http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2007/07/astronomers-ask.html#more
"there are more than 140 billion galaxies in the visible universe! Our Milky Way is an average-sized spiral galaxy containing a few hundred billion stars."
"Galaxy Zoo needs about 30,000 people to log on to its website and help classify one million galaxies."
So anyways its like a 15 minute tutorial, then you get to look at galaxies and clasify them. I just did tutorial and don't have much time to play with it today, but it looks pretty ineresting, if you like that sort of thing.
Main link to site is

THAT is actually very cool when you think about it, and yes, it does sound VERY interesting, thanks for the link! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Sienna
No Problem.
I found some cool stuff today. Something that looked like the northern lights, but nothing like what I've seen in space pictures. 2 smaller galaxies meging into a 3rd huge one. Much more.
And you did find the bonus part of the whole deal "you'll view parts of the Universe that literally no-one has ever seen before"
Dammit I had / have so much to do today, but I can't stop.

It's actually very tempting to sign up, seems that http://www.galaxyzoo.org is down right now anyways.. so I'll guess I'll have to wait, I may just do that, it looks VERY fascinating! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

ahhh dammit it is, I did about 20 minutes of what I shoulda been doing today and tommorrow and came back like a junkie, and there it is gone.
Its cool, stuff I've never seen before, its not even officially up yet and they say they are way busier than expected. Saw 2 milky way type things side by side, one straight on, one side view.
Soon there will be statistics and the galaxies you picked all in one place so you can look at the cool ones.
Ahh well, might as well do what I'm supposed to be.

Naturally, like anyone needing a fix, I decided to try just one more time. It works now.

This might not have been such a good idea for me... I can do this, play poker, soonet, read something and work on something all together.
Well any 4 of them anyways.
