View Full Version : What time to leave for Kiss concert
Intangible

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what time to leave for the Kiss concert this Friday? Gates open at 6, opening bands start at 7, Kiss is at 9. I am just concerned about a major backup on the bridge. What is the latest one should leave?

Maybe 20 years ago there would have been a traffic jam of people trying to see kiss. I'd be willing to bet you could get across the bridge and through immigration in under 15 min

My anniversary is July 20th, and 2 years ago we went across for the seafood buffet at the casino. We didn't know, but ZZ Top was playing there that night. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get across, and we had to park WAY far away. I would say the earlier the better.

Apparently it's been a long time since you have had your head out of your bum. Ten thousand tickets sold say otherwise.
This isn't a thread to debate Kiss. I don't care if people like them or not. I'll say it slower so you can understand. What time should people leave to get over the bridge to see Kiss?

I'd go over early and eat dinner on the American side. Bridge traffic usually starts getting thick around 6pm when there is a concert.

Last year at Keith Urban we left at 2:00 pm and we were only about 20 mins on the bridge. We also had a hotel room so we has somewhere to go and wait for the concert.

I heard that this concert sold more tickets than Keith Urban, so I am thinking that 4:00 would be the latest I would want to leave. Maybe 3:00 would be best.

Aggy has an exam to write at noon .. so we aren't going over till around 2pm or so ... if you get there around 3pm you can hear KISS do their sound check ... should be alot going on during the day from what they told me when i was in line.

10,000 people.
Take your chances on fifteen minutes if you'd like. But make sure to come back on Soonet Friday night around midnight, to get a recap of how the show went, because you won't see it if you leave that late.

Urban sold close to 9,000. KISS will hit 10,000 with walk-up sales the day of the show. It is the biggest event at Kewadin, ever.
They plan on using the local high school for parking, and shuttling people to the casino. Traffic is going to be a bi***, there is just no two ways about it. Remember, the casino is just one-lane streets in a neighborhood, not on the I-75 business spur, which is two lanes.
Also, some people will open up their private lawns for parking. they'll charge you, but it beats parking a half-hour away.
Come over early, do some shopping, get a meal. Save yourself the headache.

Local sound ordinances prevent any band playing an outdoor concert to play past 11:00 PM.
KISS is scheduled to come on at 9:00. I could see it being a little later than that, maybe 9:20, as they'll want to wait until it's dark.

My husband and I were downtown yesterday at the mall and we could see that the line up for the bridge was backed up all the way across to the American side. It was a dead stand still the entire length of the bridge. This was at 4:00. Good Luck Today!!

I talked to the lighting crew .. they gave me that time ... they are on native land .. could be different rules (go figure) ... I was thinking the same thing as you ... but the that is the time frame i was given from the lighting guys when we went over on Wed night
Well, your time makes more sense, because KISS really does depend on darkness as far as their lighting show goes. Maybe you're right.
Either way, I'm there at 3:00 /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
FYI
Just left the casino and already people are lining up for general admission spots.
There are some awesome standing areas, especially around the reserved section. If you can leave early, do so.
Also, there will be shuttle buses taking people from Sault High School (Marquette Ave.) to the show, and back. That may be your best parking option.
I'm LEAVING NOW!! lol /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
