The slim is already out. Apparently the only noticeable difference is loading times for Blu-rays. The original model takes about 3 seconds and the Silm is about 8 seconds. That's hardly anything to worry about. It's just another PS3 (that I feel looks uglier...), so it's worth the price.

They also took out the option to install an OS on the new ones as well.

You made a thread about the PS3. You asked if it encounters the red ring of death like the 'first 360', while the 360 hasn't actually been remodeled, let alone the fact that it's not the topic of the thread.

I'm still asking the question, is the slim model of the PS3 just a knock off from the oringal, or is it just being pushed out the door for x-mas. Thats my original question. What do u all think about it. Also someone on this board made a claim about his slim had red ring of death.

The red ring of death is ONLY a "Microsoft XBox 360" thing.

There is no such thing as the red ring of death for ANY "Sony Playstation 3".

Note that they are two totally different systems.

The new PS3 is built with more power efficient and cooler running processors. It's like an upgraded computer platform that does pretty much exactly what the first one did, but it's cheaper. I wouldn't call it a knock off either. A knock off is something that's a copy/replica made by a different company.

NHL 2010 is pretty good, though I suck badly at the game. 360 version though, better controller all-around for sports and fast-paced shooters.

I play NHL for my 360 as well.. PS3 is just for exclusives.
