stop by and grab mine! I trust you would give it back /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I have the small one thou, so it might take you a while to do a large dog, but if you have a cat you could try it to get the right idea.

I borrowed a friend of mine's to do our lab/retriever mix and it worked wonders...definitely going to pick up one as she sheds way too much for my liking...the Furminator is amazing! Any brush out there doesn't do half of what the Furminator does.

Has anyone tried to find them across the river? (Maybe cheaper over there?)

I found that the cheapest place to purchase the furminator in the Soo was the pet store in the Zellers Plaza on Northern Avenue....Animalia! Y.I.P.S was more costly then any other pet store in town.

I think my German Shepherd is in dire need of one of these. I always have hair tumbleweeds rolling across my floors.

I use it on my short haired dogs...needless to say because they don't have undercoats like a sheppard or husky...you don't see the same amount of hair...but if your short haired dog sheds alot then the Furminator still works well. It works beautifully when my Danes blow their coats...and my washer and dryer definitely say thank you.

well, im borrowing evangelines and so far im amazed at the hair it is taking out. i know everyone said it would, and i believed them, but its cool to see it.

my honey dog is sort of ok letting me do her, but winston is moaning and groaning and trying to flee every second. that is the problem i wondered about, if my dogs would let me do them. it may work great, but if i can only get a minute at a time, is it really worth forty bucks? that is what im trying to figure out.

thanks evangeline, ill keep at it for a few more days and see how it goes...

The blade/teeth on that one do resemble that of the Furminator. The difference is that the furminator is a T-Shape. The blade is at a 90 degree angle to the handle. Making a good brushing easier (in my opinion).
