View Full Version : Is this crazy for a cheap ATV tow trailer?

Looking for a camping ATV trailer that can just carry my heavy cooler with two blocks of ice and food. I have a ATV trailer but it requires a small truck trailer to get it down the highway. The wheel barrel can be lifted upside down over the ATV seat while in the truck.

I was thinking if I remove the wheel barrel's stands/legs and tie the handles real good to the back of the ATV and pull it back wards first it could not tip over and the wheel barrels are designed to be tuff and have a 600lb carrying capacity.

What do you guys think? LOL or i,m I nuts? :embarassed:

I can get everything on my ATV for camping but that cooler and ice.

will it have problems turning corners, or hitting bumps. i wonder if it is just out of balance with the one wheel and prone to tip?

i saw some poor guy out at the tilleys with a crappy atv trailer. the thing kept crumpling like a pop can. it worked ok on strait non bumpy roads or without anything in it. once he got it back there and tried loading it up it just crumpled. so, moral of the story, dont get one of those cheap ones from ct.

Sorry to say Lance but I think you need at least two wheels. Maybe one of the two wheeled wheelbarrows ???

We have a cute little covered thing, my husband has skii's on it right now for towing behind the snowmachine, but it can have wheels. I wish I could tell you where he got it but I have no idea.

My though was if the two handless were fasten good to the ATV the thing can,t tip without taking the whole ATV with it. . but who knows.

Have a $500 ATV trailer already but you need a truck trailer to transport the ATV trailer itself, Im Trying to slim things up. I was thinking more of a $150 Heavy duty industral. wheel barrel I dont think a light duty $75 garden one would hold up to well.

We have the huge one that was 1000t.
They do make them smaller.
Yes they are to big..the size of a small car.

Your idea might work if you have 4 wheeler tires..Make one and go on a road trip..

go to Menards if you get the chance. They have ATV trailers for 250-275$...and they are great. These are not the exact model but its similar for the price.
