We have one of those tubs you have installed over your existing bath tub. It looks great and we have had it for about 5 years. We are now finding that we cannot get it as clean as before and the installer warned about using too storng a cleaning product on the surfaces. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem and if so what do you clean your bath tub with? Thanks

I have a Fiat Tub that is 27 years old and still looks almost like new.

This is the cleaning instructions for Fiat Acrylic Tubs:

NEVER USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
For day to day cleaning, use only liquid or foam cleaners with a soft cloth. Read the label on any cleaning agent carefully to be sure it is for use on acrylic (i.e. non-abrasive, non-corrosive).

Dull areas may be restored or light scratches removed by rubbing with an automotive rubbing compound, followed by a light application of liquid or automotive car wax.

(We were told to wax it once a year when we got the tub. I did at first, but haven't for the past 10 years and I really did not see much difference. If you wax it, make sure it is really clean first.)

I use american standard tub cleaner sold at home depot right under there tub display..

it works awsome.. We have hard water and takes everything off,,

Spray the area.. and rinse off...

I LOVE IT.. worth every 10 dollars I spend on a bottle.. its green.

Icecapp you must not live right in the city eh? I didn't think the Sault or surrounding area had a high concentration of calcium/magnesium in the water.

If you wax these tubs do they not become really slippery when wet??

i think i have done the same thing with my tub also. i watched the cleaners, but got one of those bath scrubbers on a stick and didnt even realize it would scratch the surface and make it dull and look dirty.

im just thinking now if 'plastix' would help?
