View Full Version : Please pray for my baby

I don't post here much anymore, but I'd just like ask anyone who can, to pray for my 2 month old baby. She's been in the hospital since Wednesday morning and I have no idea when she'll be able to come home.

She had a high fever and they don't know what's wrong with her. They've done blood, urine and feces cultures, chest x-rays, a lumbar puncture, CAT scan and have an IV in her with antibiotics right now /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif Almost her whole arm is taped up from the IV. She's been poked, proded and violated so many times she cringes when someone touches her /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif And to make it worse, there was blood in her diaper this morning.

If you could just keep her in your thoughts, it'd be GREATLY appreciated!

They were talking about sending her somewhere out of town if her CAT scan results showed blood in her brain fluid, but it was OK.

Have they done an ultrasound?

You know what? Call Dr Mulsteins office, he is the best in Sault Ste Marie, seriously. He saved my brothers life countless times, and he saved my daughter.

He was mine and my brothers ped and my kids ped, but just ask him if he could give a 2nd opinion.

oh, Dr. Mulstein is @ the group health centre.

DogsRule - Unfortunately, Dr. Mulstein (spelling is wrong, I think) has retired and moved to Ottawa! He was the best. He was my doctor too, and was amazing at what he did!

Your little one will be in my prayers!!

aww hunny. You guys need some Jester-bulldog love? ;-)

I'm sorry. I know how scary it is. My son's had to spend time in the hospital a couple times when he was a wee little gaffer. I told my dad to make sure she gets extra special lovin at the hospital (he's an RT there) when he goes into work, and he said the doctor in Peds is great.

We're all thinking happy thoughts for you!

Prayers and thoughts are with you. Stay with the doctor you feel the most confidence in. If you don't feel confident in the one that is helping (and I am not implying that it is the case right now), don't be afraid to advocate for a change. I did.

When my little guy was in NICU, I lost confidence in the treating doctor and let him go. I switched to his current pediatician whom I have the utmost respect and confidence in (he had to agree to the switch for it to happen, thank god he did).

SusyQ sends her thoughts and prayers as well.

Angel’s Love

I’ll pray for you today,

For an Angel to pass your way.

That her arms might hold you,

And that you feel it too.

Sometimes they’re by your side,

But it seems like they hide.

I’ll pray that you’re aware,

And know how much they care.

I’ll pray they softly whisper,

The things you need to hear.

I hope you feel an Angels’ caress,

And all her tenderness.

They leave the sweetest memory,

Of how life’s suppose to be.

I’ll pray that you’re aware,

Everyday and everywhere.

That an Angel’s love follows you,

And walks where you do.

oh poor baby. My son had a mysterious illness as well when he was 6 months old. Kinda sounds like what is wrong with your baby, fever, etc. they ran all the tests too he stayed in hospital for over a week and never did find out what was going on. They figured that it was a virus of some sort even checked or mennagitis (sp?). Anyway he is 17 years old now and is fine (as fine as a 17 year old can be haha). Be strong and be positive. Just to plug Dr. Zufelt is a great ped. as well. Hope all goes well.

I know how hard it is to see your little one like this. It happened to us also. They did alot of tests, even called in a surgen to look at her. She was on IV`s. So sad. I was a basket case. I never left the hospital. Our Ped was on holidays, they called him back , he came. She did get better, and all we could find out was that it was some virus. That was over 15 years ago, and Dr. Lam came to take care of her , cutting his holiday short. He is a very good doctor as well. Prayers and good wishes are with you.

Any word on this poor little one? I'm very curious as to how the baby is doing. It is comforting to hear that others have gone through similiar experiences and things came out good in the end. Nothing is much scarier to a parent than a sick child no one knows what is wrong with.

Thanks so much to everyone for keeping us in your thoughts!!

Baby is home now but no where near done with her tests. They're going with a urinary tract infection. She is on antibiotics indefinitely until they do more tests.

In a few weeks, she's going back to have a catheter inserted into her bladder to inject a dye. Then they're going to see if urine is splashing back towards her kidneys and if it is, she'll be on antibiotics until it corrects itself (could be up to a year, I'm told)

So, thankfully it wasn't anything more serious! She's back to her happy, giggly self again.

Thanks to all the nurses who were so nice to us for our week long stay there! (except the triage nurse.) /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

They sometimes need operation. My daughter was operated on when she was 6 because her urine was going back up to her kidney infecting her. She was two when they found out she had a prob.
She was on meds until the operation. Its a very simple operation they do at sick kids in T.O. Now its 3 years later and no prob.

My youngest son has hydronforisis (sp) and this is one of the test he had to do, its Not as complicated as they make it sound, the Dr let me be in U/S when they did this, he also had to have one done in nuclear meds, as they ingected die in him! and watched it move on the monitor, both tests are very informative!! good luck, I know when its kidneys they never tell you much, two yrs later and im still dealing with it, nothing near what I was going through when he was born!!

My son has hydronephrosis too.. they say that he should grow out by the time he is 9 or 10. He is 9 now and he hasn't had a problem for a year or so.

I am glad to hear your baby has been released from hospital.
Why?May I ask did they not send her to Toronto now rather than waiting to do more tests.? She should be checked out now and the virus may be come immuned to her antiboitics if given over and over again. Please check and inquire why baby needs to wait for testing, take her to TO as soon as you can.

They were going to take her to TO if she had blood in her brain. It was a urinary tract infection which is bacterial, not viral and it's gone now. They're keeping her on the antibiotics to make sure it doesn't come back in case she does have a problem with her bladder...if she does, then something will be done. If her bladder is fine, she'll be taken off the antibiotics.
