I heard it was a ritual blessing for chinese to eat cats... not sure if that is true or not. If anyone can confirm or deny this please let us know.

They are harvesting a over populated species in China and want to continue the harvest. I heard they have a cat harvest around Nov every year in which the cats are frozen alive before they sell them off to the public.

actually i watched a documentary where the cats were boiled alive to get the fur off. they were also crammed into cages, like 20 cats in a cage that should really only hold one cat. dogs too. this was for the food industry. if it was done humanely i wouldnt have a problem, but from everything i have seen and read on the subject it is not humane at all.

I think we would all be sick if we saw some of the inhumane way OUR meat animals are treated at times, right from the farm to the butchering process. Who eats lobster? Do you know how it's cooked?

I'm just very glad that we have inspections done here in North America. That at least gives me a sense that they keep an eye out for animals being treated with cruelty.

I agree with Kitcat, in that if they are handled humanely, then I don't have a problem either.
Who are we to point a finger at what they eat? I think it's Hindus? that don't eat cows, but we do. I believe Jewish people can only eat kosher meats?
Do you care what they think of us for eating what we eat? I don't. We eat what is avaliable to us, what we were brought up eating, what our customs/religions are, and what we are accustomed to eating.

I just don't believe in cruelty to ANY animal at ANY time.

The Problem is they like endangered species balls mostly, like tigers and there few remaining bears. Its not for food but they think it will help for futility. Like the Chinese (1.3 Billion of them) have to worry about futility. They should more like look into condoms so they have space to walk and food to eat for the next generation.

Well they have had a solid society for a couple thousand years. They also had those one child per couple law for quite a while.

And if you look at a lot of the labels on produce they can feed themselves as well as us, in a country almost the exact same size as the USA except it is a quarter desert. Something that it appears we can't do.

Not saying they got the environmental stuff down, but we buy the product and get what we deserve from not wanting to grow our own stuff.

Look at how ours is working though. It seems the only people (genralizing I realize this) who have 1 or 2 kids are the middle class and or educated people. It appears that these people are supporting a bigger percentage of the population at all times and realize that they can't support more of their own kids because of everything else their hard earned wages have to support.

I'm right with you on the girl thing though, that is kinda messed up. But, if we want to talk animals (which we all are in the end) and humane. Then we have to look at the fact that most male animals are culled (which I completely agree with) as well, because of the want for quicker reproduction of these animals. Not saying its the same, but some want to talk humane and animals, it goes farther than most peoples do gooder attitudes.

It's acctually unhealthy for any animal to eat another meat eating animal, that's why they don't do it unless they are starving. That's what I meant.

And I do think it is "ever sick" that we eat so many animals, way more than we should.

I have a friend who is asian. He said once his family was invited for "Chow chow". His family gratiously declined the offer.
