Jack Butler

But, none of them get any credits on the classics.
Who many original members are left?

italiandomino

i dont read their bio before I like their Cd .. not really sure why it matters ..

how many of the Toronto Maple Leafs are orginal team members ??? I am sure all the leafs fans dont mind cheering for a team of imposters.

Jack Butler

At least the Leafs don't sell themselves as what they were before.
The facts, are all too really with Toronto.
What would you call a band from the 70's with member that are in their 30's?
Your sports comparison is weak...really weak.

your grammar is weak ... really weak

how many members of Skynyrd are in their 30s there brainiac ?

considering that three original members died in the plane crash, it is impossible to have the original band together. the band reunited with the brother of RonnieVan Zant leading the way, they dont claim to be the original, but the are still an amazing band, originals or not.

how many bands that have been together over 30 years have all original members ?? aside from Rush ???

Jack Butler

So....you agree!
....got Street Survivor with the flames and the tour itinerary.
Saw Skynyrd twice.....'74 and 20 years later in '94.
"74 was way...way better than '94!
With all the previous changes and now Billy Powell is gone....anything after that is a cover band!

italiandomino
09-05-2009, 08:14 PM
you failed to answer .. how many bands that been around 30+ years have all originals ?

cover bands dont record new music ... they have recorded 7 since 1987 when they reunited

Jack Butler

I agree, if they just play what they wrote.
....I'm not doing your leg work.
Do you still consider GnR to still be GnR, with only Axel left?

wether I like it or not .. it is still GnR

Jack Butler
09-05-2009, 09:01 PM
I feel the same way...about both.
You get to listen to or see the business or the image of LS....barely the real deal at this point.
This far down the line it the branding and the LS sound.
I appreciated the Rossington Collin venture, for the same reason, rather than doing a cover.
Van Zant is good, but he ain't his brother.

so who do you consider Guns n Roses then ??

Jack Butler
09-05-2009, 09:23 PM

But....who cares at this point?
He'd of been better off doing something else, no?

Seeing Axel owns the name..........

The group was formed in early 1985 by Hollywood Rose members Axl Rose (vocals) and Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), and L.A. Guns members Tracii Guns (lead guitar), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums).
The band created its name by combining two of the group members' names.
A short time later, bassist Ole Beich was fired and replaced by Duff McKagan.
After a short while Tracii Guns was replaced by Slash; after Tracii didn't show up to rehearsal.
Slash had played with McKagan in Road Crew and Stradlin during a short stint in Hollywood Rose.
Drummer Rob Gardner quit and was replaced by Slash's close friend Steven Adler.
The band, which continued to be called Guns N' Roses even after the departure of Tracii Guns, established its first stable line up on this so-called "Hell Tour".

Just because some of the original band members are the same doesn't make it the same as the real band (ie. CCR). Just by having a couple of them means nothing if you don't have the heart and soul of the band. Is the new Lynyrd Skynyrd any good ? Well that is a matter for each of us to decide for themselves as with any other band. Are they as good as the original, not even close but it was a good try.

my pet peeve is when I see this great bands from the past out on the road again and they might just have one member who was in the origional band but yet they try to pass themselves off as the real thing.
