So due to gentic loading of glaucoma i have been having my eye pressures tested yearly since i was 17. when they first tested me they were around 17/18 and normal is between 10/21. Well now they are up at 26 and 28. My eye doc told me today that I shouldn't worry because my field vision test is still good and other then headaches (which i have suffered with since i was 2) that i had no other symptoms of glaucoma and they will just keep an eye on my optic nerve for damage.... and that some people just have high eye pressure... does this sound right or should I be going to see a specialist? I think i am going to get a second opinion but i just want to make sure i am not over reacting...

i would probably seek out a specialist. my aunt has glaucoma and they kept on 'waiting' to see and she didn't get into see a specialist until it was too late to do anything about it.

I have two of my moms brothers who are almost blind because of it my grandmother went blind form it and My mother was diagnosed with glaucoma at 29. She has had surgerys to try to drain the eye and relieve the pressure but nothing has been successfull. I am going to wait to see if after i have the baby the pressure goes down, but it never fluctuated during any of my other pregnacies. I don't konw i just don't want them to end up finding damage to the nerve too late. Any one have any recomendations? I saw Dr. Sharp about 6 years ago.. anyone else?

This is going to sound very strange due to the other thread, but if it were me, I would get a referral to an ophthalmologist asap. Dr. Mitchell at the Group Health Centre is an excellent doctor and would know what to do about your pregnancy related possible problems related to your eye pressure.
