I am reading a biography of Don Carson's Dad (Don Carson is one of North America's leading theologians.. Soundbear would know of him.)
In this book he tells of his growing up in Drummondville, Quebec as an evangelical (which was very difficult in those days) He writes about his sister the following..
When we first arrive in Drummondville, Joyce was only 5 years old. She could speak no French and one of the neighborhood boys a year or two older, doubly provoked because she was a "damned Protestant" and because she couldn't speak his language, resolved the issue by beating her up every time she went out to play. Dad solemnly insisted that she turn the other cheek. Less convinced that this was the sort of situation that Jesus had in mind and with a surer grasp of playground dynamics than Dad emjoyed, Mum quietly told her daughter that, should this happen again, she was to roll her hand into a fist and hit her tormentor once as hard as she could, and then come in and tell Mum. This she did, and the problem was instantly solved. The two children learned to play together and the boy grew up to be a star in the National Hockey League.
So this made me curious.. which NHL'er might this have been? A child in the 50's, growing up in Drummondville?
