Ok, so I have this huge migrane going on 4 days now. I went to the hospital last night and they can't give me the migrane protocol due to my pregnancy and i have a reaction to maxeran (sp) ... so they gave me gravol and demerol to try to help it and it didn't even make me sleep i was in so much pain. Kept me in over night because they also noticed protien in my pee and headache was making me really sick.. I am feeling like i am at the end and am willing to try anything right now to make it go away. I am willing to go to naturopath or acupuncture I just don't dont know where to turn right now. If anyone has any experience with any of these please let me know...

I went to an acupuncturist for migraines (but not when I was pregnant). It helped for a few weeks but that was all. My mom tried it as well and she had great results; she is migraine free and has been for about 15 years.

I understand how terrible it can be, having migraines and being pregnant. When I was pregnant with my fourth baby I had migraines and there was nothing they could do. Demerol did nothing but make me sleep and then I woke up with a hangover effect.

who did you go and see. was it anyone in this city? I was an acupuncturist about 6 years ago after my knee surgery but that was with sault physio. I am willing to do just about anything right now. My doc came to see me in the hospital this morning and just kind of looked at me not knowing what to do or give me to help. I am starting to think where do you draw the line between me being sane and getting rid of the headaches with drugs that might cause complications with the baby or do i just suffer through it? I also have 2 children at home that need me to take care of them and I can't be a mom if i am in bed 24/7 and can't fucntion because i am nausiated and stuff...

when u go to bed tonight put a hotpack on your shoulder/neck and pack your head in ice(a bag of frozen peas works great). Not much else to do when your prego, its probably the hormones changing again, good luck.

I suffer migraine and see an out of town specialist, another good trick(if its o.k. with your doctor of course), take benedryl, same affect as gravol and it helps reduce inflamation.

The person I saw doesn't practice in the Sault anymore (I think he went to Toronto). The last time I had chronic pain I went to Sault Physio as well but just had regular physiotherapy (didn't help me). I can ask my boss if she knows of any good acupuncturists in the Sault, she was seeing one a while back.

I can relate; I had small children, was pregnant and the headaches never ended. :( I wound up with severe vertigo as well and couldn't move my head because if I did, I had a huge pain and then a dizzy spell which could easily make me fall down. My headaches started when I was about three months pregnant with her and it was the longest of my five pregnancies because I just wanted to stop hurting.

If I find out the name of the acupuncturist my boss saw I will let you know... and I hope it gets better for you.

thats how I was, I have been getting them since age 3, my prego time was the only relief until the last month and I was told it was do to hormone changes, I hope I was of some help, I hate hearing that other people get them, they are so painful and life disabling sometimes.

hope you get rid of it, and get some rest.

well after searching around today I found a chiropractor who also does acupuncture, so I set myself up. 15 years and no headaches!!!! that is what i am going for! better then 25 years and headaches all the dam time. I also like the thought of no drugs.
